  • Ukulele Tutorial of Man Who Sold The World by David Bowie. www.ukelikethepros.com
In this uke tutorial video I'll show you how to play all the single note ukulele riffs and chords. There are a few bar chords in the song so these aren't necessarily beginning ukulele chords but with some practice you should be able to get them.
The single note lines can be divided into 2 parts. The first part is a repeating intro ukulele lick that gets repeated over different chords. The second parts are ukulele scales that are played over different chords. The 2 main scales are the C Major Scale (played over the C Chord) and the F Major Scale (played over the F chord).
"The Man Who Sold the World" is a song written and performed by David Bowie. It is the title track of his third album, which was released in the US in November 1970 and in the UK in April 1971.
The song has been covered by a number of other artists, notably by Lulu, who had a UK No. 3 hit with her version in 1974, and Nirvana, whose 1993 performance of the song for the television program MTV Unplugged introduced it to a new audience.

Probably the best lesson i saw. Only 1 thing can be added: a full song with lyrics and chords|tabs at the start of the video.

    We passed upon the stair
We spoke of was and when
    Although I wasn't there
He said I was his friend
    Which came as a surprise
    I spoke into his eyes
    I thought you died alone
    A long long time ago
    Oh no, not me
    We never lost control
    You're face to face
With the man who sold the world
    I laughed and shook hand
And made my way back home
I searched for form and land
For years and years I roamed
    I gazed a gazeless stare
    We walked a million hills
    I must have died alone
    A long, long time ago
    Who knows?
    Not me
    I never lost control
    You're face to face
With the man who sold the world
    Who knows?
    Not me
    We never lost control
    You're face to face
With the man who sold the world

Terry - how is your G string tuned? Is it an octave off the others? When I try the c major scale my g string is higher sounding then the c string. I am do the first two notes of the scale differently to get the same sound. I m enjoying the video!

    • @Ukelikethepros
      @Ukelikethepros  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Randal, I have a Low G string on my tenor ukulele. Many ukuleles come with a High G string, but I prefer a Low G because it gives you the extra low note which is great for scales and chords.

    • @randalfippinger9448
      @randalfippinger9448 7 ปีที่แล้ว

Okay. Thanks. I have a concert with a high G. I can tweak the scale to get at what you are doing! BTW - I love your app (though the main page could have a nicer "look"). I am enjoying working on the "Style of Let It Be." I am a novice so you are killing me with the flairs you add without explaining them! :)

Uke Like The Pros I’ve been thinking about switching to a low g string. are chords that use the g string still the same or are there new chords?

I feel like an ass for mentioning it, maybe you did it on purpose. The first run part of the chorus is 4 measures and the second half after the Dsharp chord is 3 measures in the David Bowie version and Nirvana.
