I just realized, Angelica might have been singing the last part of her song in such high notes because she was "screaming out" her frustration or trying not to cry. Like how some people's voices turn high when they're lying.
Then the very last lines were sung in a more quiet way because it was her reminding herself of the truth in their situation.
Love this! In musicals, composers often think about this: "form follows function." Not only do lyrics tell the story in a musical, but also the music: the notes, the orchestration, etc. As such, higher notes often indicate more intense emotions. Also, orchestrators may choose to make a moment more quiet in order for it to be given more focus & bring more of a sense of introspection.
