    I just love this sound, so mythical and mystical. When I hear it, I always see myself walking in a deep forest and stumbling upon some dryads and such having a ritual around a campfire or something like that.

    A beautiful instrument and a beautiful lady. The hurdy gurdy has a really deep, rich tone. And thank you for the explanation, because I now have a better understanding for how a hurdy gurdy works. :)

    Is there a way to muffle the sound of the key presses? Or are the mechanical sounds just part of the Hurdy Gurdy experience?

    • @dergescheidte547
      @dergescheidte547 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Pretty sure it is possible to engineer the Hurdy gurdy in such a way that the key presses are silent but knowing the engineering behind silent buttons i am pretty sure it will not only add a lot to the price but also makes to buttons to be more difficult to press causing faster muscle fatigue so it is better when the button slide easily and slam against the back than slide heavily and put unessesary stress to your finger muscles.

    • @katnax3059
      @katnax3059 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As i saw the first MM instruments, I know that Michalina and Piotr, are trying to get as silent keys as possible. It was always a problem while recording, to remove those sounds. Sometimes you have to dampen the wall of key box, because of keys falling after you stop playing on them. For example i have this type of gurdy and it's super noisy.

    I was there for the two Wacken shows. These two were some of the most fun shows I could be at. What were you thinking or feeling when the 2019 Wacken show had to be aborted due to severe weather? For me this was pretty devastating. Having the greatest fun in one moment, having to walk back to my tent in the other moment...

    This might be a strange question, but what kind of gear ratio does the crank typically have in relation to the wheel?
    I can tell it spins much faster, but I'm curious by what metric. (I am thinking of trying to make a Gurdy like DIY instrument. Like an electric guitar with a crank wheel.)

    • @PiotrLYRRE
      @PiotrLYRRE 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! It is typically around 1:1 for most hurdies out there. However, when the crank is longer than radius of the wheel it is a little bit easier to play fast trompette patterns.
