A Reaper Leviathan killed my Seamoth once. So I made it my mission to eradicate all 25 Reapers and drive their race into extinction. Did the same for the 6 Ghost and 3 Sea Dragon Leviations. There are now no more hostile Leviathans left in my game. Wish it was an achievement haha

Dude I was playing subnautica a little bit ago and the Sea dragon was in the wall tried to shoot fireballs at me I didn't got out of the wall and then zoomed out of the map and just never to be seen again
Some info for people who are planning to kill one of these... 1. Their hit box is only at their head (that's why he wasn't able to hit their bodies or grapple on) 2. You can hit the leviathan with the stasis rifle again while it is frozen to recharge its freeze time (doing this will keep it constantly frozen until you kill it)

I got over this fear by shooting one with the stasis rifle when it was coming for me and I had it right in front- Also, there are 22 reapers, 3 sea dragons and 6 ghost leviathans (3 if you count the ones in the void) in the game.

I had my 1st close encounter with the reaper leviathan today. I was desperately searching for prawn suit parts and chose a wreck in the mountains. I heard it from a distance but didn’t see it anywhere so started salvaging. After finding everything I needed and more, I exited the wreak. I then heard it again but really loudly. Glancing around to see where it was, I realized it was caught on the wreak right where I exited. Since it was my 1st time SEEING it, I instantly jumped into my seamoth and ran away. Edit: I made the stasis rifle when I got back to base. I’m going to make sure I’m ready for a fight for when I meet it again.
The quote "There is no courage without fear" hits so differently with me now. My first playthrough of subnautica made me extremely thallasophobic, to the point where I considered giving myself cheats to get out of going to the aurora, while spooky but safe areas like the sparse reef terrified me. I knew I had to get over my fear so I went into creative and headed over to the aurora to kill reapers. I killed both the one at the back and the front. recently I was in my survival world and went to aurora. The reason the quote has a whole new meaning to me now is because I charged at the reaper near the front of the ship, despite being terrified, and I killed the damn thing. True courage people.
@@texasred6814 the ghost leviathan isn't that scary, since it doesn't just grab you out of nowhere. Same with the sea dragon. Its rather slow and only takes your vehicle when you get close to the mouth. Idk if it's like this for you, but it is for me.
What I find interesting is you can see the leviathans kinda trying to keep their distance as you stun and attack them, it's a bit like they know they need to take you down but they really would rather keep their distance. If intentional it's a nice touch
I think In real life anything this size is a bomb class threat & shld probably be using bombs on any of these creatures for all bullets & knifes are relevant to cat stretches for leviathans.
Next time, if you want the leviathan race to go extinct then grab you trusty stasis rifle and farm an entire inventory of gas pods from the gasopod in the safe shallows. Hope this helps.

The reaper is early game comparison to the others so it seams alot more powerful and terrifying despite it being weaker but i personally also find it the scariest.
One thing that fascinates me is that (most of the time) big, scary, reptilian creature roads are a mix of mammal sounds. Whenever I hear the Sea Dragon, I always hear a mix of a lion, bull, and bear
You do this the most convoluted way possible, just constantly stasis the leviathan when the bubble is going down, for the sea dragon you go rodeo on it with the prawn drill arm and grappler, I've killed 4 reapers 1 ghost leviathan, and the sea dragon out side pcf in the active lava zone on accident
"By accident" One doesn't accidentally kill one of the hardest to kill entities in the game. You've gotta actually work to target and eliminate these things, trust me, I know. 2 reapers, 6 ghosts and both dragons and counting (one of the dragons got stuck, so I put him out of his misery).

I think he'll find killing the Sea Dragon Leviathan all the more sad when he realizes that he may have just contributed to their extinction, since the PDA scan reveals that their population is in the single digits due to Kaharaa killing off their primary food source.
The reaper is honestly the scariest. Why? Well here: 1. It can see you from very far. 2. You cant see in the dunes very well. 3. Theres multiple of them in a single area. With the sea dragon and ghost (besides in the void) you can see well and theres not as many of them in one area and they have similsr sight as you
BOMB-DROPER 1000 you must be lucky man. I can’t tell you how many times I encountered leviathans. I’m just angry because I thought I couldn’t slay the sea dragon one; but now I know and I will!
You think there are just 6 Reapers leviathans, the real number is 21 terrifying reaper leviathans in only 3 biomes, 6 in the mountains, 7 in the crash site, and 8 in the dunes! That’s 7 times more than there are adult Ghosts leviathans, and it is so scary to know that you can run into so many leviathans in the same place.
Bought Subnautica 5 days ago and beat it today after 50 hours or so, was pretty good.... I was kind of shocked to be honest that people view it as a horror game? I mean the leviathans were definitely a force to be reckoned with but I looked at eg the ghost worm or whatever it's called, the big blue one - and I kind of just viewed it as being more cool than scary. Even when I was being chased I wasn't really scared since I learned pretty early on you can pretty much just avoid 90% of the leviathan attacks by just staying very high up in the water until you arrive close to your destination(eg the Bulb Zone) and then you go down into the biome and just try to avoid whatever leviathans spawns in that biome. It kinda bummed me out to be honest, I liked all the music and stuff that went into chases but I just couldn't bring myself to turn the Cyclops headlights on to attract one just to get the experience. Still a fantastic game though. Just not a horror game to me personally. Looking forward to trying out Below Zero next.
If you ever, for whatever reason, decide to kill another leviathan with stasis and knife, know that you can shoot off a weak stasis shot to stun it for a few seconds, long enough to build up and release a full charged shot, thus saving energy because you will have fewer missed charged shots Also, if you shoot a stasis shot at an already stunned creature, it will replace the one currently on it, so if you see the field shrinking, you can shoot it again to give yourself more time. At least, this is how I dealt with all the reapers I found
Another thing you can do that makes the process is something I just saw today in someone else's video: if you prepare for the fight by collecting gas pods from the gasopod (shocking right) and then get a fully charged shot on the leviathan, you can drop the pods out of your inventory which makes them explode in the leviathan's face; causing immense damage and killing it in seconds.
Reaper can grab/bite you when stunned. It was glitchy when it happened, once the stasis effect dissipated I died, and swam back just in time to watch it destroy my seamoth. also, the seamoth electric defense doesnt seem to work if you arent in the ship.
You’re doing good lad! I’ve been hunting for a good time and have to say you did this quite smoothly but you did struggle to find the hit box of the ghost. Also the sea dragon has the same 5000 HP as a reaper, it’s just harder to drain down since the sea dragon generally deals more damage
Their hitbox is actually tiny. It's basically a sphere where their head is during idle. When they're in stasis, that hitbox does not move despite it looking like it does. When you find a spot that registers a "hit" with your knife, don't move. The creature's visuals are desynchronized from its hurtbox. You can get about 25 hits in, then fully charge a stasis blast to keep it permanently paralyzed. They're also programmed to swim away from you after hitting you once, this way you're never in danger of dying from full

There is actually two sea dragons in the inactive lava zone for three total sea dragons, and either 25 or 26 reaper leviathans- depending on spawn- I thought there was only about six as well though!

I think the reaper is the scariest leviathan. You can always keep an eye on the other two, but the reaper always swims in open areas
the ghost can too but that’s if you go at the edge of the world aka the void

I was lucky, when i got to the aurora the reaper leviathan got stuck in one of the broken parts

Actually, in real life the thermo blade would do way less damage than a regular knife since the heat would probably just cauterize the wounds
True, not quite sure how being underwater would factor in, and who knows the properties of the stasis rifle effect.
True but the skin of the leviathan naught be too hard for normal knife ( in real life) so the thermo might be needed
It would prevent blood loss but catastrophic burns can kill you from shock alone

It’s weird when scaling your body in subnautica, but when compared properly, sea dragon’s tooth is actually just smaller than your torso.
Its got small teeth compared to its size. The dragon could chomp on the biggest whale easily

You do this the most convoluted way possible, just constantly stasis the leviathan when the bubble is going down, for the sea dragon you go rodeo on it with the prawn drill arm and grappler, I've killed 4 reapers 1 ghost leviathan, and the sea dragon out side pcf in the active lava zone on accident

One doesn't accidentally kill one of the hardest to kill entities in the game. You've gotta actually work to target and eliminate these things, trust me, I know.
2 reapers, 6 ghosts and both dragons and counting (one of the dragons got stuck, so I put him out of his misery).

@@darkassassin3393 Not entirely sure. I've killed them, but after that have left the game for a while, shortly after the rocket update. Would attempt to find out... but that requires downloading epic games again... and IDK.

#1 priority for inactive lava zone at the moment, i got a depth module for my prawn, but not the bravery to travel that deep without trouble
I recently lost a Seamoth to a reaper..
Suffice it to say, every surface leviathan is now dead in that save file.
I think the coolest thing ever would be seeing (non hostile) adult leviathans going from the lost river to the void every now and then

I think he'll find killing the Sea Dragon Leviathan all the more sad when he realizes that he may have just contributed to their extinction, since the PDA scan reveals that their population is in the single digits due to Kaharaa killing off their primary food source.
The reaper is honestly the scariest. Why? Well here:
1. It can see you from very far.
2. You cant see in the dunes very well.
3. Theres multiple of them in a single area.
With the sea dragon and ghost (besides in the void) you can see well and theres not as many of them in one area and they have similsr sight as you

BOMB-DROPER 1000 you must be lucky man. I can’t tell you how many times I encountered leviathans. I’m just angry because I thought I couldn’t slay the sea dragon one; but now I know and I will!

If I had that game, I’d kill the Sea Dragon Leviathan and call its mouth ‘home’. It’s just so awesome
You think there are just 6 Reapers leviathans, the real number is 21 terrifying reaper leviathans in only 3 biomes, 6 in the mountains, 7 in the crash site, and 8 in the dunes! That’s 7 times more than there are adult Ghosts leviathans, and it is so scary to know that you can run into so many leviathans in the same place.

Bought Subnautica 5 days ago and beat it today after 50 hours or so, was pretty good.... I was kind of shocked to be honest that people view it as a horror game? I mean the leviathans were definitely a force to be reckoned with but I looked at eg the ghost worm or whatever it's called, the big blue one - and I kind of just viewed it as being more cool than scary. Even when I was being chased I wasn't really scared since I learned pretty early on you can pretty much just avoid 90% of the leviathan attacks by just staying very high up in the water until you arrive close to your destination(eg the Bulb Zone) and then you go down into the biome and just try to avoid whatever leviathans spawns in that biome. It kinda bummed me out to be honest, I liked all the music and stuff that went into chases but I just couldn't bring myself to turn the Cyclops headlights on to attract one just to get the experience.
Still a fantastic game though. Just not a horror game to me personally. Looking forward to trying out Below Zero next.

If you ever, for whatever reason, decide to kill another leviathan with stasis and knife, know that you can shoot off a weak stasis shot to stun it for a few seconds, long enough to build up and release a full charged shot, thus saving energy because you will have fewer missed charged shots
Also, if you shoot a stasis shot at an already stunned creature, it will replace the one currently on it, so if you see the field shrinking, you can shoot it again to give yourself more time.
At least, this is how I dealt with all the reapers I found
Another thing you can do that makes the process is something I just saw today in someone else's video: if you prepare for the fight by collecting gas pods from the gasopod (shocking right) and then get a fully charged shot on the leviathan, you can drop the pods out of your inventory which makes them explode in the leviathan's face; causing immense damage and killing it in seconds.
Reaper can grab/bite you when stunned. It was glitchy when it happened, once the stasis effect dissipated I died, and swam back just in time to watch it destroy my seamoth. also, the seamoth electric defense doesnt seem to work if you arent in the ship.

I’ve been hunting for a good time and have to say you did this quite smoothly but you did struggle to find the hit box of the ghost.
Also the sea dragon has the same 5000 HP as a reaper, it’s just harder to drain down since the sea dragon generally deals more damage

Their hitbox is actually tiny. It's basically a sphere where their head is during idle. When they're in stasis, that hitbox does not move despite it looking like it does. When you find a spot that registers a "hit" with your knife, don't move. The creature's visuals are desynchronized from its hurtbox.
You can get about 25 hits in, then fully charge a stasis blast to keep it permanently paralyzed.
They're also programmed to swim away from you after hitting you once, this way you're never in danger of dying from full
The normal punch of the praw nsuit does more damage than the drill, and for a lot, u can take a reaper in around 50 hits

There is actually two sea dragons in the inactive lava zone for three total sea dragons, and either 25 or 26 reaper leviathans- depending on spawn- I thought there was only about six as well though!
