- Sonic Movie 2 has been out for around a week now and naturally when a new installment in a franchise releases, you talk about what is next. In this video today, we're talking about Sonic Movie 3 and my wants for the upcoming sequel. From Shadow The Hedgehog to what I want from the story and characters, we go over a handful of details that I believe would make this upcoming movie a sure-fire success!

I feel like Maria and Shadow could be an interesting parallel with Tom and Sonic, and how Sonic learns about how Shadow loses the one person he cared about the most. Could help build Sonic's character as well.
And it’s very likely shadow would sacrifice himself to help sonic save humanity but Jeff Fowler will do something the other games didn’t, show a post credits scene with shadow floating unconscious in space far from earth and twitches a bit.
And before that, sonic would put on shadows ring as a way he will never forget him, just like he did with chips ring in unleashed and he would say “sayonara, shadow the hedgehog.”
Well Shadow and Sonic have both experienced loss with Maria and Longclaw respectively. The parallel of Sonic and Shadow would be that Sonic had someone to take that loss and fuel that emotion towards something positive meanwhile Shadow only holds on to the negative emotions of loss with his desire for revenge and hate, that is until he changes and realizes what Maria actually wanted from him.
@@scratcho.9980 and when shadow and sonic are in their super state, sonic harnesses the positive energy and shadow harnesses the negative energy, but for shadow, using up all that power caused him to lose conscience and drift in space and everyone presumed he is dead.
@@adamstephens8220 oh my gosh, I hadn’t even thought of super shadow appearing in the 3rd movie. I mean it makes sense and it will likely happen so I’m hyped.
@@adamstephens8220 just thinking of it gives me chills it could be perfect, his body floating around the earth’s atmosphere as it to a scene of his mid body from the side where his hand twitches… but that wouldn’t do the shadow story justice. SA2 was a brilliant arc for shadow and should’ve been left alone (despite how much I love him) however I won’t deny that 06 gave him a perfect arc with Memphis Tennessee and deciding his own fate but after that he’s just been dragged through the mud and I hate it and would hate for that to happen again
I mean i'm actually excited for a 3rd movie, just hope the directors take their time so they make the pacing slow, tell a decent emotional backstory for Shadow, and reducing all the fart jokes.
Exactly in the first movie they had one f joke which I let slide, but then in the second movie they kept pushing it.

They could honestly just fully adapt SA2 and still have it work with minimal changes. Like maybe that quill that Eggman had on Mushroom Hill could come back and power Metal Sonic, which Sonic and Shadow would have to fight instead of the Biolizard. I also hope Shadow doesn't die in the end. Even though he "dies" at the end of SA2, they still brought him back (regardless of how good the method was). This could be their chance to make it feel more natural.
For Sonic Movie 3, The latest theory is that the line Maddie stated in the first movie, might've been teasing Shadow, Sonic 3 events, and G.U.N. from the start.
"There been a Wachowski protecting this town for over 50 years."
If this theory is correct, it's possible that Tom's father is the one who shot Maria or played a hand in it, and after the incident, he moved to Green Hills, and became a cop. The boat scene with Tom and Sonic in the movie, Tom stated to Sonic along the lines of his dad wanting to make things right. There could be a flashback scene of a Young Tom and his father having that same conversation. ~The Wachowski Special
Shadow mistakes Tom for his father, and decides to not only attack Sonic, but try to kill Tom personally to avenge Maria.
This is the perfect way to include the human characters in the story once again to make them relevant, and beneficial to the story.
As for what I want to see in Sonic 3.
1. Agent Stone being the unexpected villian for Sonic and Co. and the one to find Shadow first.
2. Robotnik injuries from the last battle resulting in an eye injury giving him his trademark glasses, and another one resulting in weight gain to become fat Eggman.
3. More family moments between Sonic and the Wachowskis
4. Maddie throwing hands like Tom😂.
5. Tails' backstory, and more character development for him and Knuckles.
6. A small backstory about the commander, and how he instantly identified it was Project Shadow.
7. Scenes about what happened with Shadow 50 years ago, who captured him, and decided to seal him away, and how did Robotnik found out about it to have the coordinates on his system.
8. I guess some dark elements, which there should be, cause of Shadow.
9. Jason Griffith or Kirk Thornton as the voice of Shadow.
Sounds like something that could work. But I feel Tom's ancestor would be against what happened to Maria and try in vain to save her. But Shadow could mistake him as being the one to kill her. My guess for Eggman getting fat might be from feeling down over his latest loss since he lost twice now, and eating too much.
I also hope Amy can come to the movies as well, finding Sonic and co through magic instead of science like Tails. With Amy not only falling for Sonic like in the games, but also being the one to remind Shadow of Maria's true wish of giving everyone a chance at a happier future. With Shadow seeing similarities between himself and Maria with Sonic and Amy respectively, he also would try to make sure they don't suffer the same fates he and Maria did. Maybe Maddie and Jojo could give Amy her trademark red dress too, just like Jojo gave Sonic his red and white shoes.

the point and convenience is understood, but Shadow's sacrifice and removing his inhibitor rings is a huge moment that I doubt the writers would put to waste
Great video! I personally want Amy to be introduced as well, her character can be developed well as Shadow, and Amy is a integral character for Shadows eventual growth at the end of SA2 because it’s Amy who convinced shadow to do the right thing

same here. Plus if they introduce Amy. They need to have her help break Sonic out of his prison cell like how she did in Adventure 2 and X. And to also have an explanation for her being on earth. Such as her following Sonic all this time and stalking him

I do still hope for metal sonic, obviously not as the main villain but as the final one that sonic and shadow team up against. Robotnik/Stone still have the quill and I feel they keep foreshadowing with it but haven’t used it to it’s full extent, and what better use than using it to power metal. Also I think it would be cool to do the fleetway name of Metalix.

@@billymanziel5666 He'd really be only be able to do that if he was the metal overlord version. Base metal sonic and other incarnations usually take a supporting role to robotnic. The villain of sonic CD was robotnic after all, Metal Sonic was his sort of Henchmen project.
@Nigel Stoney I think if they're making a cinematic universe, it'd definitely better to do this. Have metal sonic be sonics Ultimate rival, am unrelenting enemy he simply can't reason with.

I think Shadow needs his own movie. I want characters like Amy and Rouge to show up and have their own shine, but like you said it would just be too much and it take away from Shadow's arc. And even if they don't bring in other characters, I still think Shadow's backstory needs just a little bit more than one movie can fit. (Maybe a short film idk)
In regards to Eggman, he's def not *needed* anymore, but I do still want him present. They went out of their way to point out that he was an orphan in the first movie. I think that could lead to an interesting arc for Eggman considering he worked for the people that killed his entire family and (probably) didn't even know.
When it comes to other characters being established though I think we all forget that Knuckles has a series coming out also. I’m not in charge of anything but I could see someone like Rouge the bad being established/introduced there. I hope to see her or Amy by the time three comes around. It’d be nice to have a female cg character to join. Plus I really want to see that shadow and Amy conversation 😭 If it happens, because another possibility is us getting a completely new story altogether with inspiration taken.

i think Amy should be introduced by having her break Sonic out of jail since they're doing the adventure 2 plot and all. And her origins of being on earth can be explained that she followed Sonic all around this time and stalked him like how Tails did. Only Amy got sent to earth or something that could explain her going to earth
@@Du-yw1pz I always thought if they introduced Amy they could say she was one of Tails only friends from their planet. Found out where he was followed and boom now she's there. And of course she meets Sonic for the 1st time but it would also be her meeting everyone else. And being along for the ride sort of how she was in the game, only this time more involvement.
@@awright555 right exactly and given the current direction that SEGA's going with her character on making her more mature and independent she can definitely be like that too. But her crush on Sonic can be toned down and they can do it where it's not exaggerated or obsessive.
I can’t wait to see Shadow appear on the big screen I think Amy, Rouge, and possibly Metal Sonic in the post credit scene setting up Sonic 4 I feel like that would make the most sense depending if Jim Carey a.k.a Eggman/Doctor Robotnik is in the next movie

I think I found a way for Robotnik to have an influence in the story without having Jim Carrey come back. Reveal that before he died he made a robotic replica of Sonic and implemented his consciousness inside of it as a backup measure for if he died. This could also explain how he had literally no reaction to falling. And imagine Metal Sonic with the genius of Robotnik.

I think Rouge will be introduced in the Knuckles series as a villain, so introducing in the third movie won't be much problem. I hope so.
I enjoyed Sonic movies 1 + 2 as simple fun family movies. I'm gonna be real: I don't think they have what it takes to adapt the SA2 Shadow story in a compelling way, at least based on how they tackled the first two.
SA2 would be really easy to adapt into a Live-Action movie, since it has so many important human characters, but they would have to shift the tone away from "Haha we're funny guys who eat at Olive Garden" to a more tear-jerking dramatic style plot
Exactly. I’d love nothing more then for an adaptation of SA2 (they really don’t need to adapt much especially where Shadow is concerned) but it wouldn’t fit the current theme. I think it’s definitely possible like looking at Harry Potter, the first film is a far cry from the last in terms of tone and even the age rating went up but I’m not sure if they’ll do it. They know what sells and that sonic is targeted towards children. HOWEVER… it’s clear they know what we want by the fact they even introduced Shadow in the first place and the reaction from the fans has surely shown them how important he is to us as fans so let’s pray they respect that.

What I think is a few possibilities: 1.) 2 Part movie unless they add more characters in the franchise and show decent character development. 2.) Have Agent Stone free Shadow if Jim Carrey doesn't return as the role of Robotnik or have him in a dialogue or like a back-and-forth cutscene where Robotnik has an audio file, Agent Stone listens to it, and have Agent Stone go look for Project Shadow. 3.) Maybe just have Shadow randomly escape from his container and goes ape poop.
Shadow didn’t get killed off in Sonic X, he had his own games after Sonic Adventure 2!
You know what another villain I would like to see in the future of Sonic the hedgehog cinematic universe? Metal Sonic. It would be awesome to see him in the big screen.
Shadow riding a bike and holding a pistol will never not be simultaneously funny and cool. Technically it's a miniature motorcycle, too. But yes, I hope any of the humor that comes from the character will be situational like how they treated Knuckles and that his tragic past is well written and comes across as genuine.
I want paramount to have lots on focus on shadow me Maria’s relationship to make the audience really feel for them if they go with that route.
I feel like Paramount isn’t gonna kill Shadow off. If they do that, he should just part ways with Sonic, showing he has his respect at the end of the movie. Runs off doing his own thing after they go see if he’s okay after defeating Chaos or the Biolizard.
*The Biolizard was never that exciting to me of a monster compared to Chaos. If they got Sonic and Shadow to fight CHAOS instead and altered the story to Chaos being the Ultimate life form/ inspiration for Project Shadow, I’d be so happy.
@Nigel Stoney Well the movies ain't being THAT accurate to the games either, so that's out the window. They're cherry picking plot points that's good to fit into the story without really making a movie about used cutscenes. Plus this is a movie, they adapt things differently from the story while being faithful in it's own take.
@Nigel Stoney There's nothing funny about that because they generally know that is too much. They're more of seeing Shadow, Rouge, Amy, Metal Sonic, Chaotixs to be featured in certain projects. They said if there's other known stories that couldn't be in one movie, there's always a chance to revisit someday. It's their vision/take/canon that's inspired by the games. They take inspiration from popular Sonic games into a original story that works similar how novels and comic books adapt. Mixing plot elements while making a original story to keep them fresh for newcomers to enjoy without getting confused, while most faithfulness is there for fans to enjoy. I guess you don't really like change or new takes, you just want the movies to go by your's greedily because "they suppose to go by each game" when simple is good. :p
@Nigel Stoney Not even when Jim Carrey is gonna be done after three since he's gonna finish the transformation of Robotnik with the fat and IQ as the final form and farewell. Silver and Blaze is super unlikely to appear in the movies because they only thought of Shadow, Amy, Rouge, Metal, Big, and the Chaotixs appearing. Big was gonna cameo in 2, but it cost a lot to render a full model by design thoughts. He only fit with his own spin-off shorts.
CD involves time travel, it requires to make Earth futuristic to create the iconic zones. If they did that of the size of Detective Pikachu's, it would've been an automatic fail because they couldn't double their $150M budget to make over $500M in total to make a sequel. And it might be cancelled because it wasn't enough. Even when video games don't tend to make a lot of money due to the years of failures to be more real. It's not like the Sonic canon isn't consistent with their connections to previous games currently.
@Nigel Stoney Not even sure you understand limits of video game movies on how much box office money they make because Warcraft and Detective Pikachu is a example of having a big budget that fails it's doubling it's cost for sequels to make. Even to CGI'd a future city if you want them to adapt CD for the time travel plot. Because video game movies don't make a lot of money they can only go over $400M, but not over $500M to double what they spent of $150-160M. Not even sure you know CD takes place before Sonic 2 in the games either.
I kind of want to see them play with Movie Sonic’s origins more and how that will play into him encountering Shadow for the first time, I’d love to see Sonic speculate more on who Shadow is and why he looks so similar to him then he does in SA2, because they barely even address it other than the whole ‘impostor’ thing. With Movie Sonic though they could have him wonder if Shadow could be his ‘long lost brother’ or something, have him really ruminate on why he looks so similar to him as well as the fact that he’s ‘faster’ than him as it might seem at first. Because surely Sonic knows Longclaw isn’t his real mother, and his true lineage has never been addressed. That would be an interesting direction to take.
I would also love for them to use Tom as a major part of the whole mistaking Shadow for Sonic thing, where maybe it’s all over the news that something speedy is causing trouble and a picture of a hedgehog-silhouette is captured so Tom actually thinks it’s Sonic being irresponsible and grounds him or something, then Sonic goes out determined to clear his name and see what’s actually causing the menace and that’s how he encounters Shadow.
I also actually disagree on them having to kill Shadow off to get a fulfilling arc. I think as long as they keep the whole Shadow is willing to sacrifice himself but they soften the blow so he doesn’t actually die in the end in a way that is smart and respectful could still work, and it could be really sweet if it just serves as a beginning for Shadow to become the hero and beacon of hope Maria wanted him to be, as well as make up for the ‘wrong’ he does and ‘forgetting’ the promise he made to her.
I do agree on not having Shadow ‘move in’ with the crew though. Yeah no. Shadow definitely needs to be on his own in that respect.
i agree too, personally not fan of the "lost relative" but i remember that in a sa2 vid they we're speculating on this and talked about how gerald def knew about chaos and echidnas considering the ark's design and in one of those echidnas temple's (i forgot the name) in sonic 3 there's a mural of sonic and eggman fighting like a prophecy so maybe getald looked at it and from here is where shadow comes from
it would be cool if this was outright confirmed or something similar to it instead of fans connecting the dots
I disagree about Tom mistaking sonic and thinks that he’s being irresponsible because after the events in the movie also in sonic x show shadow steals the chaos emerald from a jewelry so I don’t think Tom would think that sonic would steal

But I feel like if there’s some super fast thing causing a mess it would be more a case of well who else could it be other than Sonic because they don’t know Shadow exists.

SA2 has;
•Child murder.
•Elderly scientist becomes a traitor to the government and gets the death penalty.
•Half of the Moon gets blown-up.
Shadow 05 has;
•Guns
•An alien warlord that wants to conquer Earth to have humans as a food source.
The 3rd Movie needs to be PG-13 if it wants to be accurate to the source material.

I have a theory here. I think in this universe Robotik maybe Maria's Father instead of Gerald Robotnik. Maybe Shadow will meet Maria. Shadow starts have a crush on Maria.
When Robotnik finds out Maria has been with shadow, he takes Maria hostage and Shadow attempts to save her but fails. Shadow then gets his revenge on Robotnik.
I think that would fit the story more.
Totally agree that Sonic & Shadow should not be friends. They'll sometimes have mutual respect for one another, and they'll occasionally work together when there is a common goal at hand.. but once that goal is complete, they go their separate ways. They are never intended to be buddies in the same way that Sonic & Knuckles are. Hopefully the film stays true to this.

@@gracekim1998 Not even. I'd say Sonic and Knuckles are more-so friendly rivals. As where, unless Sonic and Shadow are working together, they are primarily enemies. They overall have a very different moral code.

We need Amy and Rouge too tbh, we haven't gotten female sonic characters in movies yet, even Colleen said it herself that she wants Amy in the next film or future film
Amy and knuckles are my favourite characters and I’d like to see Amy in this next one. As long as she’s portrayed in a way that doesn’t reflect Amy in sonic heroes for example. I want her fun, caring personality to be the selling point of her character, not being annoying and asking Sonic to marry her every 2 seconds. I have high expectations that if she’s in the 3rd movie she’s going to have a good balance like tails, who idolises sonic but also doesn’t go over the top and always focuses on completing the mission. I think Amy will be in the third movie.
@@EmmaxoOCE I've had discussions with people after the first Sonic Movie came out that if they were to ever introduce Amy, I'd actually like it if they do a switcharoo on their dynamic and make Sonic the one who has a crush on Amy, and make Amy the one who gets annoyed by it. I think it would be interesting to see the alternate perspective of their dynamic and I think it would be fitting for the film version of Sonic.

Even with Shadow, if Metal Sonic and Amy also get added in the mix (which I hope they do) I want all characters to have their stories properly developed. And even if Shadow and Sonic don’t become allies at the end, please let Shadow make the ultimate sacrifice at the final battle!

I believe they should go the route they did in the games. That is, have Shadow sacrifice himself in the third movie, but in later movies reveal that, one way or another, he survived. I get that his character arc ending in self-sacrifice is really impactful, but I feel like having a character like Shadow around could be a great way to have someone with a "darker" viewpoint on situations, and killing him off in the same movie he's introduced effectively eliminates that viewpoint before it can really be shown.
Or at least, that's what I'd like to tell myself. Truth is, I'm a super fanboy of Shadow and I don't want him to die permanently because I always want more Shadow lol.

Just watched Sonic 2 last night and it was absolutely epic in my opinion. Definitely going to watch it again, totally worth my money! Won't give out any spoilers for those who haven't watched yet, but as far as spoilers for the ending, I hope to see the other characters like Amy, Rouge and Cream. And possibly an appearance of Metal Sonic, or perhaps Chaos Zero? I don't know, I just can't wait till the next sequel!

@@SegaDisneyUniverse Pretty sure they're doing games that's classic era, and adventure era. And I don't think Cream isn't appearing in the movies. I can see Metal Sonic, Amy Rose, Rouge, and Chaos appearing. Chaotixs can be easily be a fit for a TV series, plus they appeared in the Sonic Movie prequel comic.
I really do have my fingers crossed for a Shadow/Team Dark show.
The fan boy in me wants the three Hedgehog Boys to fight Chaos together in Sonic 4 or 5
I'd honestly LOVE to see Silver in one of the future games (possibly Blaze too if they go by the video game appearances).
There's a chance to become an instant trash fire if they won't establish time travel pretty damn SOON. If Rouge just pops up out of Knuckles series and then we even get Silver going "lol i'm here too and I can time travel!" the movie canon will just be an endless stream of senseless bullcrap.
@Nigel Stoney It's a different continuity. Sonic, Knuckles and Tails are weaker than their game counterparts. Who knows?
After seeing the 2nd movie, I kept thinking about shadow, rouge, and amy being included next. I mean shadow & rouge came into the sonic franchise at the same time, so I don't see why not.
I have high hopes that Jason voices Shadow, if that happens it’s gonna literally break the internet.

This might sound really dumb but I hope this next movie is a 12 rated movie, purely so that they are able to show off Shadows story without dumbing it down for audiences. I feel the Maria storyline won’t be able to be translated to the big screen unless the movie is rated 12, otherwise they’d have to do a much less serious version. Also I don’t care how they do it, the humans like Tom and Maddie etc NEED to be almost completely out of this movie so we can fully connect to Shadows character. I do NOT want to see his character butchered. They managed to not butcher Knuckles’s character in this sequel but only because he’s a character that never needed too much of his backstory explained to be good. Shadow NEEDS his backstory to fully work or he’ll be considered an edge lord or a “evil Sonic copy” by casuals and critics alike. I also want this movie to be very long but only because I do think they can introduce more characters like Rouge but it will only work if there’s enough screen time of Shadow and that can only happen if this will be a long movie. But in the end I just *really* want this third movie to be not just good but amazing and also more emotional. It *cannot* have the goofy human moments that this sequel has or those emotional moments won’t hold any weight and no one will actually take this movie anymore seriously than mindless fun

Actually, that's what they're gonna do because Jeff Fowler (director) talked about the post-credit scene and it'll possibly give the third film a change of tone. Meaning, it'll be darker. And they can't repeat the fish-out-of-water humor from Knuckles on Shadow. They're very aware of his importance and it'll shift the third film's tone leaned darker.

If they do the same tone as the first-two films and the fish-out-of-water humor as Knuckles, it's formulaic. They're highly aware how very important Shadow is both personality and story. The tone is basically SA2 where it's fun, but darker.

Considering how silly Movie 2 got at times, my main concern is how they will handle the tone of Movie 3. Shadow's backstory is pretty depressing and that's going to be a huge whiplash. Can you imagine a scene of the Ark raid suddenly going to a scene with a dance off or a fart joke? Cause I can't

My biggest hope for sonic movie 3 is that they play live and learn during the final battle.

Honestly, I think Adding Amy makes sense, and I really hope that the good part of her character is added.
Amy isn't weak, and doesn't rely on Sonic 24/7 like in Sonic CD, She has become an Independent character full of comedy and personality that would be great for the movie, she could even be used as the light to shadows dark? Or, Amy could just be Shadows friend, and they could just live in the woods or something like actual wild hedgehogs.
Tbh though I really want Amy, she is the only one of my favourites that hasn't appeared in movie form yet, I hope she gets added

My only problem with them doing a Shadow story right now was that he was completely based on ancient drawings of Sonic fighting Perfect Chaos... so that whole lore is out the window here... and there's probably no chance of seeing Perfect chaos on screen. So now how do they explain another hedgehog that looks like Sonic? And do they let Black Doom to be a part of this lore? I feel like it would have been better to build up to this point after one more movie in between. This should have just been called Shadow The Hedgehog instead of Sonic 3 and focused on mostly him.
Yeah i said it before, they need to adapt the SA1 plot before introducing Shadow, and The Space Colony arc etc. I think it will lose its empact entirely when it comes to the lore they try to establish for the movie franchise.
The issue is that Dr. Robotnik is very essential to Sonic as in the games he is the instigator of all the main plot points. And I'd rather not have them adapt characters that are not officially from Sonic Team and the games.

To avoid oversaturating Sonic 3 with too many characters, I think Amy, Rouge and the Chaotix should be introduced in the Knuckles show.
My Idea for show: Knuckles is visiting the different zones looking for the chaos emeralds after super Sonic sent them away from movie 2. Knuckles runs into the Chaotix and gets their help (Knuckles Chaotix storyline). This is also when they can introduce Rouge by herself because she finds one emerald and wants to get the others, because she's a jewel thief and Knuckles has to also chase her through the first season.
I think Agent stone should create Metal Sonic, who kidnaps Amy, but that could be a one or two episode arc with Sonic saving her just to introduce Amy and Metal.

I also hope Amy is in the movie. Already got knuckles who is my other favourite. Amy is actually a good character. It’s just that in some games her writing is terrible, like sonic heroes for example where she’s annoying and rude. But in most games she’s actually very sweet, protective of her friends and is dedicated to her hobbies. Her determined nature despite not really having any strong powers like knuckles, shadow or sonic is what makes her awesome.
I highly doubt Shadow will be perma killed. I mean I guess he could live on as a Shadow android in this universe but I don't think it'll happen. Including his story content from both SA2 and his own game is one aveune I could see working. We need to bring in more aliens one way or another. This movie could also flesh out the GUN commander character as well. I've mentioned this in a different comment but Jojo could be used as a Maria surrogate in present time for Shadow potentially. She really hasn't had much screen time for a reoccurring character. A choas emerald hunt seems like an obvious narrative structure.

Shadow didn’t REALLY die, he used up all his energy in his super state and went missing floating through space, everyone presumed he is dead.
Remember Eggman has sonics hair, he could make a sonic clone, and there could be 2 villains of the movie, and you don't have to kill off shadow, I suggest he works for gun
I think that somehow, someway, Sonic Movie 3 should be a 2 parter. Like Avengers, Harry Potter, and the OG, S3&K. If they treat Shadow right, and Jim Carrey returns (possibly), for 2 more movies, that could be possible. We will see.

Tbh, with the cast we do have, is it really possible to develop shadow as well as he can be? I mean Shadow is at the end of the day a caring individual who is willing to go to extreme lengths to do what he believes is right. However, a lot of his development and understanding of what was right and who he is came from external characters like Rouge and Amy. I wouldn’t really want Tom and Maddy to have such roles like how Sonic X replaced Amy casually. I think that would be a missed opportunity. That’s why I think Paramount are in a very sticky position seeing as a lot of integral characters are not present for a plot that involved many characters. (Really praying they don’t Sonic Boom shadow of IDW him either. His SA2 version is the best however I would y complain if shadow did return as long as team dark is explored in some way shape of form as they’re my favourite trio)

my main concern is just the movie’s PG rating. of course there’s plenty we want to see. i dearly want shadow and his relationship with maria to seem legit, that way when she’s killed it really shows why it impacted shadow to such a deep level. it’s really just how they decide to form his character. gerald and maria may not even exist in this continuity for all we know. shadow’s story is just so dark, man. i bet several parents would be so pissed if they took their children to see a PG rated movie and a young human girl is killed off so violently ( if incorporated in the story that way of course); even if it’s simply implied. not to mention gerald who gets gunned down in sa2 too.. i REALLY doubt they’ll incorporate that. ugh so tricky i really wonder what’s gonna happen. i feel the story could be better flushed out with a PG-13 rating but who knows if that’s even something paramount would be willing to do for sonic since the first two movies are so kid friendly already. we perhaps should not rule out the possibility of them completely overhauling shadow’s origin and doing something new like they did with sonic and long claw? would love to know what others think about this sorry for the long response lol

Honestly my theory for the villain had to do with stone being in the post credits scene my theory is that he learns about the coordinates while he's undercover searching for robotnic and tries to recover the files and learns about robotnics grandfather's project then he becomes the new villain because robotnic is still missing thinking he'll possibly return if he uses shadow to take down sonic

Tbh, something weird I would like to see would be Maria as Eggman’s mother rather than his cousin and have her pass after sending him off to the orphanage, and I would also like to see eggman be a sacrifice for the greater good as a sort of redemption arc and lead in to Jim’s retirement
I’m one of those Sonic fans who doesn’t really mind what the movies do, I mean the writers already spent a section of the first movie setting up the human characters so to completely forget about them would’ve been a little inconsistent. So in a way I can understand why they did the wedding sub-plot but at the same time I do agree it was a little dragged out.
But in Sonic Movie 3 they need to take all the Sonic characters and the human characters and focus on one plot: Project Shadow, which includes focusing on:
1. Discovering Space Colony Ark
2. Defeating Shadow
3. Revealing the Robotnic family (Gerald & Maria)
Sonic didn’t save the world in the first movie, he saved himself. Robotnik only cared about capturing sonic, once he thinks he’s dead he just talks to other humans in a non threatening way.
He did manage to save green hills in the second. The third movie is when the whole world is in danger of being destroyed and sonic has to save it before it’s too late.
I have theory prediction for Sonic 3: (Spoilers)
We’ll probably get Chaos as well in the film. The reason why I think of this is because we been told that the Echidna tribe was wiped out the same day Longclaw saved Sonic and that’s the same story in Sonic adventure where Knuckles people were wiped out by Chaos. Having that detailed told I’m the sorry can make an impact once we learn the truth in the sequel. I believe the directors planned this for Jim Carrey both ways if he is or isn’t gonna be the sequel. Since Sonic scattered the emeralds around the world, it a good opportunity for them to explore worlds and meet other characters like Rogue, Amy, Big and Cream. Chaos could manipulate Shadow in helping him collect the emeralds since shadow hates humanity for what they did to Maria and Sonic being associated with humans will create conflict. Later on Shadow learns to appreciate the human race and help Sonic out to take down perfect Chaos. Shadow does the ultimate sacrifice similar to adventures but with Chaos instead. People might complain that Chaos and shadow never meet but this would still be a cool idea to implement both characters as the antagonists of the film if Carrey will retire from acting. What do u guys think?
Honestly, they joked about a cinematic universe using the MCU as a comparison. I think a standalone origin story movie for Shadow would be great. We don't constantly need to focus Sonic, and giving him a proper intro could give people a reality check for when he and sonic meet. I think Rouge and Amy are both pretty integral to Shadow as a character in his own development and redemption, so I honestly think they need to be brought in as well, but I agree in that they shouldn't add in more than 2 big characters to a movie. But I definitely hope we get a big Avengers-level moment for the SCU.
I definitely see them doing a shadow series or a movie. Imo, Shadow is the second most popular/interesting character in the Sonic series. With the fact that they’re creating a sonic cinematic universe, Shadow only having one appearance is really unlikely.

I don't think we really need Amy or Rouge in the third film because I really want the writers to focus on Shadow's story and make it perfect. It is a dark storyline after all. The third movie will already have a big cast with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Tom and Maddie, Agent Stone, Shadow, Maybe Dr. Robotnic, and Maria and Dr. Robotnic's grandfather. I think they have plenty of characters in for the next movie that won't feel overwhelming for everyone and the writers. Plus I think Sonic can do just fine in convincing Shadow to turn good instead of Amy. Also there has to be a good reason as to why Amy or Rouge wants to go to Earth.
