There is a funny story about this particular rendition: THIS WAS NOT THE SONG SHE WAS GONNA SING FOR THIS EPISODE. But the original performance was scrapped (what I heard was because her arrangement was too peculiar and the band was unfamiliar with the original song as well). So with the rendition underpracticed and only about a day left before the taping, they scrapped it all and KZ decided to call her friend for help, asking him to fly over from PH to be her accompanying guitarist. He immediately booked for a flight and arrived overnight. That is why you don't hear the band, only the percussions--because this performance was hardly practiced and KZ even thought she'd be eliminated in this episode. The guy who played the guitar--he is a very good friend of hers and also a fellow artist she would often jam with in gigs. That's why the guy played it so well and they're very much in-sync. They even repond to each others' verbal cues because this rendition is very very familiar to them (they play it in gigs).

One of KZ's fellow contestants in Singer 2018, Chinese singer (and musical genius!) Hua Chenyu, said that this was the best performance. One of the guys asked him, "...of the night?" He replied, "No, of the entire show."
I couldn't say anything...KZ is super amazing and the guitarist too. (What's amazing is that she just made the new arrangement in one day. Imagine that! Those musical directors there in that contest just advised her to change her song. She immediately flew her Filipino guitarist Nonoy Portado to China. She is a real trouper, a voila! Another KZ ingenuity!!!

In the Philippines, as you probably know by now, there are many really good singers. But KZ Tandingan is one singer on a different level all her own. As you mentioned previously, she is a real artist. When she sings one song, she becomes that song. It feels like the rest of the world disappears and there's only her and that song.
Waleska saying she almost burst into tears - while actually Efra's whole body and heart worked so hard to not burst into tears in front of the camera. He almost couldn't handle all his emotions. Love him - and Waleska for their always so raw and honest reactions! 🙌
She also sang this chinese song "the hurts you never knew" and i cried....and a filipino song ANAK. You should check that out. That's when you can say she's a great story teller through singing, you cant understand the song since it's not your language but it gets to you... Dude, she's known throughout the country and worldwide. She was hired by Disney for a promotional song last year and have international recognition. KZ is not underrated by any stretch of imagination. If you think she's not getting what she deserves then it's either her marketing team's fault or her decision. Singers are also human and want to live their lives.
I think what makes KZ such an amazing artist is that she has the musicality, originality, and the ability to perform that vision - but also intensity, personality, and this sincerity in wanting to reach people. She may not be the most popular artist in the world, but she is one of a kind. And everyone who has the HONOUR of watching her perform is moved, inspired, challenged, changed.
KZ arranges all her own songs this cover was sprung on her 24 hrs before the show went live i think it was because she was doing so well if you look at her she has normal clothes in this as KZ is always far out with her clothes even her hair so she was not amused infact the lad on the guitar is one of KZ friends Makoy she got to play and learn this all in 24 hrs at least that is what i read on a Filipino fan site a while back.

What i know is the producer changed the song for her. And it's too late for the band to put all together all the arrangements and to practice it. So KZ had to ask help and had our filipino guitarist flew the same day of the performance.

I watched that episode 😭 Salute!! 😊 The only thing I didn't like with some of us was the refusal to acknowledge that this kind of stuff on the show didn't happen to only KZ.. Even Wang Feng had had an episode where he also had to change his song.. You really had to watch the whole episodes to understand what's going on during that time 💁🏻 But I really admire KZ for doing well despite the language & culture barriers because those were just too big of an obstacle to overcome & nobody can deny that she finished well on that show despite everything 😊

She was supposed to perform a Beatles or Fugees song but they changed it so she can't practice with the big band so she asked her friend Makoy to play guitar for her in that last minute
Yeah, what I heard was that they decided that because there was a holiday the next week, the show would record 2 episodes that week and everyone just had 2 days to prepare for the extra show. There wasn't enough time for all the competitors to get sufficient rehearsal time, so that's why KZ had her guitarist Makoy fly in from Manila. She has this power to make you understand a song, the music. We hear a song and we can be “oh ok this is what the song means”, but then KZ sings it and then you’ll be like “OHHHH SO THIS IS WHAT THE SONG MEANS”. She’s amazing. Makoy Portado accompanied her in her solo performances, at her Music Museum concert she was accompanies by not 1 but 2 acoustic guitars and a bass. In my opinion this particular performance is the best compared to all other previous performances even the duets.

It's a competition, there's a massive stage with lighting, there's an orchestra not to mention there are musicians that helped the competitors arrange / rearrange their songs to be their best.

We hear a song and we can be “oh ok this is what the song means”, but then KZ sings it and then you’ll be like “OHHHH SO THIS IS WHAT THE SONG MEANS”. She’s amazing. I believe she’s the most creative and the best vocalist Philippines have right now. She’s an amazing songwriter (also her other half in life, TJ Monterde) and she arranges ALL her covers and make it her own. She’s just really amazing

Not exactly a last minute arrangement. She has covered this song numerous times in the past. A couple of times as a duet in 2014 w/ Sam Concepcion and Markki Stroemm and as a solo in 2014 and at her concert in Music Museum in 2015. Makoy Portado accompanied her in her solo performances, at her Music Museum concert she was accompanies by not 1 but 2 acoustic guitars and a bass. In my opinion this particular performance is the best compared to all other previous performances even the duets.

@@acebrek7394 Of course KZ has to change the arrangement to suit the show. It wouldn't do for her to perform like she was on a bus! It's a competition, there's a massive stage with lighting, there's an orchestra not to mention there are musicians that helped the competitors arrange / rearrange their songs to be their best.
