"Sua was just like HERE I'AM" thats Sua in general but in serious note Sua vocal is so strong she just too multi talented that fans don't know where to categories her cause whatever people throw at her she just take it and OWN IT
handong's low register is usually kinda dark like that. If you listen to "silent night", she starts the song with a super dark tone in her low register, is super cool. I think it's her natural tone, where she feels kinda comfortable in, and it's so different from how she usually sings, i love it.
Yes she wrote the lyrics herself🥺 They‘re very beautiful and about her hardships. She always showed interest in writing lyrics so i‘m happy she finally has a full song :D I don‘t know if you check out b-sides on your own but she uses her lower register more often in them for example in „Silent night“
UGH, finally a performance where Sua's vocals shined! this is amazing... i do hope Jiu can be more confidence because she sounds really really great. thank you!
handong's song is pretty much what the majority of cpop sounds like and that sound hasn't changed in decades. sure there are a few artists doing more edgy stuff that aligns more with kpop but the vast majority of chinese taste prefer soft ballad type pop songs. also chinese is a tonal language so it can sound strange if you are not accustomed to it. that also makes it extremely hard for foreigners to sing correctly.
I loved Dongie's solo song. It took a few listens, but it grew on me. The lyrics she wrote for it suit her so well. And yeah, the sound quality was probably TH-cam's doing. It sounded better on one of the Chinese streaming links I clicked on last night. Also, SuA killed "I Love You." I hope they let her flex like that a bit more on the next album. She really is super underrated as a vocalist.
Since I enjoy studying languages I'm used to music from all over the world, so I just fell in love with Dongie's solo right away, but I totally get it how it can be a bit jarring at first. Handong's lower register is golden, and the lyrics, oh man, the lyrics 😭😭. About SuSiJi's cover, yes, it's very goosebumps inducing hahaha. They like to play around with harmonizations when singing together on VLives and I always wanted to hear them doing it more seriously and with some good audio. It was everything I expected and more 😍
SuA's always been my favourite vocalist in the group, even tho Siyeon is my bias. I'm glad that she started showing it off this year with performances like this one and with her "R.o.S.E. Blue" parts. She was spectacular in the TTOL album as well.
actually the original song does the sliding and that's one the memorable points of the song... the original is a rock ballad, so that the vocal is a little bit stronger which actually makes it a little bit easier to sing compared to what DC is doing here. yes, JiU may be the weaker of the three but i love her voice palette and her harmonies were great! i hate it when backing harmonies come in too strong and too fancy, loved the subtle DC harmonies here...
They were all great! Thanks for letting me known. I have never heard the original. Sliding can be a style choice as well which I said. All of these girls are very talented. And I love them so much. ❤️
I actually thought the same thing when Sir Austin said that about the sliding being a stylistic choice, so I'm glad you mentioned it! The original is also an amazing song!!!!
@@SirAustin th-cam.com/video/yAuJuHI00g8/w-d-xo.html Boca zombie version .. dreamcacther hired the kingdom make up artist team ( Netflix zombie series ) to do a zombie make up 👍 .
I don't think JiU is weaker of them, in fact JiU's voice suits this song the most compared to the other two. Sua's voice is too masculine (?) and big for this.
I personally think that JiU was the star of that performance. Her voice was delicate, great mic technique to accommodate her vocal, perfect harmony and her voice is just a lot brighter than SuA and Siyeon’s vocals, which lightens up the song and gives it more emotions. If you watch it again, you’d notice how JiU really sings and feels the lyrics at the same time (her facial expressions).
Anyone who pays this much attention to Dreamcatcher to the point of listening to a Chinese release by Handong is a friend of mine. I hit the sub button.
I'm so glad Handong got the chance to release a solo! Bless her Chinese company for taking such good care of her. Also Sua getting to show off her vocals more is everything. I really hope that trend continues
I really thought I'm about to cry when I first heard it T_T Handong's voice is very soothing and comforting, it's so pleasing and calming to listen to her. I'm extremely happy she's back and we can enjoy her music now!
Funny thing: I was literally just writing my comment to request you to react to I love you :D as soon as I finished writing it, you just uploaded this.
I'm so proud of Handong, and having her back after a year is just so good, I can't wait for their next comeback with all 7 members!! And that unnie line cover made me cry the first time I listened to it, I just love their voices so much, of course, I'm no professional, but they just transmit their emotions so well! Also, I commented on your Dingga reaction that you should react to ATEEZ, and now that I see this I remembered that Dreamcatcher are big fans of them, they went to their concert early this year and also Siyeon sang some of their songs on vlive!! As I said, Inception and Thanxx are their last MV, but you would love their MAMA 2019 and Immortal Songs 2 performances!
Chinese songs are very different. It sounds a but weird at first because of how unique it is but once you get used to it it can be quite interesting. If you ever want to react to some Chinese songs: Namanana from Lay, Ugly beauty from Jolin Tsai. And there is an OST from the 2 Chinese members of Seventeen that I really love : 7 days OST The8 Jun "Brothers for one time"
It's not about the language. I wasn't talking about that. I was talking about the instrumentals mostly and the vocals. The way the songs are produced are very different and that's not a bad thing. But if you listen to literally any songs that are from a different country when you've never heard any before, you'll probably end up thinking it weird
Some songs are about the melody, some are about the beat, some songs are about the lyrics and I have to say that First light of Dawn is very about the lyrics - self-writtern by Handong, it really shows her hardships, her mentality and feelings over the past few years as a member of kpop group in foreign country and then a trainee in her home country over the past year, finishing it all off with affirming the listener. This is a very precious song.
handong get more lines and her voice suit on ballad song more, so you can hear their b-sides. You will hear her voice more. Btw your reaction came out so fast🤔😝
I'm so happy you reacted to both of these songs! 🙏 As usual thanks for this and the analysis! I'm used to Chinese songs so I was happy and proud of Handong's song. And the song covered by the unnie line was so beautiful and mesmerizing... 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 It was such a great day as an InSomnia!!
Handong's solo has so many pop elements XD Toy piano, videogame sounds, snap/silence breaks, and I think acoustic country guitar is fairly common in other Chinese pop songs. I'm just glad Dongie sounds good and came back to us with her first solo :D I just knew you would react to the unnie line's I Love You performance ^_^ I got chills. I think you do a great job of describing your critiques while also praising them appropriately. Almost like it's what you do for a living ;) Thanks for the video :D
Oh, I didn't know either song yet! I'm such a bad fan 😮... Loved it and yeah SuA is being so unfair hoarding all that talent, a main dancer should be such a good vocalist too, right? All three were nice and especially liked the harmonies.
I am not familiar with Chinese music either, but Handong’s first solo sounded good. I love her low register/tone. Probably part of why I love Silent Night and other songs that have her go low. Handong does have a few special clip solo covers and her Winter special clip just dropped. I love her lower tone/register. As for I Love You, it’s one of my fav covers. I love how their harmonies sound. They sound so well together. I love how it shows off SuA’s voice and JiU’s. Then you have Siyeon who is always a chefs kiss with vocals. I always get goosebumps when I hear their cover and it hits me in the soul. Just another DC cover I wish was on ITunes so I could listen to it in the car.
Handong did a vlive where Siyeon came in abit into it and then Yoohyeon a little bit at the end, anyways. In that vlive Siyeon looked the happiest I have ever seen her. She was just radiating with happiness. My face was smiling althrough it, even though I couldn't understand shit. :)
First time when I was impressed with Handong's vocal was in that Ambush on all sides team A performance. If she'd sound like that in DC songs that would be great!!! Sorry about my English, hope u can understand what I meant)
For the record, it's also not actually _Handong's_ TH-cam channel, it's a fan who, by the look of it, streamed the song, and made a recording to upload to TH-cam. Officially it's only available on Chinese streaming platforms, so it's not likely to wind up on iTunes, Spotify or TH-cam. I've just had the thought; depending on who she wrote it with and what kind of agreement she has with them... if there's a chance she might record a Korean version, if not for an album, then even just as a Special Clip... 😉 Up until now, Dami, Siyeon, JiU and Yoohyeon have writing credits on DC and solo songs. Dami is sole lyricist for Scar, and wrote several of her raps on other tracks (You and I and What, I'm pretty certain of; I can't recall which others offhand). Siyeon wrote the lyrics for, and I _think_ I recall co-composed Paradise. JiU wrote the lyrics for and co-composed Dear. The three of them co-wrote the lyrics for Black or White, and Yoohyeon joined them to do the same for Jazz Bar. I have no words for the unnie line performance. The vocals are haunting and beautiful, and in those smart, simple outfits, they're just stunning. I nearly welled up looking at Siyeon before a note was uttered... 😍🥰 It's a performance you want to just close your eyes and _feel_ everything...
Chinese pop music is veeeeery different from Kpop, I really wasn't surprised at all with the style of the song. The lyrics are very positive and light and they really express the way Handong feels and how much she's grown. And about the I love you video, I really feel that JiU had the weakest vocals for that song, but she still sounded heavenly. There is just nothing like Suayeon saying I love you to each other
Thx for the react!! Loved both songs!!! Btw, a quick multilingual fun fact! Did you know that the more confident a person is at a language the deeper their speaking voice is! Is super noticeable specially when a person speaks 3 or more languages, you can literally rank their confidence in each one (*important* I’m talking about confidence, not ability nor mastery of the language, just how confident they feel while speaking it) just by listening to how deep or high their voice gets while speaking in each language. Just saying this bc that’s prob why you noticed that you feel like Handong’s voiced may have matured, is prob a difference in speaking in Chinese or Korean xD. ;)
sua has always been one of my favorite vocalists in dc, i think she's often overlooked because a lot of people know her more for her dancing (rightfully so, girl is TALENTED) i'm glad to see more and more people discovering her vocal talents as well!!
I would love to see you react to Goodnight Song & Yes Ok by Ella's Team on Youth With You. That is the show Handong was on (Lisa from BLACKPINK was also a instructor on the show). It's a beautiful song and it would be awesome to have you break down the singing since Ella and her group's focus was singing.
There is this Chinese singer that I know that goes to same school as yours -Berkeley, you can check her voice her name is Curley Gao. Please check "I like you" and "Someone you love". I find her amazing.
Awesome! We are so proud of Handong! She wrote the lyrics so I think you should check out the English translations as well. SuA has a really amazing voice as you mentioned. Thanks for reacting to Dreamcatcher as always.
Dreamcather just Released a New BOCA (Dance) Version MV on 10-21-2020: BOCA K-Zombie Version!!!😨😱 You should check it out Austin, it's well worth the watch! Unfortunately Handong isn't in the MV, as it seems to have been filmed just prior to her rejoining the other members.
Hi Moomoos and everyone! please check out Purple Kiss! check out their AMAZING debuts trailers! We love legends supporting legends! please check them out! also, check out their guide to understanding more about their personalities. Sir Austin, can you please also reacts to their debut trailers? also, how they perform are completely different to their real self (LOL) they are another CRACKHEADS from RBW (lmao) Their predebut name is 356 practice
I would guess her voice sounds a bit different because it’s a different language. She is more comfortable singing in Chinese and probably more willing to explore more ranges. That’s just a complete guess though.
@@SirAustin The tonal nature of the language does make Mandarin songs more difficult to appreciate initially - they have to go out of pitch on some words to be understood, but you get used to that. More of an issue is that the song stylings, arrangements and orchestrations tend to lag twenty to fifty years in most Chinese pop, and I think that's an issue with this single as well.
HEY!! I think a really good group for you to react to is Fromis_9. IMO Fromis_9 has some of the best vocals in the 4th gen. Their main vocal (Jiwon) was a former JYP trainee and was in consideration to be in Twice. Their main rapper (Seoyeon) is a former long time YG trainee and she was a part of the “Future 2NE1” project as the main vocal. They were formed on a MNET survival show called “Idol School” which is similar to the Produce 101 shows, but they girls were not allowed to be under a company while competing because the final group would be a permanent group. The songs that I would recommend are To Heart (their debut song), Love Bomb (their big hit) and Fun (their summer song) these are the 3 I recommend for right now, but they have many others that I hope you would check out! Thanks!
If you want to get into Chinese songs, I'd say start with G.E.M (邓紫棋). She's an extremely good vocalist and she writes and composes (almost?) all of her songs. But I agree with one other comment saying this song by Handong sounds just like any other typical cihinese song especially from Mainland - not necessarily bad but nothing to write home about, honestly. I absolutely love Dreamcatcher and each and every member. I think you'll love G.E.M.'s stuff (which stands for Get Everybody Moving just FYI). She's everything but a follower.
I love the song by Handong. I also love the sound of it and the sound of her vocals. How can you state it sounds Chinese and then state your not familiar with Chinese music. The statement does not make sense.
In my opinion, Jiu's lower register is under-utilized , and sounds a lot more comfortable. If you've watched some of their older covers from Minx days, she seemed a lot more confident ... but maybe that's all it amounts to as well. I'm not sure if you've seen this before in its entirety - but it would be nice to hear your opinion on it! th-cam.com/video/enQdwYo139c/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=ArirangRadioK-Pop
Maybe I have a wild imagination but when the second stanza of Handong's song kicked in, I was expecting her to rap LOL. But I still enjoyed it nonetheless. Sua also mentioned once before I think, despite being the one with the highest vocal range in the group, and being able to rap...she willingly gave the main rapper position to Dami and the main vocal position to Siyeon because she wanted them to shine respectively. So she ended up taking the Main Dancer - which still worked out pretty well :)
I don't think Sua is underrated, she has many vocal parts, but also raps. I just believe that each girl simply gives to the group what they give us. Each one is so different but so talented. That is the Wow factor of Dreamcatcher and the why I consider them the best K-pop group today.
Well she has one rap and that’s only in goodnight djbfjd but as a vocalist, she’s not really praised enough by fans tbh. Fans focus more on her dancing than her actual vocal ability
If you hear her singing in chinese or english, you will notice the difference. Chinese pronunciation is diferent the sound comes from different parts of mouth/throat, etc, I dont know how to explain. I believe thats the reasom chinese songs are very popular outside China, just as japanese, russian, germn, etc. English and corean for me are better to listen
I think Dongie's solo would make a great drive song. Just has that feel you know? Sua really is underappreciated as a vocalist.. To me she has the range, control and power in her voice to challenge any song.
Sua in general is super multi-talented artist in general she have personality for great show business, she is legit A+ actor, her voice weather singing or talking in general is really powerful, she have a rythm that she can quickly learn dance move and nails it and I also heard that she is quite good in drawing and painting so in general Sua is underappreciated in everything lol
Sir Austin please react to GFRIEND again 1.Sunrise-live stage 2.Time For The Moon Night-live stage 3.Rough-live stage on the skecth book 4.Apple-live Sbs radio 5.Windy Windy-live concert Gfriend is the 3rd generation girl group who has the best vocals with Mamamo and Red Velvet so I ask for Gfriend's reaction because of their very good vocal abilities and must be thumbs up I ask Sir Austin to react Gfriend I will wait for that thanks in advance Sir Austin bye .....
It annoys me when people compare Handong's sound to Jiu... They're not AT ALL similar. Handong has a raspy/sexy/mature voice. I don't think I can compare her voice to anyone. I actually think Handong is much better than Sua. The vocal abilities for me goes like: 1. Siyeon (duh) 2. Yoohyeon (duh again) 3. Jiu 4. Handong 5. Sua/Gahyeon 6. Dami
“Sua could’ve been a little bit louder.” That’s not a sentence I ever thought I’d hear.

People also unconsciously change voices when speaking in different languages so that could also be a factor.
That's 100% true. Chinese has the 'tone system' that Korean does not have. So that could be a factor too.
UGH, finally a performance where Sua's vocals shined! this is amazing... i do hope Jiu can be more confidence because she sounds really really great.

Is super noticeable specially when a person speaks 3 or more languages, you can literally rank their confidence in each one (*important* I’m talking about confidence, not ability nor mastery of the language, just how confident they feel while speaking it) just by listening to how deep or high their voice gets while speaking in each language. Just saying this bc that’s prob why you noticed that you feel like Handong’s voiced may have matured, is prob a difference in speaking in Chinese or Korean xD. ;)
Dreamcatcher😻
Finally Dreamcatcher
It's okay by BtoB is good too I hope he reacts to it
sua has always been one of my favorite vocalists in dc, i think she's often overlooked because a lot of people know her more for her dancing (rightfully so, girl is TALENTED) i'm glad to see more and more people discovering her vocal talents as well!!
How about J-Pop ? That's Hard too and many different style
Handong's song actually reminds me a lot of Watanabe Miyuki's solo works, mostly Yuugure Sentimental 😊
Uncommon for K-POP , but familiar in J-POP
9:22 big fat YEP
Dreamcather just Released a New BOCA (Dance) Version MV on 10-21-2020:
BOCA K-Zombie Version!!!😨😱 You should check it out Austin, it's well worth the watch! Unfortunately Handong isn't in the MV, as it seems to have been filmed just prior to her rejoining the other members.
you wanna hear more harmony annd blending from them, try vocal practice 2.
Hi Moomoos and everyone! please check out Purple Kiss! check out their AMAZING debuts trailers!
We love legends supporting legends!
please check them out! also, check out their guide to understanding more about their personalities.
Sir Austin, can you please also reacts to their debut trailers?
also, how they perform are completely different to their real self (LOL)
they are another CRACKHEADS from RBW (lmao)
Their predebut name is 356 practice
I would guess her voice sounds a bit different because it’s a different language. She is more comfortable singing in Chinese and probably more willing to explore more ranges. That’s just a complete guess though.
Good point! Plus the whole tone system that the Chinese language has. I'm not super familiar with Chinese singing.
I wouldn't call SuA underrated, I'd say she's more underutilized as a vocalist.
its ok i can relate i can vibe with Korean and Japansese only too 😅 also she said she might make a korean version tho!!
That Verse is a direct copy of a Western Pop song. Can't place it yet but similar also to 2NE1 'Loney'.

Thanks!
We would also love if you worked with dreamcatcher 🙏🏻
Please react Siyeon “Overdose” cover
Please react to kard I think you'd really like them
In my opinion, Jiu's lower register is under-utilized , and sounds a lot more comfortable.
Her voice always sounds like that.. I think 🤔
She *is* underrated as a vocalist (or atleast she was back then)
Out of topic.
Please react to Big Bang's 2015 MAMA Live Performance, you'll see the Kings of KPop
< 3
Queen Sua can dance and got vocal too.
Please react on Refund Sisters “Dont touch MV teaser”
you should react to 'why not' by loona

React to twice
React to girls generation the boys
Hyuna change please
You should react to their performances on Mixnine, Yoohyeon’s group performance is really touching and you can see that she was very nervous
She sings a 2ne1 song
Everyone want to work under Dreamcatcher Company trust me. Including me. I don't need money. They can pay me with their smile afterwards. 😆😆😆
Sounds like a Chinese drama OST. It's beautiful, especially the instrumental and the chorus, but it's not exactly my cup of tea tbh
Dami
