Our Heathen Handfasting Ceremony, Freyja's Day 9/30/2016

- Our lovely priestess (and good friend) Valerie wrote and performed the ceremony, and she did the invocation in Icelandic (the translation was provided in the scroll programs for the guests).
Here is the Icelandic to English translation of the invocation:
Nauð is alight, Nauð is alive,
Pure in its brightness,
Pure against darkness.
Please, all of Asgard, ancestors, elves and elemental wights, join us in today's celebrations,
Bless us with your presence in this consecrated grove.
Hail the folk!
The living blood of Heimdall,
And honor to you glorious ancestors,
Whose deeds have brought us forth,

we continue the breath of our people.

she's a good friend of mine, we met through mutual friends while working at a festival together years ago and I went to her for advice a lot when I was first starting my own solitary practice :) If you're looking, I'd suggest asking your local pagan groups in your area and see who is ordained

That was beautiful! We just got engaged and now I'm starting the planning process, which is daunting to say the least. I got lots of wonderful ideas from the ceremony. This is a shot in the dark, but do you happen to have a copy of the vows somewhere saved that I could request? I would love to use a few things from it if you don't mind and my life would be a million times easier if I didn't have to try to write it while listening, haha! Thank you and congratulations!

I've been studying other belief systems customs and this was the most video I've seen. I'm only 2% Scandinavian but I am 20% German, and I feel at home when I see this. I don't know why Christians in history took so many ancient practices away. The Bible is an interesting book, and I think all religions are interesting. I'm not for violence. Only curiosity.
