    VERY awesome!! Thank you for sharing!! I only just found these videos and have watched several already. I hope some day I can go to Wolin. It looks amazing. I have a huge passion for anything ancient or medieval, particularly battle, weapons, tactics; plus my family is of Slavic heritage (my Grandparents moved to the USA from Czechoslovakia with no English or anything), but I have never been able to connect with the land or my family there, so maybe some day I could do that and go to the festival. And what a *wonderful place to have a wedding*!! His wife is SO BEAUTIFUL! Not trying to be creepy... I'm a straight woman - it's just a fact she's very beautiful! I don't think anybody would ever mess with _that_ man's wife anyway. Not if they want to live!! ;)

      +schradeya Hi there, thank you so much for your interesting and very kind comment!
      Stay connected and - if it is your hearts desire to witness the festival in Poland - there will be a way! Soon we will do the next "Viking Story" and hope you watch it too. Greetings from Germany

    Beautiful wedding,
    I have ancestry of three ethnic groups of the region . Germanic, Slavic and Baltic. The island of Wolin was the home of my Slavic bloodline, Götaland the Germanic, sadly we could never trace the location of our Baltic bloodline due to extensive loss of records after the WWs. I wish I could return with my son but we are not considered Polish, German, Lithuanian or Russian.

      Hi Brett Anthony Palmer, thanks for the comment. Come as a tourist and discover the regions with your son. It is easy to travel there.You will love these places along the baltic coast. Greetings from Berlin ;-)

      @@Morusmedienpool Thankyou for your reply, I didn't expect a reply when I checked the date of when the video was published. So again thankyou !
      I'm getting older (53) and really just want to return to where I belong with my wife and young son (13) .. I love my Australian people as my forbears were lighthorse ANZAC but I guess it's just the times that cause my blood, heart and soul to ache as if I were an orphan, I guess in a way all of the Baltic and Wendish diaspora are orphans waiting to come home.
      Cool little fact for you about the Region my people settled in Australia, they named it Prenzlau en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prenzlau,_Queensland
      Good health to you and yours ! Who knows, maybe one day we shall meet.

    • @Morusmedienpool
      @Morusmedienpool  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are in Australia - wow - this seems to be very far from your bloodline, how came this? ...but funny Prenzlau is a city close to Berlin, close to the border to Poland and I could reach it with the bike. You are very young ;-)) - I was older when I found myself filming sword fight - full contact - on a battlefield, I probably also have viking roots and represent a modern "Shieldmaid", with my camera. Stay healty too, take care and yes, one day we shall meet!!

    • @Morusmedienpool
      @Morusmedienpool  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is an interesting Story - I just read it! ....should I look for your ancestors? Do you know the names of your german parts of the family?

    • @brettanthonypalmer2956

      @@Morusmedienpool Hello ! Discovering ancestry is problematic for many families of the Eastern German and Polish Regions who had migrated when the Kingdom of Prussia still existed (we left in the 1860s along with many Wends) and after the abolition of the Kingdom of Prussia lost right of return to those lands.
      Some of our Germanic ancestry names in no particular order are, Fleischfresser, Grieshaber , Everdt, Goetze.
      The trick to finding ancestors of those who left the continent prior to WW 1&2 is to search all things "Prussian" as Germany didn't exist back then as it does today, researching these things gets very messy and hard to find, especially the further east on the Baltic the research leads.
      Thanks again for your reply !

    Is this a Scandinavian man marrying a Slavic girl? Also do they live in remote villages far away from urban city? Or are they just city folk who wanted to do a wedding traditional pagan Slavic themed?

    • @Morusmedienpool
      @Morusmedienpool  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Karina Nal, a lot of questions ;-)), Igor is the leader of a famous Viking Reenactment Group named Triglav, located in Poland. For them it is a new living culture. Viking Reenactment is spread around the world and you find members of the Jomsborg Vikings even in Australia. Feel free to watch all "21st Century Viking Stories" and you will learn about the individual motivation that drives them. Greetings from Berlin

    What has slavs to do with vikings???

    • @Morusmedienpool
      @Morusmedienpool  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi there, the ties between western slavic tribes, especially Poles and the vikings, especially Danes are well known mostly because of the archeological researches and scandinavian sagas. One of the most interesting matters of the Viking-Slavic history is Jomsborg (today Wolin island and city) in Poland. Feel free to watch the "21st Century Viking Stories" and learn about communities, who try to keep history alive. Greetings ;-)

      First of all Viking is a proffesion not an ethnic group, there were Slavic vikings as well, not worse than famous in popculture Scandinavian ones.
      Check
      Battle of Konungahela, 1136.
