I picked up my second sovereign for around 240 pounds, so when I see the prices now, I just think how glad I am to have started stacking when I did.🤩🤩. I’m not in a position now to buy any more sovs outright, but I’m gradually liquidating my silver into gold🥳🤩. Thanks, as always J🙋🏻♂️
I think the half sovereign will become more popular than the full sovereign because the reality is - gold is becoming less affordable to the average person.
Popularity of half sovereigns became naturally higher because of the steep rise of gold price. That applies to bullion coins like Eagles, Krugers, etc. Who knows if the US Mint will decide to produce fractional coins of Buffalo.
I've been meaning to mention this for a while now. I, too, used to have a job, which made my hands ingrained with oil. The very best way of removing is with normal cooking oil and a heaped teaspoon of granulated sugar. Rub into your hands like you would use any industrial hand cleaner for a few minutes and wash off with dish washer detergent. It will change your life.
Here in the US safe deposit boxes are anything but safe. Banks are known to "lose" contents on a not infrequent basis, especially when precious metals and the like are involved. I don't know if this issue is as prevalent in the UK, but it is likely the reason for some commenters being skeptical of the security of safe deposit boxes over there.
I set myself a date run challenge of george v's from 1911 to 1928, aswell as the date run my challenge is to also include all 7 mints which makes it quite tricky, I have 5 coins left to get, but I've also started a date run of type 2 young heads 1871 to 1887 that should keep me busy for a few years!
Fantastic it's an exciting quest. Incase you haven't already seen it you might like this video "Revealing my 152 year hoard of gold sovereigns" I've still a few shields to go though before considering the pre Victorian sovs th-cam.com/video/sJluukYk8wo/w-d-xo.html
@@gohstkilla5160 Australia. Wasn't a usual sort of deal, the dealer just bought in a load and wanted to move them instantly and I guess Sovs normally hang around a bit because of tax and the usual premium. Anyway, these things don't come around everyday, I remember last year he did a spot deal with Napoleon 20 francs. Was very grateful to manage to get one of those.
great video! What’s your opinion on the different storage options ? Plastic caps / little paper envelopes / plastic sleeves? Mostly looking for scratch protection and long term storage safety from environmental factors that degrade gold.
I always get the safe deposit box haters too. I guess it comes the people’s hate of banks or something. I need to get some more gold. Glad to hear the sovereign is going to be yellow gold again.

Yes it's been quite a ride. I wonder how long until we see £1k per sovereign?

There's a risk in absolutely everything unfortunately yes
Very nice collection, congratulations! Keep on going.
Great video and stack , yes i think fractional is a good move in its affordability/tradeable for more people.
Here stateside, it's illegal to put gold in a safe deposit box. The bank will confiscate it on sight.
