These are so cute, and easy to make! Unfortunately I find a way to make things more complicated for myself almost all the time! So I decided I’d take this gingerbread man, and the other one that has legs, and combine different parts from each to make my own gnome. It turned out really nice, but probably took me three times longer to m. 😢
I realized my original plan wouldn’t work when I thought about putting the dowl rod legs into the Tootsie Roll container!😂

Very cute!! ...but how is the person that receives this gift supposed to get the candy out? ❤️
Patti is the Queen of gnome making, but as I watched, I wondered the same thing and was trying to envision making some sort of lid with a tiny handle to pull it off
She did say they could lift up on the pipe cleaner n get the candy out. But after she said it she tied twine around the top to secure it more. So my thought would be either cut the twine n lift up on pipe cleaner like she stated or make the twine into a tight bow like we tie our shoes so the person receiving could untie get candy out the tie it back.

You just lift the pipe cleaner that is on top of the paper and punch a hole in the top to remove the candy. You don't need to remove the twine. You really don't need to remove all of the paper from the top. Thanks, Patti

Thanks Karen. You can use a tootsie roll container, just enlarge the pattern a little.
Yes. How do you get the candy out?
Just cut a hole in the top of the paper after you remove the hat.
How do you get the candy out without tearing it up?
You just poke a hole in the top of the tube. You don't glue the hat on, it comes off. Just a quarter size hole will open the top.
The only thing i do not like is that you have to destroy it to get to the candy inside.
I just put the hat on, I don't glue it on. They just lift the hat and the candy is right there. Thanks, Patti
