Thanks for Kalinnikov !! His two symphonies are perfect. Weinberg deserves more recognition too.
Several people have already asked me to add Kalinnikov, But no one asked Weinberg))
Always good to have Bruckner. Especially in any list that also includes Mahler 8
Keep posting this kind of game ! It is very fun.
7 Symphonies guessed correctly and 12 composers guessed correctly.
No.1, 13 and 14 I missed completely.
Beautiful pieces, excellent choices! For me it is too hard to pick the correct numbers, although I do recognize most of the composers (except Hovhaness, Weinberg and M. Haydn) I had only 4 numbers correct.
My heart bounced when I heard Kalinnikov, that Symphony is so beautiful.
7:33 How to Train your Dragon's theme definitely was inspired by this!
Intro and outro symphony is Schuberts 5th
Kept waiting for. Shubert to show up. or maybe Brhams or Mr Copland. You put out. a tough one. got the right composer but the wrong number. a few times, only identified a handful by number. . Keep them coming.
Это было сложно, но следующую часть однозначно хочется! Во многих случаях уже скорее просто композитора по стилю угадываешь, а это всегда интересно.
Only got eight, I'm dis appointed with myself 😀
6/15, although I really should have got Sibelius. Thanks, this one was actually hard!
I got only three symphonies but I expected Mozart and Bruckner.
Nice ot have the Kallinikov 1 and THAT theme.
7/15
that was so much fun
That's better - nice and challenging!
Great quizz again. Keep them coming!
I think the problem is you try to have in each symphony challenge symphoniesi numberred 1 to 15. Most known symphonies are 1 to 9, only Shosta has famous ones between 10 and 15 so it feels a bit forced to have lesser known symphonies thrown in there to make it work. More fun would be a, b, c, d kinda list. The you can have stuff like Mozart 40, or Franck symhony, which otherwise wouldn't get on such lists, or multiple same number symphonies. Otherwise very fun!!!
Thanks for the advice.. I perfectly understand the bottlenecks of this test and for now I do not plan to continue the series "Guess the Symphony". I have different ideas for videos, including non-musical themes))
@@adiosmusictest I actually like "guess the symphony" :D but go ahead and do what you think it suits everyone best! I used one of your easier videos in a class to entertain the pupils with testing pieces, so your work is already giving results :D
9 for me - good quiz. Embarrassingly missed Beethoven and Rachmaninov!
I got three and three halves (where I got either the composer or the number correct). These are difficult because we don't have the composer names as we do in your other quizzes. Most listeners probably don't remember symphonies by their number but by the composer, which makes this hard. But hey, it's your channel and your quiz, so do what you want!
Correctly guessed Mozart, Haydn and Shostakovich by style but guessed the wrong symphony number. Totally missed Hohvaness and Weinberg (not my favorite composers anyway - sorry!).
I had composer and number for only 4/15 (Schumann, Mendelssohn, Beethoven and Kalinnikov); very tough test !
Only 3 correct answers. Plus 5 other correct composers. Can't believe I didn't recognise that part of Beethoven 9 :(
I didn’t want to tritely stage an obvious well-known passage from Beethoven, but this one created at least some difficulties))
I made the 3 symphony tests, but I dislike the choice of composers, the ratio of German and Slavic composers is far to high. Where are the English, American, French composers? Not having chosen one of the 9 symphonies by Vaughan Williams is beyond belief.
Thanks for your feedback. I will not deny that there are some shifts in this direction. But I will continue to do tests and will definitely use new authors!
I just got barely more than negative one (-1) correct. I got a few more imaginary numbers (square root of -1) correct, but I think I might be imagining that. GOOD QUIZ !
Which version did you use for Beethoven's 9th? I really liked this one, curious to know who conducted...
Jordi Savall - Conductor. Link to this version: th-cam.com/video/FwDo7MdaxhA/w-d-xo.html
@@adiosmusictest Thank you so much! Will have a great time listening :)
I got 11 right out of 15 (to be honest in the 7th question I only got the composer, but not the number of his symphony). So am I an expert?
I was wrong in questions 9, 13, 14 and 15. It is weird that I didn't answer correctly to question 14🤔 Actually I know this symphony quite well (but to me the excerpt is not the most typical part of this symphony).
In fact, the difficulty level of this test will become clear when I see the statistics and reviews from at least 10-15 users. But in any case, you are as close as possible to the title of Expert))
It is quite easy to identify composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn, Schumann or Shostakovich, as they all have their own style which is so distinct for them. You don't even have to know the work to identify it as theirs.
@@Nikioko Yes, you are right. I got all the numbers correct except for one question (the 7th).
1. Mozart ?
2. Shostakovich 11
3. ?
4. Schumann ?
5. Mahler 8
6. Beethoven 9
7. ?
8. Mendelssohn 4
9. ?
10. Haydn ?
11. Dvorak 5
12. Bruckner ?
13. ?
14. Rachmaninoff 2
15. ?
Very good, you even got question 14 ! For Mozart and Haydn I had to guess the numbers and I was (very) lucky 😁
Thanks to that quiz I am "rediscovering" Kalinnikov's First Symphony which I hadn't listened to for at least 20 years and, of course, didn't recognize. It has this soaring 2nd theme in the first movement, so beautiful!
I had never heard of Weinberg's symphonies, so I shall put them into my "listen-repertoire" as well.
@@BernhardElsner I got no. 14 because I know that symphony. I also know all Shostakovich symphonies, so that's an easy game. Same with Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Dvorak, Brahms, and Mahler.
I don't know all Haydn and Mozart symphonies, but I certainly recognize that it's one of theirs. So I have to pass with the number, but not with the composer. Bruckner and Schumann are also very distinct.
