Making a Ring from Rolex Steel - 904L Stainless Steel Ring

  • Today I make a ring out of 904L Stainless Steel. This is the same metal alloy that Rolex (and other high-end brands) use to make their watches. It holds an incredibly high mirror polish and it is insanely impervious to corrosion including ocean water and even high strength acid. It has many benefits of a noble metal like gold, but it retains the high strength of steel, it's really a best of both worlds situation.

The Nitric Acid with the meteorite ring made a cool design though. Itd be cool to make a ring like that and then reinforces the air gaps with some resin

Great work! 👍 why is 904 difficult to work with? I mean, it's known to be much much softer than the standard 316, which is industry standard for watchmaking. Known to be easier to polish as well
