I have a Mini Peasant. It's a Roman Peasant knife made in New Zealand from a high-carbon Swedish tool steel called L7 that Svord uses with a proprietary tempering formula to create an outstanding blade at a crazy cheap price. Svord makes their money from selling lots of knives instead of selling fewer at a larger profit. I filed that point off the back of the handle. It's a great EDC and you can drop it and so what? It's tough and inexpensive and perfect for what it is, a great blade that holds an edge EXTREMELY well with the most simple handle design and being able to grab that tang as you reach into your pocket is something you get used to right away.

I carried the Mini Peasant in my pocket for over a year, never once did it come close to opening accidentally. I was biking daily to work, doing physical tasks at work. This reviewer is clearly unfamiliar with this kind of knife and already formed a negative opinion without getting to know this knife. Oh well, the rest of us know this is a practical design that has stood the test of time.

Thanks for the tip! I ended up just giving this knife away to my indian buddy at the qwik E mart. I just keep a cheap harbor freight knife in my truck. Svord is a cool design but not really for me. I'm more of a butter knife kind of guy.

If you get one and don't like it as a folder, they're easy to convert to a fixed blade with the tang the way it is

You can make it tighter buy adjusting the top screw. It’s a great knife for me. I had a stroke and my left had is a claw. For an edc in the UK it’s a good cheep knife. I’m replacing the plastic scales with some wood for an old time look. It holds an edge well and it’s forged.

    • @newenglandlife978

You seem like the kind of guy who doesn't trust any knife without a lock. Slipjoints, friction folders and the like are not mean´t for thowing into tables or for splitting wood. If used correctly for their intended use they are great. Just tighten the pivot screw and it will never open in your pocket.

you did a reasonably good summary of the peasent knife, except for one thing you missed completely which is that the bolt that holds the blade in the knife also doubles as a tension adjustment device, simply tighten the screw and the blade can be either tightened up or locked in place as required.

I carry one in my pocket had no issues it cuts and costs hardly anything it's a bloody good knife. Also it's a modern version of a Roman proto pocket knife.

Hahahaha Totally understand....I was unsure at first as well....Never had a friction folder before....I've had my mini peasant svord for about 2 years as a EDC....Never had a problem with it opening in my pocket...Hahahaha But I did spend a lot of time with it first before i started carry it.....Whats great is that you can make your own scales for it easily.... The bright colors also help to not lose it in the woods, That's why I chose orange hahaha

Nitrogen doesn’t retain moisture so in a cold climate you have less chance of internals freezing. People have issues with internals freezing on these systems. Warm climate probably wouldn’t matter. I’m pretty sure it does take In air from the atmosphere when needed. I ram a vacuum in mine for a while and got a good amount of moisture out. You could always just run air now and figure out the nitrogen before winter. I did have to recalibrate my sensors in order for the system to regain full function
