You put all that time and money into it and it’s a total kick to the jewels when something like this happens. But at least you are being honest about what happened when you could have easily just blamed it on the wrong timing curve.
Haha... Yup... that's your chair. I decided to take advantage of the situation and try to shoot some intro and outro footage to have people scratching their heads. When people tell you that you're awesome or great at something, it's a good idea to make sure and point out that you're only human and make mistakes... Not just for the sake of other people, but also for yourself... Without sounding all philosophical, why would you work on making yourself better if you think you're perfect, lol. In the moment, it really sucked, and it's embarrassing, but it's also an opportunity to make things better.
Haha... Yeah... I totally called it. I don't know if I put it in the video, but I remember saying "if it goes too easy you know you did something wrong?
Not going to lie, as the two stroke whisperer, I'm surprised you didn't diagnose this by the sound of the engine in your garage. That sucks! Hope the rebuild goes easy.
Haha... Yeah, you know... Saying "something isn't right... but I'm going to take it to the lake anyway" ... not the smartest thing I've ever done... and I've done it more than once. Sometimes being stubborn doesn't pay off. It did give me an excuse to make another tool tho, so it's really a win 🤣
Good to see BJ working hard drilling a hole in your sandwich at 21:50. Man I've made so many mistakes because I stayed up late to finish and basically had to do it twice. Usually I forget an o ring in the carb or something so it just doesn't run. Man It should be sweet when it's done. 82mm ported 1100 with an aftermarket ignition. It's gonna be good.
Bj is always hard at work 🤣 I wondered if anyone would notice that. That was a pretty good sandwich. You better believe it's gonna be good ! Haha... Had it out yesterday with Dustin and it RIPS !!
No need for tears Vin. I was momentarily heart breaking, but I can always rebuild it even better. 82mm pistons bring me from 1071cc to 1125cc !! Haha... I was talking to Jacob today and he was saying he has a resleeved cylinder that he's thinking about boring to 84mm... that's an 1179 ... true big bore. I'm hoping to release another video tomorrow ... I think it will make you feel a little better.
Hey Adrian ! I have been wondering about you. Good to hear you are busy, hope you are well. I made a silly mistake and paid for it. It will be up and running again real soon !
Glad u decided to show that you are also human and make silly mistakes… because we all do, but the real ones show them… I was out yesterday with some family and friends and had to tow the superjet back to the beach because of a silly mistake I made when assembling my 701…. Didn’t put loctite on the 3 head pipe bolts and they came loose and I blew the gasket
Yeah, I could have easily edited it out and made it look like it hadn't happened, but I think it's important to show mistakes as well as success. I don't always include every mistake if it just something small, because it doesn't alway fit in the video, but I try to show that I'm not perfect. I was out yesterday and had an exhaust bolt come loose due to no loctite as well... I didn't forget, I just didn't want it to be difficult to get out next time, lol... but I guess I have no choice. Would the SJ not run with the blown gasket ?
It’s the gasket that seals the head pipe from the manifold, so the water flow would have been messed up, I was able to tighten it and get it to the boat launch riding it… but got it temporarily together until the new one comes in
For some comic relief.. I once put the slide back in my carb backwards on an old rd360 yamaha dirtbike. Which effectively meant the carb was wide open. It wouldn't kickstart so I took it out to the road and push started it. It fired. Took off down the road without me headed straight for the big plate glass window on the front of my neighbors house at the end of the road. Luckily it veered off through the woods. It eventually bounced off a tree that ripped the gas tank off. It ran till run out of gas and fell over.
Haha... that's a pretty good story ! I have put slides in backwards on the old round slide carbs, but always managed to notice it before starting them. Later on, most of them had a pin or something to stop you from this, and then of course flat slides... That's gotta be a horrible feeling seeing your bike take off !
@@JoelArseneaultTH-cam yea this was a round slide carb with a pin and pin slot on one side. When you put the slide in backwards there wasn't a slot so the slide sat on top of the pin.
