Sighing and Crying in Jerusalem

The backdrop of Revelation 7:1-4 is found in Ezekiel 8, 9. In order to understand the Revelation antitype, we must first understand the Ezekiel type. Ezekiel 9 describes the type that was fulfilled with literal Jews in literal Jerusalem. However, the book of Revelation, describes the antitype that will be fulfilled with spiritual Jews in global Jerusalem.
The Ezekiel type describes God’s own professed people in the Middle East who were in apostasy. The Revelation antitype likewise describes a Christian world that claims to serve God but is in apostasy.
