2025 02 06 BOX CANYON AT HASSEYAMPA RIVER

Today our club ventured up the Hassayampa River to take a peek at the famous Box Canyon. The Hassayampa River was hardly running due to the lack of rain. The Box Canyon is truly a dead-end canyon that you would not want to be in during a rain storm. The entire Hassayampa River becomes deadly during summer rain storms.
From the canyon we worked our way up across the desert to a small community know as Stanton, AZ. Stanton is known to be an active gold mining community. Stanton is a fun place to visit with plenty of old building to visit.
After a nice stay we loaded up and headed over the hill to Yarnell, AZ and had lunch at the Gilligan’s Pizza and Bar. They took on our crowd and served us with good food and fast services. We will go back, for sure.
We all had a great time today which proves you don’t always have to have rock challenging trails to have fun. Box Canyon at Hassayampa River is an easy trail with great scenery.
