This is interesting. Loved Diver Down….Van Halenized tunes, and some great originals too! Queen rocks on this one too. Let’s see how this goes! Rock on! Yesssssss!
My favorite track by tracks are easily when it's two albums you love. Great line on The Full Bug: Quick to the point, kicks your ass, then leaves! Awesome battle, thanks Ralph!
Diver Down man such a good album. A little poppier sounding than the earlier albums but that doesn't mean it's worse at all. I love almost all Van Halen songs with Roth.
My track vs. track: Death On Two Legs (QUEEN) - my 2nd favorite Queen-Song after „The March Of The Black Queen“ Lazy On A Sunday Afternoon (QUEEN) - I can‘t help, but I love it 😊 I‘m In Love With My Car (QUEEN) You Are My Best Friend (QUEEN) 39 (QUEEN) (Oh) Pretty Woman (VAN HALEN) Dancing In The Street (VAN HALEN) The Prophet‘s Song (QUEEN) Love Of My Life (QUEEN) Big Bad Bill (VAN HALEN) Bohemian Rhapsody (QUEEN) Happy Trails (VAN HALEN) My final score: QUEEN - A Night At The Opera 8 : 4 VAN HALEN - Driver Down Queen is my favorite band …
Diver Down is arguably the weakest link in the first six holy grail. ANATO is in the clouds atop the mountain that is Queen. True story, my HS senior class had "Where have all the good times gone?" picked as the #1 song for our class song for graduation. It was overruled by the school administration and a Whitney Houston song was chosen by committee to replace it. I still regret to this day not bringing a ghetto blaster to the ceremony and rocking it out anyway. I must of wanted that diploma really bad. Lol. There is this thing called "Starfleet Project" that both Eddie and Brian are on together back in the day. Check it out.
Diver Down is the last VH album I ever purchased, and the two times I saw VH on their 1982 tour were the two last times I saw them. Diver Down is better than ALL the VH albums that came after it, and not as good as the four albums that preceded it.
I agree with you, Ralph. Queen II is the best Queen album. I love all their 1970s albums, up to Live Killers. I was not a fan of anything they did after Live Killers. Similarly, I was a VH fan up to Diver Down, and a fan of nothing they did after Diver Down. IMHO opinion, by Women And Children First and Fair Warning, VH was clearly not the same hard rock band that recorded those first two classic, untouchable albums. Live they were still a great band, but again not the great-plus live band they had been in 1978 and 1979. By Diver Down, it was clear that VH was not the same hard rock band that recorded Women And Children First and Fair Warning, and not the great live band they had been 1980-1981.
I love the sound on Diver Down!! 1. Death on two legs 2. Hang em high 3. Cathedral 4. Your my best friend 5. 39 6. Oh pretty woman 7. Dancing in the streets 8. Little guitars 9. Little guitars 10. Big bad bill 11. Bohemian Rhapsody 12. god save the queen 12.
Diver Down!!! I hate people who say “it’s all covers” stfu and listen to them, nothing like the originals and Eddie made them uniquely that Van Halen sound! Love them both but VH MF!!
