The Vervet Forest is a wildlife rehab series focused on Vervet Monkeys at the Vervet Monkey Foundation . The series showcases the process of taking orphaned and injured vervet monkeys through a foster mother program which helps these rescued orphan baby monkeys to be adopted by foster mother monkeys. The show is for fans of animal planet, nat geo, discovery and anyone who is an animal lover, loves animals and would like to be part of helping them get back to the wild.

Wow, a lot is going on! I hope Gimley? starts to feel more comfortable. It is so amazing to watch a person who volunteers take a baby a give it so much care an comfort! It’s amazing, I’m sorry I just really love watching it come together. Poor little Luna looked very unsure out there with all of those other females taking her away from new Mom, for a second I really thought she was going to run back to the enclosure where she was safe. I could be wrong but it looked like she might have felt Mom couldn’t protect her from the others, being out of her safety zone for the first time, then mobbed by all the females grabbing her. I don’t think she feels she can trust mom like she thought. I’m worried about her. Thank u! Grrreat video as always! (Still want to marry Kyle). just sayin 😊 lol 😝
It's great to see that they still forage even though they are fed regularly. My question is, did ALL of the monkeys come in as fosters when you first started the foundation?

Do the foster mums adopt a baby because all your troops do not breed, and if so, then this is the closest they come to having a child of their own, right?
No some if not most have had a child of there own, they just love babies of a certain age

So happy to see Luna bonded so well with Mom and seeing Mom so proud To show off her new baby to the troop was so very sweet, you are right you could see the way she was strutting she was so proud of her new little bundle of love!
I felt so bad for the new little guy, he was so scared and traumatized. It makes you wonder what horrible thing happened to separate him from his Mom & troop. Luckily he was rescued, no doubt he will open up once he can play with the other orphans and bring out his personality. I can’t wait to see him with his new mom.

Given where he was found I was wondering if someone abandoned him there 'returning him to the wild where he'll surely know how to survive'. People are just that clueless, sometimes. My heart broke when I saw him hiding in a little ball.
Monkeys tolerance for pain never ceases to amaze me. What a wonder these precious souls are. I adore them all. I adore you all too! Thank you all for helping these monkeys not only live, but thrive💛💛

I think its only a matter of time before Emblem or whatever her name is loses this baby to another member. I can totally visualize kidnapping here. And yep already near end of video haha, please let me know how long Emblem has this baby for I don't see it being too long.
Emblem is quite low ranked in the troop so she's a little bit more submissive careful when Briyanni is around, but in the first few days there's always a lot of attention from the other females as they're all so excited. Luna is very well bonded to Emblem though and she always runs back to her. Allomothering is common in vervets so it's not unusual for other females to take the baby for a short while to give mum a break.

Just suggestion, maybe try keep the dialogue going if possible, some parts kind of dragged but you guys are doing awesome. Thanks for keeping the channel going. Maybe talk about the size of the troop, some history on the troop, I think I remember James troop is quite small only like 10-12 monkeys?

It is strange and captivating that the babies dont attempt to suckle? Why do they not attempt? I know the foster mom's dont have milk to give do they instinctively know this? And how you have accomplished the foster system!! The other monkey's i have watched dont seem to try and adopt or foster orphaned babies!! The Vervet monkey are extraordinary in this aspect in my opinion!! Great video and great work that you do at the Vervet Forest!!

where are the males? dothey eat on their own? what is the instinct that drives the females to adopt strange infants? do they, the staff, also intergrate adult monkes into the troops as well? i'd love to see that whole process.

HEY, HEY’! I need some extra eyes on this around 20:26. Briana was grooming or did I observe her FORCING the babies mouth open which made me have bad flashbacks from a monkey many of us know and dispise at MONKEY HILL! Is that what happened! If so, no wonder the baby ran from her like she was the covid19 virus!!’
