Blake's Takes give his opinion on the most recent statement from Creative Assembly regarding their lacklustre launch of Pharaoh and their Shadows of change offering ========================= Link to apology www.totalwar.c...
CA now admits fault and how the fans view them with this apology. The plan to improve Warhammer 3 and Pharaoh over the next year is a step in the right direction and hopefully this marks the beginning of a new era of both TW and CA as a whole.
The fact they replied to this issue at all really and especially with an apology is CA living up to what I would expect them to do. I was there for Shogun on the day of release, which was 25 years ago now, and I've bought nearly every single total war game since then, aside from Pharaoh and that Britannia thing that happened. So many companies like EA, and many others, would have paid some lip service and moved on with zero **cks given. I know CA is a large and very profitable company now, but I hope they make a strong effort to keep that mentality of the studio that release Shogun in 2000. And I think they're on the right path. I hope! The fans like myself have given them tons of loyalty and money over the last two and half decades.
This is great news, a huge step in the right direction. Channels like this make a huge difference. Fair and balanced reviews which actually offer CA something to work with. Keep up the good work mate!
The apologies and the road map shown is reassuring so good on them. My cynical side is still not convinced that this isn't all just PR fluff so we will see what happens in the future. Thank you Blake.
This is a change from directors down through management. It’s a policy shift. The do less and charge the same policy has been proven not to work. They are now on a provide quality policy (stated) to regain trust. Because the previous one only works short term if there is trust.
I know many wished for an apology by CA and I am glad they got what they wanted, for me personally, I will wait and see and there is nothing to be excited about. It is just words, we will have to wait and see whether they actually deliver upon them. I however hope they turn things around and it is not just empty words.
If it were up to me, that 'big free update' to Shadows of Change would be an overhaul to a game 1 or 2 race, preferably the dwarfs since they are badly lagging behind arguably the most due to the feature/power creep of the trilogy. I do appreciate the real apology this time. It comes across as genuine and thoughtful, although I'm still cautious about their follow through on their promises.
Fixing what happened with the Shadows of Change is probably best this way. I've always thought the idea of simply dropping the price after the fact will reflect poorly on those who bought it previously on the full price (unless they did what they did with Pharoh, but let's be honest, that's not likely to be common in almost any situation). Upgrading the DLC to better reflect the price tag is a welcome endeavor we'll have to wait and see how they execute it. Hope for the best and expect the worst I suppose. Also as an idea for your Why You Suck at series, you could either revisit another faction or feature a new one while using the Old World Mod. It would double as a little showcase for the popular mod if you were so interested. I'd certainly understand if it was only a one time thing though.
That's a great idea. I have only played total war Vanilla (for my sins.) But I would love to showcase some of the excellent mods out there. Hope the Shadows of Change quality update is good - but I won't be holding my breath for it.
Does anyone take this apology seriously? ''we're sowy, it breaks our hearts that you distrust us.'' meanwhile they're gouging their fanbase with reskins of reskins of older games. Just another corpo BS PR response almost 2 years too late coming from another snake vice president, because they're realizing that they're gonna be losing a lot of money next year as a result of their actions this year. They're just trying to save face and hope their fanbase buys this ''apology''. Luckily for them gamers have a memory of a gold fish so it will probably work and they know this and this is why they're doing this.
instead of an unasked Pharao total war game ...why not stick to the Warhammer Franchise and get the 40k IP into this ? ...damn Total war with spacemarines, Necrons, Orks and all that Chaos would be a ride

I must be "spoiled" after working as a QA bug reporter for a Microsoft game studios game.
100% the bugs in the game are still chronic. There's so much work to do to put it to an acceptable level. Glad they've apologised, it was the right move. But I'll believe it all when I see it. Hot fixes recently have been nice, but there's still so much to be done.
this one I doubt is gonna happen partner program isn't what content creators want it to be, it's just marketing. they're not there to provide feedback, they're there to showcase the games.
Nothing like this. If you throw out another unsuccessful title every time, the company will lose any remaining trust. And if you admit and correct mistakes, you can regain the respect of the public. The story of No Man's Sky is proof of this.
CA have realised that with both Hyenas and TW: Pharaoh bombing, they cant keep pissing of the Total Warhammer fans, or it''s lights out unfortunately, That being said, I hope they learn from this whole situation and apologies alone can only get them so far, so I hope they stick to what they've said here and start to work on delivering a better product. Also Blake you mentioned sieges, have you ever thought about making a video talking about you would go about improving them?
@@BlakesTakes420There’s been so much good siege content in other TW titles that I was (and remain) so disappointed by sieges. Whoever had the idea of the supplies building defences on the fly for that weird Kislev tower defence game mode and then lazily ported it into the main game has a lot to answer for.
If I could get whatever the people running the show for SoC and Pharaoh were smoking that'd be great, it's gotta be some strong stuff. Regarding the free update and delay of Thrones of Decay... I mean... I'm a Dwarf fan myself so frankly half-baked ideas like that in SoC would have been worth at least a few pages in the book. I'm glad they're giving it more time in the oven as it were. However I must admit I find the talk of transparency funny as we've been promised that like 3 times now. As for Pharaoh frankly the only thing that's gonna make me want to play it is if they added the Hebrews somehow, it'd be really fun to play as the ancient kingdom of Israel despite the history problems of the time frame.
@@BlakesTakes420 If I may, I wish to say as someone who has always been more... Once bitten, twice shy. Too much of this sort of thing going on of late, especially at a time when everyone is struggling and choosing a game/DLC to buy is a harder choice than usual. Haven't purchased a single CA DLC or game since this happened, and I have every Warhammer DLC for series 1, 2 and 3 apart from this last one.
So now they're going full damage control and even managed to contact a spin doctor to show them how to reduce everyone's expectations for their newest game and the4 DLC's that are not coming. Trying to make believe this is a choice stemming from ethics instead of a failed marketing and dwindling finances.
Maybe Mother Stanky Ass's starting position will make more sense when they make whatever changes they have in mind lol. Least of their concerns, I'm sure, but it was like they threw a dart at the map and were like "Sure, why not".

I honestly don't even know what they were thinking with Pharao. I just saw the title and realized it'd be egyptian era and there my went my thoughts of ever buying the game. Ancient egypt can be exciting in many ways, but never for a total war game. Factions you don't know or have little care for, obvious lack of units. I havn't even played it but I just assume thats the case because how many types of units can you really create from that era? As Blake said. Noone asked for this, because everyone knew it would be boring.
People were asking for ancient total wars since forever. You saying you don't know the factions and think there would be a lack of units just shows you don't know much about history of that region. Which is fine. but the same complaint can be raised about any other TW. Person who isn't interested in history of Japan probably won't find much fun in Shogun, etc.

If they don't... then they lose the little credibility they've managed to scrounge up with this blogpost, and they will lose the majority of their old potential playerbase.
