- Meet Millie Molly Maine Coon! This project turned out killer! But it wasn't without trial and misfortune. This is an adventure you won't want to miss. I build a hexagon cat bed that is just one part of a future video project that will be integrated into a huuuuge Cat Condo.
@HAXMAN is mentioned in this video as a kind tribute
An @katzmosestools product was featured & mentioned in this video (It made the final outcome totally awesome)

Crazy cat guy here! Grew up with Persians and have had 3 Maine Coons over the years (my last passed from diabetes a few years ago). Will definitely get another one sooner than later though. They are such a joy!
I'm new to the Maine Coon Lifestyle. So far its been great. My wife came home with this cat and never told me what she was doing. It was a "surprise" for me...AKA not me but her. Thanks so much for watching!
@DudeSawdust VERY food motivated, crazy kitten stage lasts longer due to them being slow-growing, (3-4 years until full size) and have the annoying habit of getting real smart just when you don't want them too! Be sure to keep feeding high protien food (dry and wet) to feel their growth and general health. Sass and Squatch get kibble that's 40 percent protien. Higher protien kibble is just too expensive! Ours aren't as highly bred as Millie, but are wonderful just the same!
yes, my wife has been on top of the food thing, just like you said. She id the cat whisperer of the home, I'm more of the just build stuff person...3-4 yeas? I did not know that, very interesting@@morticiaaddams7866
👏👏👏 Impressive! Can't wait for the condo.
Thanks! It’s a biiig project
I thought the air holes were for playing, my cats would absolutely love playing through those holes.
Either with me or other cats.
Great build, hope your cat fills it up❤
She’s really starting to enjoy it. I find her hanging out in it more and more. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful project ! 👏👏
Thanks! I can't wait to have the whole condo done. I think it will look sweet!
I don't know which one I like better, the cute kitty or the awesome cat cave.
So I'll just give you 2 thumbs up. One for each.
I've got 2 Maine coons, Sass and Squatch, because of their big feet.
I read your comment to my wife. She laughed and loved it. Those are great names.
I absolutely love this!! Great job
Thanks! To be honest, I kinda enjoy just looking at it. The finish came out pretty sweet. The entire cat condo should be cool when its all done, can't wait!
What an awesome build! I love the hexagonal design
Thanks! The idea started out as an octagon but that seemed like overkill. The Hexagon seemed like the sweet spot aesthetically. Hopefully the entire cat condo will be even better!
@@DudeSawdust can't wait to see it
First time to see your videos. Well done! I love that you share your mistakes and how you overcame them. It gives me some hope that it’s okay to make some mistakes and not loose expensive wood. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
@@reggiek6730 It's sometimes hard to show the mistakes because it involves being vulnerable but I think it helps in the way you explained. If I showed all of my mistakes the video would be an hour long so I try to show the most important ones. Thanks for watching!
Yeah that fabric bed turned out great! I’ll definitely be looking into that method of doing it! Great video!
Thanks! I'm no upholstery pro but it seems like a great idea.
Maybe you could ask Mrs. Sawdust if she would make some more appearances. I like her!
She has a tight schedule and doesn’t appear for free
@@DudeSawdust Well I have connections. She'll do anything for me. Just let me know when you want her help, and I'll arrange it.
Love the use of walnut & maple. It looks great, and I look forward to the full kitty kondo. (BTW, my cat is happy with a bed in a cardboard box under the piano. 🙂)
Thanks! I’m still trying to get her to enjoy her new bed. So far I’m not sure. But once the whole kondo is built I think she will love playing on it. I certainly would if I was a cat. I 3D modeled a pretty sweet design. Just hope my engineering is solid.
@@DudeSawdustcatnip.
yes, thats what my wife says@@morticiaaddams7866
Absolutely beautiful piece! Thanks for keeping the mishaps in so we can all learn from them. The one thing I’d change is I’d sew my own organic pillow with a non-toxic filling (or if I didn’t sew, I’d commission one). That gorilla glue is probably really toxic.
Thanks! If I kept every mistake the video would be an hour long but I try to highlight the important ones. You know you bring up an interesting idea that I sort of thought about. I mean the cat’s nose is a lot stronger than mine so I hope there isn’t a scent that turns her off. Hopefully she can plug her nose with her thumbs if it gets bad.
@@DudeSawdust I make mistakes too. It’s funny, but I had to go out and buy a plug bit the other day to bore out a threaded insert and then I proceeded to fill it with an oak dowel /smh. Now I have to drill through a hard wood lol. It always makes me feel better to see others aren’t perfect either. As far as the glue, I’d just be concerned with off gassing for your whole household and the cat. Cats also lick everything so if some of that glue gets on his or her fur, it could spell disaster.
@@DudeSawdustOnce it's fully cured, the glue shouldn't be a problem.
really nice!
Thanks! The condo is going to be even better!
My Maine Coon is Freyja, and she is a spazz. 🤣 I totally get it, I spent far too much money building her an entire cat wall. I may or may not steal this idea. 😉😎
Steel away! Its a fun project for sure. I'm new to the Maine Coon world and so far really liking it. Thanks for watching!
I know the feeling! We're up to four cat trees. Three in the living area and one in the sunroom!
nice!@@morticiaaddams7866
Nice man. Gotta let that router eat a little less material next time. How were your shorts after that incident?
Man! it was the worst!. Soiled front and back. Still have to repair the hole in the dry wall, hand cast comes of in 6 weeks.
Why is router table so high up? Filming or no low bench/table/cart to set the router table on? Seemed like large factor. Enjoyed so much! Bingeing some of your old videos again.
Great question. I’ve put off any router station because I’ve wanted to do a video on the build. The plan is to figure something out this year. I just put it on top of my work bench for the meantime. Thanks for watching some of my old videos. Hopefully you find a gem or two.
Great build, and Millie is adorable! First time watcher, and I enjoyed your style and the honesty about your mistakes. Subscribed!
One thing that made this particularly amusing for me is the fact that your shop is essentially the opposite of mine, gear-wise. I have a monster of a 3HP cabinet saw that's way too much saw for my skills and needs, but no bandsaw and a stupid benchtop jointer that looks like a toy.
You, on the other hand, have a simple jobsite saw but one massive beast of a bandsaw and a huge jointer. I'm curious and still trying to figure out the directions in which I'll develop my shop, so if you don't mind me asking: why did you decide to build your shop that way? Do you not miss having a larger, more powerful table saw with a cast iron top?
Thanks!
Thanks so much for subscribing and watching. You bring up an interesting topic and something I have obviously thought a lot about over the years. Well over 90% of everything in my shop has been completely funded by the money I make through my TH-cam channel. One of the first 3 tools I brought was a table saw, then I started the channel. I really really want a saw like yours, but instead of upgrading I decided to buy what I don't have yet. As I earn more money, I will reinvest into tools. 99% of all of my TH-cam income goes back into tools and maintaining the channel. So the more my channel grows, the better my shop will become. Not having a big table saw doesn't prevent me from building anything, it would just be better. Not having a bandsaw and jointer prevent me building certain things (yes there are work arounds). So that big saw is definitely in my future...good things comes to those (me) who wait!
@@DudeSawdust Absolutely! That's a wise way to go about building your shop, I think. I only have that huge saw because I found it second hand for a once in a lifetime kind of price, so I bought it way before it made sense for me to actually have it ahaha. I had a Dewalt just like yours and it was by far the #1 most used tool in my shop, so I jumped at the opportunity to upgrade!
And you're totally right about the bandsaw being kind of a must-have for lots of projects. I'm finding myself thinking of more and more stuff I want to make which kind of demand one, so it's the next tool I'll get. I can only afford a small one right now, but since I've never even had one, it makes sense to start small, I guess.
Soon enough I'll also start my own channel, and I'll keep your approach in mind! Thanks for your response :)
@@lgconf having a TH-cam channel comes with lots of highs and lows. Lots of views and new tools are definitely the highs. I hope you find much success with your channel.
I definitely splurge by getting more bandsaw then I probably needed but it was treat myself moment for sure. I actually want to get another bandsaw that is smaller with a thinner blade. That way I don’t have to change the resaw blade. I have another plan for extra routers with a similar idea. Those are luxuries. But one tool at a time and also it depends on the project. New Projects bring in new tools.
@@DudeSawdustDon't forget to watch for ads for used tools in good shape! My husband got a jointer and a beefy table saw in great shape for a great price!
@@morticiaaddams7866 There are a lot of great used tools out there. I'm the worst when it comes to looking for them. Half the hobby is woodworking, the other half is outfitting the shop!
is anyone gonna tell him the cat won't use this as soon as it finds a cardboard box to sleep in? LOL. Nice build though.
So much truth to your comment. But shes a cat so they are easy to herd right?
@@DudeSawdustIt's so sweet how innocent you are! 😁
Your cat has 30 toes, good. He’ll probably donate one or two to you, is you don’t start using push sticks.
fingers are like eyeballs and nostrils, you only need one😁
