Having been in the entertainment business for 30 years and had agents, managers, accountants, lawyers, etc., I can tell you that the idea of a single agent, who is an employee of a larger agency was stealing from an artist or athlete's personal account is VERY hard to believe,. In any big money situation like the Lawrence brothers business there are levels of protection and safeguards that make this really difficult to do. The checks that the guys receive don't even go directly to Lucas, They go to the company, then to the accounting department at the company, then to the Lawrence accountant who is in charge of disbursement of funds to the guys.. Sometimes accountants act as business managers and handle investments, tax issues, even simple monthly expenses. You don;'t think those guys pay their own car leases or cable bill or Netflix or any of that? They are shielded from all of it so all they have to do is race and fulfill their others duties for Honda. The normal "life stuff" all goes through the accountant or business manager. So how is the agent, the first person in the chain of incoming money going to get their hands in the accounts and steal enough money to make it even a blip on the radar screen. Everyone down the line is looking for checks that are coming in so that they can do their jobs. What's going to come out, if Lucas does what he should do which is sue Wasserman and the Lawrences, is how the Lawrences set up their finances and what even makes this possible. Something is amiss here. And what sucks is, I love the Lawrence Brothers. They are so good for the sport. I just feel like they may have gotten some bad advice that led to this and when cooler heads prevail they will be able to see what's really at play. Anyway, sorry to be so long winded, I just feel bad for the guy.

That is what's so odd about this. The very first thing legal counsel tells you is to not make public situations like this. Is the Lawrence camp really that dumb, or is there some sort of ulterior motive involved?

It's not a strange thing to say. My understanding is that Lucas got a lot of doors (revenue pathways) open for the Lawrences that were not possible previously. They will continue to reap the benefits of these contracts after his firing.
