I don't think so. By this logic, Alicent should've butchered Rhaenys before she got the opportunity. I think people crying for X or Y to die are missing the entire point of the Dance. This was a supreme screw up from everyone involved, especially Otto and Rhaenyra. If everyone showed restraint like Alicent and Rhaenys, the war might have been avoided.
I was blown away by the details of the coronation. It felt like watching Nicholas II being crowned in an Orthodox ceremony with all the hollow pomp & circumstance of a rotting system. It's what I'd always envisioned from a GoT coronation. Tom Glynn-Carney was terrific in bringing out Aegon's emotions of fear, hesitation, pride & euphoria all at once. I'm glad they kept much despised Criston putting the Conqueror's crown on Aegon II's head. The Kingmaker is born! What the show's doing really well is the details, down to locking up servants. Usually the passionate debates, the sense of treachery & heartbreak are glossed over. We only see the regime change as a "fait accompli". This bring to life the mechanism that historically goes behind a coup, which I assume is as emotionally taxing for the people seizing power. That's why I like agonized & conflicted Alicent more than her steadfast source counterpart. It's more flesh & blood. She vacillates but her messianic fear for her children fates her to make a cursed gamble. *Jokes aside, I only support my Green Lives Matter King for the extermination of Strong Boys cause I'm pro Valeryian blood supremacy.*
@@andyrobin7196 You can view it as being solely in favor of Rhaenyra but it's not the only thing she's been standing up for, it's just the only thing that her entourage tends to act on and since Rhaenyra is shoved as the main character it's the angle that's the easiest to grasp as a viewer. She also obviously wants her children to be safe, she clearly doesn't want to be used, she wants loyalty, she wants justice etc. Just because her children's safety isn't only in her hands, she does get used and there's no justice doesn't mean she doesn't want anything

The Greens are not perfect. But Rheanyra is morally corrupt. Daemon is a known wild card. And Rhaenys just killed hundreds of innocents without batting an eyelid. I really like that both sides in this show are as good/bad as each other.
You are dumb as shit if you think the blacks are as bad as the greens at this point. They will be (maybe not, because Aemond does by far the worst shit), but they are not yet even if they are pretty bad too.
Rhaenys hasn't read Fire & Blood to know of horrors to come. So her pre-emptively nuking half her own family would've been OP. Having said that, the Rhaenys bit was to give audience a 'send home happy' moment which wasn't necessary. The coronation was fantastic in itself. But gawd forbid the ''bad guys' are on top in simply 1 single episode. Those who thought lowborns of KL have any obligation to support Rhaenyra are in for big disappointments. Aegon claims his birthright from popular King Jaehaerys' Great Council stating king's firstborn male son is next king. Viserys himself won it over Rhaenys like that. Best part of this was the politics, less dragons the better. Despairing mom version of alicent does highlight her humanity more than the colder iteration of the actual green council. A well needed adjustment imo but also a continuation of her very humane Harrenhall or knife scene mistake. Her self-delusion about the prophecy goes along with her show character of "hiding behind the cloak of self-righteousness". They've constantly shown subtleties in her character which audience wilfully ignores since we're watching this as a team sport and gotta cheer team lovable manipulative dad. Her being more humanized shouldn't be an issue unless one wants the show to remain grotesquely tilted towards Black (Laenor death, etc)
It was a good episode but a very frustrating one as well like the issues I have with this episode is the death of the master of coin guy could have done it like in the book where criston slit his throat, they made alicent into a victim which I didn't like because she meant to be evil and a monster, rhaenys killing hundreds of people with her dragon during aegon crowning and not killing the hightowers like wtf, a line of dialogue saying "women prevent men from killing everything" like what like remember in got where cersei burned that place with wildfire in season 6 and dany burning King's landing to the ground in season 8 so the show contradict that line of dialogue from what came before so what.
They completely removed Criston’s kingmaker speech and his role in getting Aegon on the throne, which annoyed me the most as I’ve been building that up to my friends for months and now they think I was just making shit up as the only thing he did this episode was accident Lord Beesbury to death. 😂
The death of the master of coin is indeed a change from the books, because the were witnesses, but you gotta remember how the books are written and how the books are supposed to be interpreted... Alicent's behavior isn't really a departure or break of canon from the books, they are just showing the real events and how it happens... There is NO QUESTION that the 3rd party observers that "wrote" the books were HEAVILY bias towards team Black and many of the instances were they had little to no knowledges of the events they portrayed to worst possible interpretation for characters like Alicent... For that maester and that jester there isn't a need or reason to distinguish between what Alicent wanted or did and what Otto wanted or did or Larys or anybody, in the events that happened in private and behind closed doors.. So the public perception in the books, was that Team Green was evil and that Alicent was the master mind behind it because she was the face, but that's just it, public perception; this show is meant to show you what actually happens from the POV of the characters... We gotta remember that when the show "deviates" from the books, the books are meant to be inaccurate accounts of events, the show is meant to be what really happens, written and overseen (at least this season) by G R R Martin himself
Alicent IS still a monster... what they keep doing is giving her "outs" or justifications for herself to explain her own actions- that does not however make them honorable or right at all. Comparing her to Cersei, In my mind she's worse- because she's a hypocrite. Cersei knows exactly who and what she is and offers no apologies for that or her actions. Whereas Alicent is like one of those ladies who goes to church and does all the right things on the surface.... but the deeper you go with her, they just gets more and more rotten. It's worse because you're dealing with someone who IS a monster, but instead of owning that, has convinced themselves that they are, in fact, righteous and honorable. It's the worst kind of bad... to me at least. Regarding Rhaenys... what choice did she have? Sacrifice her own life... But if she dies in King's Landing without getting out of there, then the Green side gets her dragon for starters... and then Otto figures out a way to bring the Valaryians to their side because they need them AND he's still butthurt about what happened last episode. She had to get out right then. She had to take her dragon. If she waits around for the place to empty out, they discover her and she's executed. Also, I assume she's going straight to Dragonstone to inform Rhaenyra about what has happened- as she doesn't even know of her father's death yet, much less the usurping of the crown. So in a weird way, she's trying to save the Kingdom. Yes, very unfortunate, but I think when you look at it like that, they had left her very little choice by imprisoning her there... with execution sure to follow... or some other fucked up shenanigans in order to gain control of the Valaryian fleet.
stop talking shit about Alicent, how about that? This is no Disney cartoon with some evil step mother shit, ok. For team black fan, everything the green did have to be wrong and everything the black did have to be right. Any chance of showing the good side of the green has to be shutdown. How about you stop your bullshit bias?
She thinks Reneyra killed her son and daemon was the reason her daughter died in a strange land away from her family So it's weird she didn't just back the greens from the start
Rhaenys not burning Alicent and Aegon was her declaration of war, and that Princess Rhaenyra is the one who should burn them all. Get ready to see a lot of dragons for the last episode.
Can we address how this whole show is meticulous in details, yet She just murdered hundreds of innocent people with her dragon? not gonna be good for the black team
It's also curious that Alicent has been so obsessed with Rhaenyra's romantic/ sexual activities yet is trying to crown her serial rapist son as king and has a foot fetish torturer minion jerking off to her feet. Rhaenyra getting lonely being married to a gay man and seeking affection elsewhere seems far less morally objectionable than the company Alicent keeps.
That man wasn't just defending what Viserys wanted, he was implying Alicent had the King killed or even offed him herself You got it but it was made clear by interviews that the feet thing is yet another thing she's coerced into doing. I personally found it obvious by her reactions the entire time from the moment she heard his voice and her saying "The hour is late" which echoes what she said when she wanted to avoid being called to the King's bed that one night (which didn't work, same way it didn't work here). But it seems like a lot of people found it funny or even disgusting on her part for some reason
For Cole it's a matter of respect and honour and responsibility Alicent is loyal to her husband , to her responsibility as the Queen and as a mother Reneyra kept bitching and delaying her responsibility to extend the family and put the future of the seven kingdoms in danger by having bastard children And everybody thinks that he killed her husband to marry her uncle
Crispy is all about blind devotion, has nothing to do with respect, honor or anything close to it. Ser Harrold is honorable, Ned Stark is honorable, Crispy is all about image and ego. Alicent is loyal to her children. Visery made a choice and stuck to it, when it comes to Rhaenyra being his heir. Alicent choose to hear what she wanted to hear on his deathbed while he was high as a kite so that Che can do what she really wants to do without feeling guilty. She’s not as bad as Otto, but that’s not saying much imo. And are you seriously saying that Rhaenyra is bad person for her AND Laenor making a decision that would be mutually beneficial to each of them? Lol she is actually letting herself take all of the heat, so that Laenor can go off into the sunset with his love, but she’s a bad person for that. I also have no idea what you mean by her trying to delay her responsibility by extending her family.
@@sirimity she hears the words the price who was promised of course she is going to think that She strongly opposes his husband's wishes by trying to keep his daughter safe Cole is kingsgaurd and a Knight blind devotion is honour to him
Though Alicent didn't know the context of what the king meant, she was telling the truth about what she heard and was carrying out what she believed his wishes were. So it's refreshing to hear another woman saying a woman's word shouldn't be believed.
The king never once said he wishes Aegon to be king. He talked about Aegon's dream and said "you" are the one to unite the realm. Alicent heard what she wanted to hear
Honestly one can't blame Alicent in this moment. She DID hear Viserys talk about Aegon being on the throne and of course she would think he means his son. In all of this I really do feel sorry for Alicent. She was pushed into this situation by Otto and now has to deal with the coming rebellion herself. And you can really tell she does still love Rhaenyra, otherwise she would not try to protect her this much. Well until now XD Let's see what'll happen in the future
Eh, can also be seen as her using a misunderstanding as an out for her conscious. She did what she was always going to do, but in order to alleviate herself of responsibility, she uses the misunderstanding as justification. She was always going to do what she did... would have just been some other justification. She's been treating Aegon as though he was going to be the King the entire time. She's been covering up his "episodes" with girls so that his name remains honorable. While confronting Aegon about the Pig/ Dragon incident... she told him "what they know. what everyone in the realm knows. In their blood and in their bones... Is that one day, YOU will be our King."

It amazes me to see how people saying Rhaeny should've burn them all and be the end of it. At that point of time, no Targaryen has killed another Targaryen yet, if she goes on killing all the Green house royal members which as same family as the black house as royal Targaryens, even if Rhaeny flys back to Rhaenyra saying 'I killed them all, now you won' when Rhaenyra did not even know the war has barely started. Rhaeny would definitely be killed for that sooner or later; secretly or not secretly; with charge or no charge for killing half of the family first. The war hasn't really truly started for among the Targaryens until the first Targaryen being killed, then it just escalates and escalates to a madness, which I think is going to start really soon as I remember from the book, next eposide I guess, the season finale. That'd be a good end for the season1.
Not even close. Joffrey was a literal spoiled sadist who wanted to be king just so he could abuse his power. Aegon on the other hand, is an irresponsible goofball who knows he's not suited to rule. Thus, he wants no part in being king. They are completely different in every single way.
If Rhaenys had killed them she would have been labelled a Kinslayer which is the greatest crime in Westeros. It was a bad ass power move and kind of calls back to Alicent telling Otto that refusing to murder is not weakness. Cannot wait for the Blacks finale!
They did my boy Ser criston dirty. In the book you get a sense of who he is. He is a man who rose from nothing to a kingsguard on his own skill. he is a man who values honour above all. What a f**cked up character, and Alicent was so disappointing at that moment, I mean, you're Queen and you let somebody do that to you? Dang! Very excited for next episode though!
Rhaenys is not declaring war. She still holds out hope that things can be resolved peacefully. Thats, and she doesn't want to be a kinslayer and kill half her family
I think Rhaenys didn't kill them all because she wants them to learn a harsher lesson than just a quick death. She wants them to witness the war that's coming, and to know exactly what their treachery will do to the Realm. Besides, it's also quite satisfying to get right up in their faces with that dragon and show them "You just fucked with the wrong ones". I wonder how many on that stage actually pissed themselves. I'm sure it was at least a couple. :)

I think it's confirmation bias really wanting to have a reason for her son to rule and the brainwashing from Otto that Rhaenyra would kill her children (I seriously doubt that) has pushed her to look for some solution to latch onto and this was all she needed to feel justified in launching a coup.
I swear, every time you say you like one of the characters they end up dying 🤣
In case you forgot, Helaena who is always predicting things said "Beware the beast beneath the boards" I would say her Dragon coming through the floor Qualifies! 👗👗👠👠😊😊💓💓
or aegon being found under that table lit with candles...
The look of wtf when Alicent put her feet on the table😂😂
Larys killed the hand of the king in exchange for the feet of the queen.
Imagine seething thru the best coronation ceremony in TV show history.
“There is a beast beneath the boards” … literally! When Rhaenys went down to the dungeon I was like “Please get a dragon” and BAM! Meleys! She should’ve “Dracarys!” all of them! Except Princess Helaena lol But yes, the other “beast” is the beast within that POS Aegon who will be corrupted by the crown. Ugh! Can’t wait for the finale! Thanks for the reaction!

Who's Alyssa? 🤔
Rhaenys is such a girlboss when she's murdering a bunch of innocent people, because the lives of smallfolk are ""of no consequence"
Both sides are gonna kill even more smallfolk going forward. Get used to it. Aemond is gonna roast the Riverlands.
Thats kinda the point. The high born's don't give a shit about the low born's.
Rhaenys ruthlessly murders thousands of innocent poor people, who were forced to attend against their will.
Who is the villain, again?
Everybody
She chose the only way out of the dragonpit. She knows that Rhaenyra will need her and Meleys
@@derkek7084 in what world is going through the floor with hundreds of innocents the only way out?
When I was a young boy, my father took me into the city, to see a marching a band.
He did it for the feet man has priority 🦶🦶🦶🦶🦶🦶🦶🦶🦶🦶
Rhaenys politely declining Alicent's offer. What a classy lady.
Definitely only respect that stopped all of them from being killed, also plot armor.
Aegon have an aura king for sure
Alicient wasn't lying, she just wasn't operating with all available information...glad to see her standing up to Otto, finally.
It wasn't the first time she talked back to him though
the only thing she ever stands up to him about is arguing in favour of Rhaenrya. Alicent still doesnt want anything or do anything.
@@soniaiboyako4023 She doesnt give a crap about her kids, she supported Rhaenyra being queen at the end of episode 8 even though she knew Daemon would almost certainly have to kill her children to remove the threat they'd pose to Rhaenyra's rule. She doesnt want to be used but spends the entire season just doing whatever her father or her husband tell her to do. Her only role in the green counsel is arguing on behalf of Rhaenyra and reluctantly going along with what she thinks her husband told her to do instead of leading the meeting and arguing in favour of her son like she did in the book. The only thing she seems to care about at all is Rhaenyra and they havent even been friends in like 20 years.
@@andyrobin7196 If your understanding is that her being used proves she didn't *not want it* bad enough then i'm not sure we're gonna go anywhere with this. This is like saying "if she didn't actually want to marry Viserys then why didn't she contest the marriage? if she didn't want to go to his chambers when summoned then why'd she have so many kids?" and that's a confused way of looking at it - and overall just not a very sound way to approach these situations so i think we can agree to disagree and leave it there before it gets any weirder
Telling the truth in the Game of Thrones universe will just get a person killed like that old man and Vaemond.
Attending a coronation too, apparently.
Why do I feel like you think Viserys was talking about Rhaenyra's son Aegon. He was talking about Aegon the Conqueror... Rhaenyra naming her son Aegon is of no consequence to what Viserys was talking about as he died...
"Joffrey is such an asshole."
"Which one do you mean? Joffrey Velaryon, Joffrey Lonmouth or Joffrey Baratheon?"
"Aegon is such an asshole."
"Which--"
The names in this show and GoT make me think of that Dragon Ball TFS Meme where there are three major components all called Vegeta.
She thinks Reneyra killed her son and daemon was the reason her daughter died in a strange land away from her family
So it's weird she didn't just back the greens from the start
I love your reactions so much! Haha. I’m just as into this series as you are 🙌🏾. Can’t WAIT for S2
Long Live the Greens.
5 episodes early: beautiful man
5 episodes later: get him out of here
Rhaenys not burning Alicent and Aegon was her declaration of war, and that Princess Rhaenyra is the one who should burn them all. Get ready to see a lot of dragons for the last episode.
Can we address how this whole show is meticulous in details, yet She just murdered hundreds of innocent people with her dragon? not gonna be good for the black team
Good thing nobody in the show actually gives a shit about the smallfolk
The psychology of Larys is interesting for a man with a clubbed foot, who struggles to walk, effecting his life every day to end up with a foot fetish
@@AKSBSU touché
The Aegon Viserys was referring to when talking to Alicent that caused this confusion, was Aegon The Conqueror not Aegon, Rhaenyra's son.
That man wasn't just defending what Viserys wanted, he was implying Alicent had the King killed or even offed him herself
You got it but it was made clear by interviews that the feet thing is yet another thing she's coerced into doing.

Criston did the same thing to Beesbury as Daemon did to Vaemond yet you freaked out this time
Except he did without order from the king or superior. Sooo it's different
@@yohanespaskal9352 Viserys never ordered daemon to kill him, also it doesn't make it morally better if you have the kings permission to commit murder
For Cole it's a matter of respect and honour and responsibility
Alicent is loyal to her husband , to her responsibility as the Queen and as a mother
Reneyra kept bitching and delaying her responsibility to extend the family and put the future of the seven kingdoms in danger by having bastard children
And everybody thinks that he killed her husband to marry her uncle

@@ben1ben2ben1 She thought he was talking about his dream from episode 3, having a son names Aegon born with a crown

Poor Larys, if only he'd been born after the internet was invented, he would have been in heaven when he saw Wikifeet 👀
Alicent started "Only Feet" way before lol
@@9clarkkent no she doesn’t even want aegon to rule which is why she makes the fake smile when he is named king

Lets not kid ourselves. Alicent heard what she wanted to hear. The king was drugged up and dying. He didn't know what was going on.
Larys really said send feet
The dragons name: Meleys the red queen spiky horns like a crown around her neck and by the way if Rhaenys burn em all down right there she would be brand as a kin slayer and also there wouldn't be anymore house of dragon season two.

Tbf referring to Larys and Alicent at least there’s no physical contact. It’s still violating but not as bad as it could be

Yeah, a shot that has a lot of collateral damage.
@@ThePointlessBox_ Rhaenrya didn’t start this war.
@@MyUniqueVibe she did by trying to pass bastards as legitimate heirs
The ending of this episode reminds me of the ending of Attack on Titan season 4 episode 5 'declaration of war', this was basically Rhaenys 'declaration of war' moment 😁
Rhaenys still wants to try resolve things peacefully. Thats why she doesn't kill them all (and it would be kinslaying)
She didn't kill them all because yes the evil is necessary because thats the nature of human kind but the queen knows really well what is the meaning of losing a son or daughter .

Wishing all the best to you and your channel 😁
I just want to know when criston cole will know the older son of rhaenyra is from him . That will be fucking turn over
Thanks for your reaction 👍
Aegon is like Joffery
Not even close. Joffrey was a literal spoiled sadist who wanted to be king just so he could abuse his power. Aegon on the other hand, is an irresponsible goofball who knows he's not suited to rule. Thus, he wants no part in being king. They are completely different in every single way.
If Rhaenys had killed them she would have been labelled a Kinslayer which is the greatest crime in Westeros. It was a bad ass power move and kind of calls back to Alicent telling Otto that refusing to murder is not weakness. Cannot wait for the Blacks finale!
You people are hilarious, bruv.

Ser criston cole: the Kingmaker! In this show he is bipolar weirdo. The fact that they actively do as much as they can to make the audience hate him is quite sad to me, as i was looking forward to seeing my favourite carachter portrayed on screen.
Cole is worse in the books though. He murders the guy in cold blood. He doesn't just accidentally kill him like in the show
GoT Spoilers!
I think the use of the piano in the opening scenes together with Helaena's prophecy foreshadowed pretty clearly what was gonna happen, and I'm still mad at myself for not putting it together!
7:07 Aemond literally says that when he turned 13 Aegon brought him there so he could loose his virginity, this is the woman she was with, that's why Aemond knows where he could be and tht's why she recognizes him.
How is it delusional to think her son is named as succesor? her sons name is aegon.
so a delusional old man is whispering the name of ur son but somehow ur mind wanders off to someone with a similar name from several hundred years ago?
how?
why would she know he is talking about some random guy from several hundred years ago. thats literally an impossibility. its only us, as viewers who know that they have a secret passed down. which is why we know. otherwise, we wouldnt know either.
theres nothing delusional about allicent correctly thinking he named her son as successor.

Hahah this episode is stressful
I think Rhaenys didn't kill them all because she wants them to learn a harsher lesson than just a quick death. She wants them to witness the war that's coming, and to know exactly what their treachery will do to the Realm. Besides, it's also quite satisfying to get right up in their faces with that dragon and show them "You just fucked with the wrong ones". I wonder how many on that stage actually pissed themselves. I'm sure it was at least a couple. :)
Rhaenys still holds out hope that things can be resolved without war. And she doesn't want to kinslay half her family. The Realm would hate her
