To feed the algorithm, because I do love these: that specific King Arthur isn't fantasy, because it frames itself as 'the true story' the legends are based on, so there's no magic, Merlin is just a guy, and there's no lady in the lake. It IS however, an insane film for this game, since it's Clive Owen, Keira Knightley, Ioan Gruffad, Ray Stevenson, Mads Mikkelson, and Stellan Skarsgard.
not my ass fantasizing about Ioan Gruffad (this is a subversion of the way more easily accessible joke I could make about Keira Knightley, and also fits better into the NL fanbase ecosystem of being bisexual)
He was equating films with any anxiety inducing elements with "horror" so much I'm surprised he didn't say Cinderella was a horror film because she is tormented by her stepmother and stepsisters.
My favorite oddity I've run into with the categorization of movies since I like the fantasy win condition: Thor 1=Fantasy Thor: The Dark World=Fantasy Thor: Ragnarok=NOT fantasy Thor Love and Thunder=Back to fantasy Like, I get it with something like "Aliens" vs "Alien" since one is clearly just an action movie with monsters and the other is straight horror, but come on. Also, Moana? Not fantasy even though there's literal gods and spirits etc. Same with Aladdin, not fantasy even though there's a goddamn genie in it.
@ruibarian5187 haha true, it is more sci fi than the others, but it still contains all of the elements that make the other ones fantasy, so my argument is that it should be categorized as both at the very least. I did notice it's the only one of the four without Natalie Portman, so maybe she's the secret ingredient that makes the others fantasy.
Horror is by far the worst movie category as everyone has different fears so to some the same movie can be horror as to others thriller and to some sleep aid.
Basically if it’s about something a child would find scary like a monster under the bed or a ghost or a serial killer coming to get ya, then it’s a horror. If it’s something actually scary that could realistically happen (relatively) then it’s a thriller even if the tone resembles a horror
There needs to be a version of this game for people who haven't seen a new movie since like 2017. Anything that came out after Parasite is cheating, as far as I'm concerned.
For me I can kinda guess actors and stuff in the newer movies but I absolutely have no answers for movies in the seventies and sixties. The Eighties are manageable, 2003-2014 is my wheelhouse
A Horror is a Thriller but with supernatural elements. A Thriller is like a Horror, but the guy trying to kill you is just a normal guy. In Crime, they do crime.
Draw a regular Triangle. Lable the three points of the triangle "Horror", "Mystery", and "Action". Now, draw a circle inside that triangle so that all 3 lines are tangent to it. It should touch the triangle exactly at the midpoints of Horror to Mystery, Action to Mystery, and Horror to Action. Everything in that circle is Thriller.
Little did NL remember the start of king arthur there is a screen that says this is the real story of king arthur based on new archaeological findings. So clearly not fantasy. I thought he knew movies./s Real surprised he didn't know the slop movie Ironclad for paul giamatti
To be fair I felt like most of the fantasy one was a bit, and a couple were like ??? (Aladdin for example). And then Horror vs Thriller is pretty difficult for me to parse honestly personally (Don't really process horror) but it really did feel like only monster or slasher movies were being called horror and that's kinda scuffed
@@RalorPenwat Broadly, Horror is more visceral, often delivering on at least some violence instead of merely threatening it, is more commonly supernatural, and more commonly has a moral element to the violence enacted. While Thrillers get their tension from high-stakes situations, which is often connected to powerful forces seemingly beyond control, often with a complicated puzzle or mystery to be figured out before the people can get to safety. For a Venn Diagram: Twister is a thriller. The tornadoes are not evil, and the main characters are CHOOSING to be where they are. The thrill comes from "will they be okay despite the risk they chose to enter?" Civil War and Die Hard are also Thrillers. Saw, is a horror AND a thriller. Complicated traps, elaborate plans, people screaming, bleeding and dying. Similarly, Midsommar and Heretic are also Horror-Thrillers. The Thing, by contrast, is horror, but typically not seen as a "thriller". It's too bleak, and the challenge too straightforward (for all that it is complicated to the characters). Similarly, It and The Exorcist are horror movies that aren't thrillers.
Man gets handed Brad Dourif on a silver platter under horror, never uses a single Child’s Play flick. Then dodges ever fantasy movie ever made to splash around in mid-2000s comedy schlock. I can’t…
NL explaining every movies plot vaguely so it fit into a genre is some of the best banter yet
It's great, cause 90% of the time he's playing to the bit, but King Arthur comes up, and I'm right there with him.
NL: "Hey, want to come over and watch horror movies?"
NL's friends: "Sure"
NL: Puts on 127 Hours and L. A. Confidential
I love the “NL doesn’t know what horror is” bit. Lets him play to the more interesting wincon too.
THE CORRUPTION GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP AND THAT’S NOT HORRIFIC TO YOU???
Cine2Nerdle, even if it's just audio, makes my workdays really flow by.
Same. I unironically get so much work done watching these vids it’s insane

Dude I think Ryan’s mic is TOO good at removing background noises. Every time there was empty air time, I thought my earbuds stopped working
It's a gate filter, it basically completely mutes the audio unless he's speaking
That's because he farts in every mute
i think the video is buffering every time he stops talking for more than a second
Noise Gate!
"Oh hot alien is horrific but dying is thrilling!"
I dunno Jerry, I almost died at that one, and let me tell you: it was a thrill, alright!
Dude, when Scarlett J. came up I thought for sure he'd play 'Vicki Christina Barcelona' especially since he, ya know, mentioned it earlier lmao
This whole video is type a bait. Loved every second of it Jerry.
The "people mentioned" section in the description is the longest I've ever seen holy.
Most pointless but funny feature
i didnt even fucking know this was a thing
Leaked cast of the next MCU movie
This man does not know what a horror movie is
I understand why it doesn't, but Se7en should have the horror tag. The Sloth and Gluttony kills haunt my dreams.
I guess Se7en is like… psychological horror, but it’s not like jump scare horror (which most people probably think of)
@@pervasivedoubt150 psychological horror is way more scary then a jumpscare

Iron Man 3. The scariest horror movie ever made.

He was equating films with any anxiety inducing elements with "horror" so much I'm surprised he didn't say Cinderella was a horror film because she is tormented by her stepmother and stepsisters.
the longest drag off a copium pipe ever recorded, but +2 for sticking with the bit

You know what, I don't think Thor:Ragnarok is Fantasy. It's a lot more Sci-Fi. If I had to pick one or the other, I'd give the nod to Sci-Fi.

@b1oodm1lksky Ragnarok sits in the blurred lines of the science fantasy genre.
"How is Willy Wonka not horror!?!? Have you seen deviantart man???"
TIL NL doesn’t know what a horror movie is
how is Aladdin not a fantasy

TRUE✅
We’re horror guys, of course we only watch thrillers
he knows everything about film except for what "horror" means
mans really doesn't know what horror means, huh?
These videos are fire. The new win condition stuff is great. Adds some strategy to it. Hope he keeps it coming
Ok. I can see why Se7en should be horror, but Interview with a Vampire actually IS? This is insanity.
I'm so fucking joyed that you're playing this again. Top tier content.
"Hot alien is horrific, but dying is thrilling"
Now that he’s figured out the kits were in for a golden age of Cine2Nerdle replayability. We’re so back.
fantasy vs. yorgos was absolute cinema

Best one yet
Cine2Nerdle, my beloved.
If it's not a bit someone please explain to him what a horror movie lol
If it's scary it's a horror
If it's stressful it's a thriller
A couple exceptions for like gore or zombies which aren't meant to be scary but do count as gore

Never heard that pronunciation of Bechdel before
I love watching these as a person who has barely seen any movies (except animated ones oops)
I think we need a librarian count for how much this man brings up the film past lives 😂
Loving the cine2nerdle arc!!!
Its insane that he got hit with with thor ragnorok and didnt immediately type "the fly" with jeff goldblum

Val Kilmer, screaming WILLOW WILLOW WILLOW and scaring my pets.
