- Caitlin Clark and NaLyssa Smith of the Indiana Fever answered questions from local reporters after the team's 83-80 win Thursday in their second (and final) preseason game. It was also their only home game before the regular season, which opens Tuesday at Connecticut.

I like how Smith came to Clark's defense when Clark said that she 'didn't have that great of a game tonight' and Smith interjected, saying, " I'm gonna push back on that... and then pointed out Clark's great assists, passing and pushing the pace... That's supportive teamwork and a display of respect and camaraderie.
People forget this is Caitlin’s Rookie Year and they haven’t been playing together but a few weeks. So, I would say CC is doing a great job so far, plus the other team had their team all over her. Smith rocked it tonight, they worked very well together! THE FEVER LADIES ROCK!! Congrats on the WIN!! 🏀

Smith brought her A Game tonight. Clark had an off night with the 3’s but she played a great game passing, rebounding and opening up other shooters.
Clark was being tripple teamed all the time
Smith was good in both exhibition games -- scoring 20+ in both. Clark faced a tough defense and like teams are going to do, they face-guarded her full-court. So it's on her teammates to help with that -- and finish at the rim.
Caitlin looks exhausted. Winning is the reward. Nalyssa was enjoyable to watch. A team effort
Her first shot, four players were on her. Her teammates should help her more, cover her so she can have 3 seconds to shoot.

@@km9243 Celeste played amazing. She's trying to get that last roster spot and I think she may have done it. She utilized every minute she was in the game and played great. Definitely an asset!

Clark is a team player and that's what makes her great. She wasn't selfish with the ball. She was triple teamed so she made sure to make good passes.
And that was a smart, team player does. Especially as the point guard. It's going to take at least a few months for everyone to get on the same page and comfortable with each other's tendencies. Remember, she was with much of that Iowa roster for almost four years.

Smith Had A Great Game, Caitlin Acknowledged That and Smith Did The Same With Clark Pushing The Ball Up The Court. Smith Carried The Team Tonight, That’s What Teammates Do. There’s Already Haters Saying Clark Only Had 12Pts, She Led The Team In Rebounds and 2nd In Assists. This Is A New Team and New Teammates. All The Hater’s Give Her Sometime, She Will Not Disappoint. We’re Talking Two Pre Season Games, MJ’s First NBA Reg Season Game He Only Scored 16 Pts.
With a little more time this Fever team will put all the parts together like a well oiled machine. I love the entire team and will be following them this season.

CC is a triple threat. You cover CC, she passes to the open teammate... you give CC a few inches, she shoots... leave a lane open CC drives to the bucket. Nuff Said.

Dream we on lala land on defense. Bunching up, hyper focused on one player will not be a winning strategy.
I'd add the 8 rebounds and says she is a threat there too.

Nylyssa is able to sprint, catch and shoot. She has figured out what to do with a defensive rebound. Get the ball to the guards and race toward the basket.

Cudos to Smith for supporting Caitlin and letting her know that her team is fully behind her and she definitely doesn’t have to do it all by herself

I have seen this (last nite) and really wanted to comment. I really like the fact that NaLyssa had CC’s back, it shows that the team likes her, and they understand the attention she gets, as opposed to resenting it. For me it serves two purposes. One, that they need better recognition in the most general sense of how quickly she will zip a pass, not only to be ready,but to run to spots on the floor the way her Iowa teammates learned, and two, demonstrated support. Only reason I am here to start is because of CC, so I will critique a few things. Firstly, I don’t mind the risky passes, the ones that connect for easy buckets will out weigh the missed connections, but…. She can get sloppy, or cavalier with her dribble occasionally and get sniped, and her pocket picked. We have all seen it. She could flip it by feigning casual, then blow by the defender, get downhill for a 5 on 4 scenario. She will have bad shooting nights, but, she did chuck a couple of her 3’s, just hope she gets back to solid squaring up, even from deep, even if she misses. She will also have red hot nights, and a couple in a row could relax her and fuel a good shooting run. Last thing I would like to see is her get in the paint, stop and pop, including a floater she is working on. Once she has that part of her game in her bag, she can use it to slip passes from the added threat, and you can bet she will. 😎 JP

Yeah Boston has missed a lot of what should have been easy buckets on passes from Clark.
I hope the team should start talking about the duo they should really develop. It's CC and SMITH. Her style of play compliments any PG. Smith can run faster than AB, ready to catch long passes and is more aware of the play most of the time.

Caitlin took one for the team getting double and triple teamed so her team mates could make the shots. That was a great long pass to Smith who capitalized on it!
Both Smith and Clark had a good game. Clark has beautiful passes, but her teammates could not finish some of the points. That is something the coach will have to work with.

Clark will face defenses unlike that she faced in college. So her teammates will have to step up. Atlanta Dream didn't put up much of a fight after getting the big lead...interesting game.
And, as she expressed tonight, physicality unlike what she has faced before -- because those were fouls in college.

Clark was getting doubled and tripled teamed. She can do a better job passing. Which will increase her open shots. When Celeste Taylor played, the team was boosted, she has great defensive energy. Smith is a Dawg.
NaLyssa had back-to-back great games. Catlin is a rookie. Teams do things to her cause she is new. In my opinion it takes time learning what your teammates are reacting to.

Clark and Smith - Clarks new Ciznano and Staulke and Martin. Clark QB Smith receives = dominate.
Clark had 6 assists but also 6 turnovers.
They need to replace Boston with her backup who is way faster and suits Clark better. Boston is too slow
