ABOUT:
zalgo is one of the overarching antagonists of the creepypasta mythos.
he is an iconic figure on the internet, achieving a legendary status as an urban legend and a subject of numerous memes. many perceive him as the embodiment of chaos and evil, drawing comparisons to the later interpretations of the renowned horror writer h.p. lovecraft
zalgo is an extremely dangerous eldritch abomination that is immortal with reality-warping powers. he can tear apart entire realities. his power seems to stem from both his natural condition (his demonic heritage), the cursed candle he holds, and the countless souls that he has enslaved.
the pattern of a zalgo manifestation within a comic is often the following: first, a message will occur. this message might be the classic line he comes, or a character casually mentioning a cursed object (e.g. the root of t'char), song, or zalgo itself. then, the victims begin to lose their limbs, which are replaced with black tentacles that grow exponentially. in the meantime, their eyes are drained by the same supernatural influence; they might bleed excessively in the process. then, they can no longer talk coherently; any speech they might still produce is reduced to either a string of indistinguishable symbols or nonsensical babbling. eventually, their whole faces and bodies are horribly mutated beyond the imaginable in an extremely gruesome and bloody way. the victims are unable to do anything since they're all under zalgo influence and most of the time they won't even react (or no longer react) to what is happening to them.
is the brother of sans and a major character in undertale. his main motive is to capture a human so he can become a member of the royal guard, and finally have friends and popularity.
papyrus is a flamboyant skeleton who presents a confident, charismatic image of himself. he is thought to have an egotistical personality, referring to himself as "the great papyrus," possibly as a way to feel as prestigious as his brother. he works hard and, despite his brash personality, is kind at heart. he is optimistic and brave, and is shown to be considerate and forgiving even when the protagonist beheads him in the genocide route. he is also occasionally oblivious and nonobservant, but can be cunning at times, as seen when he uses reverse psychology to trick undyne into befriending the protagonist.he is thought of to be somewhat naive by other characters, but not dumb. he shows great bravery as even in the face of potentially imminent death, he drops his guard and spares the protagonist hopes of driving them down a better path.
papyrus believes in others just as much as he believes in himself. he has so much faith in his abilities that he waited outside of undyne's house all night and begged her to accept him into the royal guard. seeing his persistence, undyne offered to train him, but instead gave him cooking lessons. his confidence in himself and others is so great that he interprets direct insults towards him as the protagonist trying to make themselves look bad so he can hurt them easier, rather than the possibility that they dislike him

Why match Papyrus with ZALGO?
Something I noticed about this battle is that, at first, the only thing connecting these two is that fonts are a part of their character, but when you start to look deeper you start to realize there's a deeper connection. Papyrus is innocent and usually doesn't question much about his own world, he seems not to realize a lot of things due to his naivety. While Zalgo is the respresentation of fear and chaos, an entity that lives in a parallel world, and symbolizes self awareness and the end of the world that draws near, in that way he is more on a concept than a character, that's why Papyrus doesn't seem to question, respond or even understand what Zalgo is saying, he even says "I cannot read cursive" which is why Zalgos threats are ineffectivek, even when he tries to intimidate him, Papyrus doesn't listen or understand what Zalgo is talking about since he will just ignore Zalgo and move on like he did in this battle. You can't invoke existential fear in someone who doesn't understand.

Man, the papyrus voice was spot on, and zalgo's flow was absolutely amazing in his 1st verse. This was pretty good battle.
i Don't think Papyrus is naive; i think he pretends to be. and reading other comments, i was like "oh, i'm probably not going to enjoy this" because it seems to go by the whole "papyrus doesn't understand anything" idea which i don't really like
and upon actually listening i was nothing but delighted to find that he's actually VERY in character. not to mention the puns , how he sweats after zalgo threatens him and he's still being all hopeful and confident in himself, and then he immediately swings into the "I wasn't listening !!!!" and gets back "in character"
i dont know as much about zalgo as i'd like so i don't have anything to add in that regard but incredibly good lineup and rap battle nonetheless. very pleased
I'd like to add that the line "EVEN IN YOUR VIOLENT CRAZE" also supports the idea that Papyrus is aware of Zalgo's malevolence.

Papyrus changes how he acts to suit the people around him. I think he wins this because Zalgo is trying to make him feel deep fear or embarrassment, and Papyrus is shouting at his computer to get back to cat videos or so help him he is gonna snap
