No lie. EVERY December 25 I recite Kurtis Blow's "Christmas Rappin'." ALSO class of '80. Bought all the albums then, I remember ConFunkShun, Gap Band, Sweat Band, Change, Shalamar was in its middle of its three phases, EWF was following up "I Am" LP with "Let's Groove" single. In college, I'd stretch out for cross-country practice in the gym where the basketball team had tape players.
My oldest brother and Clarence "Fuzzy" Haskins were classmates in school. He still has a picture of the 2 of them sitting in our mother's 1961 Chevy! The group use to store their drum set on our back porch, that's how I got into drumming by banging on theirs! Killed many brain cells at Parliament concerts in the DC area while in the service in the '70s and loved every minute! No need to worry funkateers...P-Funk will last forever!!!!
