I used the paper towel method for Bells this year. Success! Wet paper towel, baggie on a a heat mat, sprayed with water every morning. I removed sprouted seeds daily and put in a pre-prepared tray with soil mix, gave them a spray of water then under grow lights. Filled up the tray in a week or so and they are growing on nicely.

I enjoyed this so much! I am always impressed with your organizational skills and business ideas. You are very thorough with your explanation of processes. I am in southern Wisconsin and grew a fancy (pricey) gerbera daisy in a pot this summer. It grew huge with many blooms and I dug it and brought it inside for the winter. It is blooming in a south window continuously. I wish you continued success on your flower filled journey!

DRIP (is what I think it's called) from Home Depot is the BEST drip irrigation to use. I have my whole garden and flower beds on it and I love it!!

The gerbera daisy is not an easy flower for flower farmers because they have to be wired, otherwise the head drops… and that take a lot of time to do to each stem. But they are very beautiful 😊

Great video! Our towns sound so much alike...and that's why I can relate so much to your pricing on the bouquets. Too high..and they won't sell. Too low and you may as well give them away! (which I do after market..as on Sat. I have no outlet for them when all is done.) I have sold some to the town florists. My lissies didn't even sell when I first started taking them. People weren't used to seeing them! The florists bought them.

Once my market customers saw lissies they asked for them in the future!

Really love the tips and tricks, especially your ideas for the farmers market and Bells of Ireland sprouting. Heat mats are not an option as I am off the grid. Have had good results with placing trays in a loft above my wood stove, so plan to try that with the bells in a baggie/towel method. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

FYI Baptisia is great in landscape, and I use the foliage as a filler.. looks like Eucalyptus and it lasts forever.! I also have an herb garden and they can be great for fillers.... especially mint!

Put the baggie with the Bells seeds in your fridge for a week or two and then put the baggie on your heat mat and check every day. Transfer germinated seeds to soil. This is what Nicole of Flower Hill Farm showed in a video last year and it worked well for me!

@@SunshineFlora Oh, be sure they are damp in the fridge. Putting dry seeds in the fridge isn’t the same. Now this year, hopefully I can do this early enough that they grow to a good size! Last year I was able to start them fine, but I didn’t get the seeds until pretty late, so I planted them after last frost and it got hot and I had teeny tiny little Bells of Ireland plants. 😂 They were doll sized.

Gerbera daisies are generally wired in bouquets - another step you would need to think about, I guess.

I don’t think it’s just you with Gerbera daisy’s, I’ve found them difficult also. I will bring a beautiful plant home and within weeks it’s dead.😢 As beautiful as they are I won’t buy them anymore.❄️💚🙃

QUESTION: How do you price your pumpkins? By size, or weight? And do you physically mark the pumpkin price on them? ❄️💚🙃

      I’m wondering this too!

    • @SunshineFlora

Basically by type…..minis are $1. I’m thinking of doing 2 for $3 next year. Then the rest range from $3-$7 based on size. I kind of guess and make prices comparable to a farm stand that is about an hour from me that I visit each year for their giant mums!

How did you find local wholesalers in your area? Just Google search?
