Great video. Thanks for all the information. Looks like something you would need 2 days to do.

      Glad you liked it!
2 days would be ideal, however when this was filmed we did it as a day trip. Start to finish was around 8-9 hours as there were a few trees to clear along the way..

The fires there changed it so much that I didn't know where I was when I rode from CC camp to Stonyford. Several riding areas in NCa. have been burned up badly. Thankful to have ripped 1000 miles there, at least, on my bike.

Damn! 1,000 miles up here on a bike makes you and expert wayfinder! The fires have definitely changed the landscape. It’s not the same place it was 10+ years ago, however it’s still one of the best places to get out and disconnect from the day to day grind.

We live on the other side of the forest/mountain and are enjoying your videos. Maybe we'll see you up there one of these days ☺️

Question… Are you up near Covelo, or up off of highway 36 somewhere? I have yet to explore that side of the forest. Any suggestions for other trails / roads up there that have great views? Thanks In advance!

@@MONTY4X4 We come up through Elk Creek or FH7 (Glenn County) and travel a lot along the M3 and M6. St John's Mountain has great views. So does Black Butte off of FH7. And Ocean View. The pass down into Mendocino County towards Covelo has nice views. If you like to hike there's a neat waterfall to hike into from the West Crockett TH along M3. Also the old Nye cabin to check out along M3. We plan to make a trip to Lake Pillsbury and Indian Valley Reservoir this summer. We pull a little square drop trailer with an old CJ5, but just recently got a Tacoma Off Road - I'm looking forward to some more comfortable trips 😂

@@marythomas7484 Thanks for the tips, I will add them to my list of places to explore! A few years back we ventured through pillsbury up to summit springs and we came out in elk creek. I don’t recall the exact route, however we followed the eel river for quite a few miles and there were great views with some fantastic camping spots. Having previously owned a YJ, I completely understand your comment about now riding in comfort. I hope you enjoy your new Tacoma!

Love your videos. Awesome channel. Wonder if you could put the coordinates in the description

Hello, thanks for the suggestion! I added the coordinates that were listed in the video into the description. I also added a few extra coordinates to hopefully make the trip easier. Let me know if you have any questions!

@@MONTY4X4 thanks man. I couldn’t find the no name pond with the coordinates, I was up there Memorial Day weekend. We tried to go to let’s lake but didn’t make it there was a huge wash out on the road M5. I didn’t know you could go the way you went. Looks like I need to head back

I just watched your part 1 video of the Mendocino national forest. Nice video! FYI, I’m not sure you would want to go up past “no name pond” in a full size vehicle, especially in a nice truck like yours. The trail gets super narrow with manzanita and it gave me some nice pin striping on the Tacoma.. I think this trail is really best suited for an ATV…

    • @sliceoflife8905
      @sliceoflife8905 ปีที่แล้ว

It’s ok. As long as it fits it ships. I don’t mind pin striping. This video didn’t show much of a tight trail. Plus looks like it’s the only way to Letts lake from the east side

@@sliceoflife8905 There is a tight section that was scratching both sides of my truck at the same time on 17N26. Maybe bring a hedge trimmer 😂 there is another way to access let’s lake from penny pines, on M10/Bear Creek, buts that’s a haul.

I like your channel, glade I found it! I finally went to IVR and loved it but haven’t been up there in a few weeks because of the storms. Do you know if the roads are clear from fallen trees?

      Thanks!!
I haven’t been up there since the snow storm last Friday. I haven’t ever seen snow this low, so I doubt it is passable right now. I drove past walker ridge x hwy 20 on 3/4/23 and there was a good amount of snow…

The burn is horrific. It will take a hundred life times to regrow that forest.

The burn took its toll for sure. 10 years ago this was a lush place to be. It is still nice, but in a different way…
