    If i may, i have a suggestion. Ships you do not use can be stored inside the mothership. For example, i have 2 docks. 6 cargo ships, 2 miners and one science ship. After i explore the system completely, i store the research ship. After i mine eeverything, i store the mining ships. And at the top of it's glory, six cargo ships strip out the entire system very quickly. I had this setup before i left Sol system.

    It seems that people is the issue? Can you not create more factories to thaw people, then you will get workers twice as fast? Enjoying the play through 👍

      Yes, you can build more than 1 Cryogenic to thaw faster, but they do take up space and require Workers and Power.

    Can't just slap buildings down and worry about it later, this game seems to require more foresight. Building up surplus tends to put you in a corner with difficult decisions to make later.

    Yeah, def need another EVA, that hull was not going up nearly fast enough. Hmm, moving the cargo ships directly to a (or two?) new dock(s) in the industrial sector could be a good idea.
    Science/mining ships can be anywhere because they don't deliver base mats.

    Hey Nilaus just a tip if you don't have enough storage units you can use an exploit... now for instance you have 4 processors in storage click on that storage and you can select different item and they will deliver 96 of the second item you choosed. To be able to access processors again you need just enable them again. So the conclusion is you can access only one of item at once. Cheers buddy 👋👍

    I really think the game could benefit from a pop balancer the way other resources work. Like if one sector is optimal and has extra workers they should automatically reassign.

      The only way to get more population is through the Cryopods and they can send worker/non-worker to specific locations up to a threshold, so that is 95% of what you are asking for

    Well I'm going to have to see what it is you did last time because I have started the game 4 times and every time I get to this point I am stuck in a death spiral. Yet I see you are enjoying a large positive in your constant hull damage.

      EVA Airlocks repair damage, but only if they have Alloy available to repair with. It is easy to use all Alloy for construction and then there is nothing left for constant repairs

      Watched the previous video (which I missed) and I see the key was the space specialization. That let me get to the next phase at least.

      @@b.delacroix7592 Space specialization is important, that gives a +10% bonus to repairs, also Optimal working conditions gives extra 5 per airlock. But you won't be able to survive with just one airlock for long.

      @@b.delacroix7592 Yeah, the trick is keeping working conditions optimal. Once they start having accidents, the explosions damage the hull, then one EVA is not enough to repair it, then you run out of people to run things because of death and injuries, which leads to more overwork, more accidents and so on it goes.
      So basically: only build stuff if you already have the people to run it (or you're switching other stuff off) AND enough alloy left over for repairs.

    One thing that I'm very interested in, and I hope that the story of the game addresses is: if there are any survivors who saw the, eh, "incident", how would they react to seeing the ship that doomed humanity. Especially if they're one of the popsicles that you revive, imagine that!

      All the questions regarding the survivors, including not just this one, but also "Why can't the survivors tell us what happened?" Are answered by one thing: decryonization affects people's memories.
      That's all you get in the entire game lol.

    I survived "phase 2" by building a second EVA Airlock in Sector 2. That bumps up the Alloy cost to 4/cycle but you get an enormous boost to Hull repair. I built a 2nd Dock in Sector 2 as well to speed up production, cause you dont have to transfer from sector to sector. You don't really need the space specialization rank 1.

      Space specialisation rank 1 then 2 makes EVA Hull repair slightly faster, and more efficient for the same Alloy use. In the current 2024 version, I can reach rank 2 with 1 Lab, 2 Dock, 2 EVA and 2 Probe Launchers. Some of the time, I keep 1 EVA unPowered to avoid repairing too fast, because the closer you get to fully repaired Hull the less efficient it is. Even unPowered it still counts towards specialisation.

    Glad to see the issues with the game and developers breaking it with a patch just to roll it back hasn't been able to stop you. I will just live through your videos until this game isn't a beta anymore and they figure out what they are doing.

      You should see Industries of Titan -- where you build ONE ship and the game gobbles up all of Nilaus's 128 gigabytes (and the ship still doesn't do anything useful)

They said they rolled back the patch and were going to fix the patch and push it back out today or something... I dunno. They lost my trust for a while. The only early access game i genuinely enjoyed with little issues is Dyson Sphere Program and Satisfactory.. was really hoping this would have been good, but i will wait a while before trying again. Problem is, they didnt even market this as Early Access or a Beta or anything when it clearly was by the issues people are reporting on the forums and such.

      100% agree. If it ain't finished, don't pretend, but move the release date. There will be enough fans to buy it anyway (as an early access item), and evven though it hurts sales, it won't kill the dev team's reputation. You mentioned NMS - they did the right thing but unfortunately didn't communicate that they were fixing isues and finishing missing features, and many lost patience and refunded. (It was NMS that made Steam change their refund conditions.) _Maaaaayybe_ they're working just as hard as hello games, but I wouldn't bet money on it right now.

      This is a second large game for Bulwark Studios, cut them some slack. Mechanicus was rad, though it also had bugs.

      @@p_serdiuk whether it is the first or 3rd or 100th, shouldn't really matter though. It should be standard practice to make sure things are ready for release and test them properly prior to release. It is becoming all too common for studios to release broken software just to have to repair it. Newer studios should be learning from others and not repeating the mistakes others make.

    I'm surprised you don't play with the ALT mode on by default, it shows you all the resources in your buildings just like Factorio (you can toggle it clicking the button next to your iron in the top left or by holding ALT)

    I died in a cascade of unlucky accidents resulting in strikes in my hospitals. Haha , so many hours wasted :) Better have 4 hospitals per sector next time.

      they don't strike because of accidents, but because of overwork which also causes accidents. You need to only run under Optimal conditions even when there is an accident.

    i can tell you my people try to kill me in my playthrough 300 worker and 600 non working guys in 1 sector dont know where to put them and the big buildings(125) can only be build on the wall.
    air lock in the second sector too helps with repair hull goes down faster with every jump and sector

    I've ended up building a Dock in the second sector. so rather than having to set up trade routes of Fe, I have some transports that only bring Fe, and Ca, Si (eventually to that one sector)

      I was considering that as well, but I want the Space and Industry specialisations to affect the relevant buildings and that cannot be done if they are in the same sector

    It's not that hard of a game once you understanded what you were supposed to do, I bet there are 90% of people don't know that you MUST upgrade the tech level of the science lab ASAP because the game did not tell you you should or even you are ABLE to upgrade a tech after you have researched it, I have reached sector 2 finale now and I am pretty confident with what I am doing.
    The balance is a bit harsh but that I would mostly blame it on the shitty tutorial that tells you almost zip on how to not die before you are already well inside the death spiral.
    They don't even tell you that you can switch out the ships loadout so that you can rush all the science, switch to cargo ship, collect all the pods and juicy resources, then start mining the shit out of the system and move on to the next chapter.
    I had to restart 3 times because I still couldn't understand the mechanics until it was too late, maybe some more handhelding before throwing you straight into the airlock developer?

      Well, they tried doing some balancing improvements in a patch but apparently they never tested it since it made the game pretty much unplayable so they had to roll back the patch. So much about this game looks good, but it also looks like they either rushed it which cut corners and tutorials or they just had poor/no QA testing to see how this game would actually play.

      Update: Blew myself up in sector 3, turns out you need a bigger stockpile changing from insects to water crops, should have use a new sector to build from scratch instead of half dismantling the original farm, totally forgot you will lose the 10% crops modifier when food output is lowered(another feature the game should tell you lol

      @@michaelhanson5773 probably because the devs are writing both the game and the tutorial, things that are obvious for them but hide behind a click is already enough to make people confuse.
      Like I wasted 4 circuit board on the colonist center because I build it in a worker only sector and it just kept training nothing, and the game is very vague on what space weather actually do to you until you start losing ships left right and center, luckily I had a habit to save every single choice for the story, which saves my ass multiple times now.
      I am now reloaded my sector 2 save and try again, hope I will make it further this time.

    One of your cargo ships spent the entire episode unloading Popsicles one at a time, every time a storage spot opened up because one got thawed. Build another storage for Popsicles please! :p

    why not build a dock, and EVA port in the 2nd sector? so that cargo ships with materials can transfer directly to the industrial sector and hull repair materials can flow directly from the factories?

    There's a difference between 'hard' and 'unbalanced'. Souls games are hard, XCOM games (can be) hard, board games with Mexicans is *hard*, the game of love is a nightmare. This game just feels unbalanced. I know you think people who get random accidents and are struggling aren't playing the game right (or whiney babies). I micromanage my resources and population, plan out my steps, and play the game with the idea that it's supposed to be complex and difficult. I still get accidents with good working conditions, I get strikes and people being angry when morale is good, I get people transferring back to the sector they were sent from immediately, and resources that won't balance out between sectors. Also workers that flat out disappear... not died, just gone, I checked.
    I don't doubt these are bugs, given the large amount of people that face these issues and how ridiculous they are, but they absolutely kill the game for me. Still, the idea that we have a ship that can transwarp through the shadow realm using its spore drive, but can't maintain structural integrity at sublight speeds is absurd. Not to mention it loses that same integrity when you have the audacity to hack the door to a pre-built section of the station. Or that a core gameplay mechanic is going to kill you. Or that staying in the Sol system too long will bring legitimate penalties to your crew. Or that leaving the Sol system will bring legitimate penalties to your crew. I could go on.
    I'm fine with the game being complex and unforgiving... but not with it being buggy and/or unbalanced. Which it is. So says the internet. But that's why I give you my money, cause you're better at this than I am. Honestly it *is* a good game and I'm happy to watch you play it. I'll come back to it further down the development road.
    P.S. There's no such thing as 'irreparable' damage. Like for some reason the laws of physics, God, and Todd Howard decided you can't just remove that unfixable section of metal or broken part and replace it with something else. I have faith the game makes more sense later down the line, but it sure doesn't feel like it.

      Accidents have been tuned in the latest patch. It was a bit overwhelming.
      But I do not find anything unreasonable in the game. It is hard in the same way that Captain of Industry is hard. Punishing mistakes; even mistakes you didn't know was a mistake. You are supposed to learn from the mistakes.
      I recommend taking a save every hour of play. If you make a mistake then you don't have to start all over

      One thing to note is that the penalty to staying to long in the Sol system seems to be temporary and disappear when you leave. At least it did for me. That means there's a lot less reason to rush. You'll be dealing with the same -1 penalty to leaving that you are dealing with for staying, so leaving early to get rid of or avoid the penalty can never help, and you're far better off stabilizing in a chapter you are taking less hull damage in, unless you vitally need several advanced technologies (in which case, hitting up Chapter 2 for the additional exploration science would be good).
      You will definitely get accidents no matter what. There seems to be a schedule, and it's almost predictable that at Optimal conditions, you will typically get a new accident right when the first set of people are nearly recovered. This basically just forces you to have enough spare workers to assume you will always have 10-15 per sector in the infirmary. The "tightness" of workers is an issue, but it's partly a prod to build more space and worker-efficient sectors (since every additional sector requires a certain number of infirmary/mess hall/basic storage/additional EVA jobs, if you can do the same job in fewer sectors you will be better off) and partly a prod to micro a lot. In the early chapters I'm pretty much always running 1 steel mill + one other factory, and I switch between them depending on what I need more right then. I got in the habit of deactivating all storages I didn't actively need at all times, which can be tiresome but is pretty effective at saving worker jobs.

I wanted to experience the game and story myself first, (Nilaus watched Nilaus play the demo) and kept myself out of spoilers and got spoiled here from title and thumbnail... Will come back later to compare how differently I played the game and how he solved the same problems but man.. if this was the main plot-twist and now I know its coming.. oh no.

    I bought the game after watching you play the demo, and wanted to experience the story now, and your title.. damn.. other guy in comments told to unsub and resub.. that might be the best option. Dammit, I hate being spoiled like this. I will watch later to compare how I did to what you came up with, that was the idea.

      Some channels just dont take spoilers into consideration when they are trying to get the click/views they want... Honestly, it would be fine if channels when doing a Lets play just said the game's title and part # and that was all, or if there was a chapter saying what chapter(s) were in the episode. Spoilers in the title like this are terrible.
