- Gordon Hayward was making his debut as a Boston Celtic last month when a nasty fall left him with a badly broken ankle. In an exclusive interview with TODAY’s Matt Lauer, Hayward says “I feel better today than I did yesterday,” but “emotionally, it’s hard on me.” He adds, “I’m going to be coming back better than ever.”

Being an Australian NBA fan and supporting Philadelphia since 2012-13 season I always loved watching Gordon play! He will be and always will be my favourite player to watch in today’s game!
I was watching this game and I saw it all happen even though I am in a different country I still wish Hayward the best recovery and I can’t wait to see him return next year! I would not wish this injury upon my worst enemy! Seeing him especially go through it and now not playing for his new team is sad! He will be 10x the better player he was previously! I hate these reporters. Taking him on this emotional roller coaster like he really wants to go down that path again. And he doesn’t even change emotionally stay like a brick wall. Reporters are like hyenas just go were they think there’s a cheap and easy meal.

If that’s the case it highlights how big of a scum bag reporter he is (& they are in general). There would have been so many points an interview could have focused on rather then reliving such a horrific experience.
LOL, pretty sure the whole interview and questions were approved and screened by Hayward's PR team. The interview coincided with a blog post by Hayward and a press conference in Boston, where he pretty much said the same things. He said himself talking about the injury in detail was therapeutic. This was part of the plan.
