Great video, However its funny cause I've been playing almost exclusively dark culture and having a lot of success playing a rather peaceful and defensive stile, really tall while going for an astral or nature affinity. I would have to try your approach to dark now haha

Attract population function is a nasty shock to me when I started playing this game. The elf lady in story 1 schooled my sorry arse on this. She plonked down an outpost between my throne city and my vassal. Then pop pop pop her tentacles wrapped around me leaving me no room for expansion. I was angrily yelling how how how during my early plays. Made me rage quit a few times

Nice video Ic0n. Minor nitpick... in English we say "DIRT cheap" not "DIRTY CHEAP". The way you say this phrase makes it sound like you are talking about paying for sex or something.

Could you clarify what you mean by playing 'tall'? Having 3-4 cities seems to me like the standard playstyle, not a specific one.

I usually end up with 6 or 7 actually with most games, so for me sticking with only 3-4 cities is what I call "tall" playstyle. Otherwise I try to have as many cities as I can possibly fit in my turf and then start conquering as soon as I can afford the Imperium for new cities until I hit like 6-8 cities.

I've played 5 full games and 6 is the average I've found. I'm also coming from civ so that is probably a factor as well. But I find by turn 60 I have too much imperium I might be doing something wrong

Three or four cities is definitely playing tall otherwise you'll have five or six normally

​@Ben Shabtai By turn 70 or 80 it shouldn't be much burden. I think I'm typically earning around 120-150 imperium per turn by then.
Late game you can touch 200.
I think I always wind up with 5-7 cities plus some vassals (depends on culture and traits).
Playing only 3-4 cities would be pretty tall IMO unless you're taking one of the traits that limits you to either 3 or 1 cities.
