Unbelievably awesome tutorial. The slow pace of your verbal instructions combined with outstanding closeups of the various menus produce an amazingly helpful, easy to understand tutorial. You are a master teacher. Thanks so much! (BTW new subscriber)
Thank you. I am also using the MixPre3 II for ripping vinyl records, and some restauration programs don’t accept files with more than two tracks. Your explanation solved my problem. I record in 192/32 to have as much headroom as possible to work with. Now it just works 😊
Hey, man, can you set the aux timecode back to a normal 3.5mm mic input after jamming the timecode box and still using it as a normal 3.5mm mic input? For example plug in a rode wireless/DJI mic receiver?
Hi, had a question! I set for 3mics, 2 lavs, 1 senn416. I use 2 lavs for two scenes, senn 416 for two scenes. When I turn the three channels on, I can hear three of them. But when I use the lavs, I turned on channels 1,2, and mute 3. And when I record with senn 416, I mute 1,2 and turn on 3. But when I transfer files and playback them, I can not hear all the sounds that I record with senn 416. The wired thing was when I playback I can hear it but no signal. Lastly when I set for 1 mic and use Sennheiser 416, I can hear it. Can I ask you why is this happening? If I want to use seen 416 only, should I change the channel all the time?
@@dickwyn Thanks! I will try for it. And I want to listen to two wireless mics to be centered, is it possible to set it like that? On the handbook, it says I can hear 1 for left, 2 for right. +also, the output files are combined, in this case, how can I separate them into two channels?
Very detailed and easy to understand explanation. Why is there 3 Tracks(L,R and Ch1) when I record a boom on Ch1? What is the meaning of L, R additionally with Ch1? My setup is just one MKH416 connected to CH1 on MixPre3 and I am trying to record talking head.. Is there any additional benefit in quality of audio output or editing workflow if I use all 3 (L,R and Ch1) in final Video? Is it OK to record on Ch1 without the L and R? Should I just get rid of L and R? Is L and R really required for single Mic setup? What is the purpose of L and R?
L,R is just for the stereo. for a talking head shot it just usually use ch1 and in my video editing software i set the audio track to mono so the audio goes to the left and right channel of the speaker

I love that you showed the timecode bit - I came here looking for that. Somebody told me all mixpre ii have TC and I could not believe it :)
Great tutorial! I just recently got the NoiseAssist plug-in and it works beautifully with these settings as well. Thank you!
I’m considering the NoiseAssist, What’s your experience with it? My room is untreated so I hope the plug-in is worth it!
I can’t get the mix pre going to my camera have connected via stereo out on mix pre with 3.5 into camera and set continuous tone but nothing on camera

Thank you sooo much for this 🎉
Thanks! I was a little confused about the record settings but this cleared it up.
As a newbie to the MixPre… Thank you for this video!!
The tip on shutting off the L&R was huge! I didn’t know you could turn that off. Like u I didn’t need those tracks… Thanks!😊
2:11 to jam TC from my Sync E to the MixPre 3 ii
This video was extremely helpful. Thank you!
How do you adjust the recording level of AUX channels 1 and 2? Thanks!
