  • In this video we go over the process of 3D printing your dice files and turning them into fully usable resin dice to roll the fates of your players!
    This video has been about a month in the making, so I 100% apologize both for the delay and the length of the video. I just thought that it would be better to have a 100% complete final product that I am proud of, and that doesn't leave any question to wonder. I really hope that I answered a lot of questions ahead of time in this video, but if not, of course I'm always happy to answer more in the comments. So ask away!
    All in all, I would recommend this process over the alternative of using tin cured silicone, as it just doesn't capture the detail that you need in dice creation in my opinion. You are totally free to try it yourself, as you may prefer that! But I'd rather buy 1 bottle of the inhibit X and be set for life.

    A very small piece of advice from one hobbyist/craftsman to another, when sanding, remember to sand in the same direction every time. Don't change directions mid-sand and those small scratches won't appear. Just a very small tip, I love your work and can't wait to see what you do next. Best of luck!

    Glad allot of people who want master dice STL files can get them here because I went out and decided to learn blender to do it myself and never in my life did I ever want to grow hair just to pull them out. Blender is great and all but good lord, I hate the interface. I thought some video editing programs interfaces were terrible.
    Great video as always!

    • @Psieks
      @Psieks 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The good news about Blender is that you get a TON of control. I've made a few fun dice that way. My favorite project was 3 D8s printed with runes. Unfortunately I haven't gotten to use them yet but I really hope to find a use for them in a Viking-themed campaign.

    • @Tengila
      @Tengila 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Oh yeah. Take it from this fledgling 3D artist. Blender is one hell of a powerful and versatile tool, and I really enjoy using it, but daaaaamn if the interface isn't utterly arcane. My basic 3D classes in University were taught in 3DS Max, but we could use whatever program we wanted so I stubbornly chose Blender. About half of my workload for that entire course ended up being me trying to figure out how to do the thing in Blender, as everything was found in different locations, had other names and often just worked and looked differently altogether. But when I finally got it, it ended up being a _way_ smoother process than my classmates had with Autodesk's overpriced, buggy mess.

    • @TetherOnline
      @TetherOnline 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Tengila Interesting. I thought getting one of the few over priced programs would be better in the long run, glad I was proven wrong.
      Thankfully I am getting better at Blender now. There's still a few rough things I need to get through to figure out how to make a few objects, but now that I have a base understanding of the program I feel like I'll get what I need out of it.

    • @Rybonator
      @Rybonator  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used to use blender for animating way back when, and it's ok for animating! But yeah, the UI is pretty wonky. I might try and pick it back up to see what I can make happen on the dice front with it :)

    • @Tengila
      @Tengila 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TetherOnline It honestly depends on what you're doing. Blender does a _lot_ of things, but it's not the best at all of them. It has some sculpting tools, though I haven't really tried them out much yet, but there are better options. If you wanna make models just for 3D printing, you might actually be better off with a dedicated sculpting program. My interest in 3D modeling is primarily in the service of Game Development, and Blender is excellent for that. For example, UV mapping, rigging and skinning in Blender is an absolute breeze (as soon as you figure out where the tools are). Really, it depends on what you want to do with your project.

    The black with gold flakes look insane. I like how the flakes are subtle like you see them through a swamp. You should consider getting a light box, showing off your dice lit from the bottom would be awesome!

      I made my own once, but it kind of sucked haha. I need to get a professional one for some glamour shots :)
      I might end up sanding and keeping the black and gold for myself and do the challenge!
