Rudy has been around the block for the past 40+ years wasn't an accident. it wasn't luck. Rudy has a few things going for him that makes him a great choice to be in a band: he knows his instrument very well, he knows when to party and when NOT to party, he gives 100% effort every time he goes on stage, he's never gone on stage drunk or high, and he is reasonable when it comes to compensation.
Rudy is really nice. I met all 4 of Quiet Riot on their last album tour, Quiet Riot, Rehab. Got the CD a picture of all of them and a mirror that had the band on it signed. They asked if I made the mirror, no, I won it throwing darts at our county fair. All 4 were very nice. Rudy,Kevin, Frankie and Carlos.
That's awesome Mark. I've seen the original Quiet Riot but never got to meet them. I'm an acquaintance of Carlo's brother Tony from Hurricane when I lived in California. He is also a really cool dude. Love Rudy and his playing. I also won a mirror at the DuPage, Illinois county fair in 1979. Still have it. It's Van Halen. Unfortunately, I'll never be able to get it signed. Cool story and take it easy.

Saw Rudy with Ozzy about 3 months after Randy died. Then with Quiet Riot on the Condition CriticalTour. After that with Blue Oyster Cult. Met him at GuitarFest and he was super cool.
I had the fortunate opportunity to meet Rudy Sarzo a few years back and my respect for him grew even more than it was. He was such a cool dude. After seeing him live with Dio and Whitesnake, I can comfortably say that he is truly is a great bassist.
I’ve always said he was a fortune teller. Nobody thought going back to a struggling QR WITH NO RANDY was smart. NO bass players ever mention him as an influence. If there was ever a deal with the devil it was with Rudy. Every move he made was brilliant. Milked QR then jumped to Whitesnake for 87 to let Chuck back in. 😂. Rudy was ruthless. Every time a smaller band blew up Rudy was on the album cover with no writing credits 😂.
Rudy Sarzo was never a songwriter, he was just a strait laced, hired gun, role playing showbiz entertainer, who was tailor made for the stage, who had Randy’s stamp of approval. Rudy was a sober guy to slap a red spandex leotard onto, who had a look & could play others compositions, adequately enough in a live concert settings. They say image is everything, & yet Rudy was lost as a composer & struggled mightily in the studio settings. It’s far easier to play a masterpiece, then it was to create it, as Sharon figured out, because Rudy wasn’t going to record Ozzy’s 3rd album with Randy, as they had planned on bringing Bob Daisley back in, when the tour concluded, to assist Randy with song writing on Bark at the Moon, which was scheduled to happen until Randy got killed. Most casual Ozzy fans still assume that Rudy & Tommy wrote Blizzard & Diary, with Randy Rhoads, due to the album’s pictures, & the same with Ozzy’s Tribute album, when Bob Daisley & Lee Kerslake composed all those songs with Randy. Even on Ozzy’s Speak of the Devil album, Rudy was playing Geezer Butler’s bass parts in a live concert setting. Quiet Riot, Ozzy, Quiet Riot again, Blue Oyster Cult, Guess Who, White Snake, Malmseen, Dio all utilized Rudy as a bassist in videos & on live tours, & didn’t allow him any inputs in the songwriting department, & then sent Rudy on his way after the tours, nobody ever seemed to really need Rudy around for all that long, as he made his way all around the touring circuit. There is an awkward video of Quiet Riot’s band members all seated behind a barricade, at a table at a fan meet & greet autograph signing event, where the bass player Chuck Wright struggles & fails to convince a fan, who didn’t really want Chuck signing his Metal Health CD at all, as Chuck was largely unable to explain, that he really was the guy, while the fan kept saying, how it sucked how they didn’t let Chuck play on the album, as Chuck protested to this confused fan, how he did indeed play Bass on the album, yet the fan just wouldn’t hear any of it, & just ended up allowing Chuck to sign this album to break the weird tension. & In the end the fan was still like, it sucks that your not on the album though, as Chuck was pointing out the albums linear notes, & the fan ignored everything that Chuck was saying, & no doubt walked away upset that Chuck had desecrated his treasured album, where Rudy’s image had been depicted on the albums fold out sleeve…😖
Saw Rudy with Ozzy 3 times. Twice with Randy. Once with Brad. The girl I was with at the time was totally in love with Rudy. Speak of the Devil is ok - the production was very shallow - haven't heard it in 30 years. I was way more into Live at Last which came out about a year before. Merry Christmas, Doctor
Rudy is one hell of a soldier. It IS crazy that he didn't record a single one of the records most associated with him. You would know better than I, but that sure is one hell of an anomaly. Figuring out why he got the tap to tour those records is no great mystery. He had the look and he could play really well. I would imagine also that he had a reputation as a reliable road dog that wasn't going to sabotage any chemistry or fail a gig by getting blasted beforehand. Speak is my favorite Ozzy record because of what Tommy and Rudy did in terms of interpreting the old Sabbath tunes. This girl I knew when I was 15 gave me her cassette of that album which happened to coincide with the time that my development as a player was beginning to move past common rock concepts. And I remember just being blown away by "The Wizard" and thinking "how does he compose and perform a drum part like that"?!?!? It was just alien to me at the time. But it sure as hell made me buckle down and go to the woodshed every.fvcking.day. after school until a combination of lessons from a Berklee grad, various drum clinics, and sheer determination to kick some ass finally cracked the code.
Of course Rudy would say something nice about sharon. The social media demon would sue, and rip Rudy apart . Telling BS untruths about him. Rudy is a awesome Bassist and a great guy. Idk, maybe its true but this is sharon were talking about. She has a bad track record with "employees".
"Brad Gillis" "Rudy Sarzo" and "Tommy Aldridge" Not Only Breath New Life into Those Old "Black Sabbath" Song's on "Ozzy" "Speak of the Devil".... But Do Such a Good Job Playing Them You'd Think🤔 They Wrote Em.... "Brad's" Guitar Playing is Out Fucking Standing.... Real Shame "Brad" Didn't Do at Least One Studio Album of Original Material with "Ozzy" Before He Left to Play with "Night Ranger".... Would've Been Awesome 🤘😎🤘
Seen him many times on TH-cam... Wife met him on the tour bus with Randy Rhodes when she was 9 and helped to retrieve Randy's Zeus pedalboard that was returned to the Rhodes family estate.
But Ralph did spend a summer in CuBa as a kid and never looked more appreciative to cereal when he got back 🤟🤟🤟🤟 Stay heavy !!! 80-86 ozzy rules !!!! Love that combat in the background man !!!! 🤟🤟🤟🤟 I need a signed copy
Dave the Beast Spitz and Danny are friends of mine. Check out Delray Beach Vintage Watches. Danny is an awesome dude. I’ve played many shows with the Beast and War Pigs. Rock N Roll Ribs parties… good times. Sounds like you’re in SoFL. Boca here…
I seen Quiet Riot and Warrant when they came thru here in February. It was a great show. It felt like both bands were tribute even tho Warrant is all there minus Jani of course but I was there for Quiet Riot anyway.
I follow Rudy on FB. The only rockstar I still do. Why? Because in an era of negativity and people complaining he’s always positive really cool nice shit. Pays honor to veterans, always celebrating people who did something positive in his community. And you can tell it’s him not just some manager.
For sure Rudy played on 'Diary' along with Tommy. Just like when people told me Ace doesn't own a pert of the KITH brand. Just like Diddy didn't get diddy. Are you're heads smell like ass.

I really liked Rudy's interpretation of Geezer's bass parts on Speak of the Devil
Rudy played on Whitesnake- Slip of The Tongue. Saw him on the tour with Steve Vai. Awesome bass player. Class act.
Rudy is a Metal Lifer. He did it his way. 😊
Saw QR in '83 I wish I had watched Rudy more than I did he's a real talent
Rudy kicks ass!

My phone is glitching
Rudy is awesome! One of my favorite bassists! A real talent and a great guy!
Rudy always seemed to be a real gentleman, never heard him say a bad word about anyone.
Talked to him for a minute at CVS in Malibu. He was super cool 😎
Lee Kerslake finally got his platinum records for BLIZZARD and DIARY. Did Bob Daisley get his?
What a story! What a life! Speak of the Devil and Metal Health were HUGE influences on young King Dinosaur. 🤘
I remember hearing Sarzo in an interview describing himself as "the Forrest Gump of bass players."
No one really heard him play till they saw him live? 😂

Love that Ozzy/ Def Leppard with Pete Willis pic.
I like Def Leppard Pete Willis tunes best

Thanks for the story, and have a Metal Christmas.
Good Lord; was Tommy Aldridge ever young in this life?

Sabbath Sunday 👊😎
For me, speak of the devil is just a slight hair below my favorite sabbath album = LIVE EVIL!!
Gotta Love Rudy sarzo. I think you're talking about fantasy camp
Met Rudy at NAMM a few years ago at RR Remembered back stage. Stellar dude.
Speak of the Devil is nasty.
Rudy ❤
Randy wanted out of Ozzy's band apparently. I wonder if Rudy would have followed suit
Randu rules'!!
I'm guessing losing Randy and dealing with Sharon.
Hey Doc you ain't got no Cuban accent, you have a KITH accent from listening to Pall Thanly Thing
Yeth!
