Partly I'm just fortunate that my library has so many great options so I can do library book hauls without the guilt haha Okay now im ACTUALLY excited to read Hi, I'm a Witch, and My Crush Wants Me to Make a Love Potion (we need to shorten that somehow!!)💖💖💖 omg yes PLEASE i fully recommend with hat atelier with my whole heart, i am in a reading slump right at this very moment, but it is STILL the only exception and the only thing i want to read! Yes! Funnily enough, Book Lovers was my very first Emily Henry book back in 2022, and although I gave it 5 stars at the time I think it is more of a 4.5 or even slightly lower on reflection, i liked the story but i didn't feel the MOST connection between the characters compared to most of her other books i read afterwards, especially after reading her other work! I think my least favourite to favourite goes, You and Me on Vacation (or People We Meet On Vacation if you're US-based), Book Lovers, Beach Read (kind of tied with Happy Place), Happy Place, and #1=Funny Story!! I love ALL her books honestly and even though Beach read is TECHNICALLY no longer my favourite, it will always be the book that touched my heart in an inconceivable way 🥰 and NEVER apologise to me for a long comment, i am a certified yapper and in turn must apologise to you for my long reply 😛😭

Beach Read isn’t my favourite of hers either but that special edition is stunning and thoughtful! Love that this incorporated the library!! I just started one for my enemy and it’s my first Olivie Blake book and I really like it so far!
like i'm not even that big of a fan of yellow books because they are often kind of a gross(?) dark yellow, but this one was like butter and sunshine, such a beautiful colour palette and theme!! And yeah I love my library so much, im so fortunate to have access to a lot of great books so i want to take advantage of that and not spend exorbitant amounts of money every single time I want to refresh my book cart and give myself some new options! That's absolutely my favorite thing about the library -- the money saved, especially when I hate the book 😂 Only downside is not having a collection but that's why I started making mini books. Yes!! I saw that edition a while back, and I thought it's definitely a really nice take while keeping the same vibes as the original. Sucks that they're regi-specific for some reason 😭 Like why only the UK?? Which size do you have A6 or A5? I personally feel like the reason I never stuck with the hobonichi is because neither of those sizes work for me (B6-vibes here). But definitely some ideas (1) using as a diary, (2) gluing random scraps from the day to junk journal, (3) tasks/notes with color coding system -- probably my favorite, (4) journal the latest book you just finished/immediate thoughts on a book, (5) daily agenda + tasks, (6) recipes. I think just using it AS a notebook that highly a something for that particular day is how I most often used it as... So every day is a little different when I used it. Some days it will just be all notes. Another day is JUST journaling about a specific book, then the next is me ranting about something that has happened. Though big warning... I'm hearing there's been a couple of bad batches of paper for the notebook so I'm hoping yours is good! Bad batch meaning more bleed through and feathering when using fountain pens. Just let me know whenever you want to buddy read! I'm so JEALOUS. But I'm also glad that they're putting in more effect to make the library stand out more. Too many people forget about the library, and some don't want to use it because it's run down. Your feelings are valid!! I have no idea how people can do that with loaned books. It just shows that they have little regards to other's properties 😭 AHGHGH. I used to be a sucker for those when I was younger 😭 But it's SO problematic. I'm not really sure why they like the HS vibes so much. Some of them are just written for men, unfortunately.

And getting a bunch of books all at once so we can have a stacked photo for thumbnail is also difficult 🥴 I want to have a shelf to showcase the books I read but realistically I won't go back and reread most of them 😅 If it's ever in the US let me know!! Maybe I can see if I can grab it for cheaper with shipping!! Honestly, just go with the flow!! And don't go down the planning rabbit hole because it's... something. I own Masters of Death but have been shy to pick it up because I adored One for My Enemy. (Logic.) I wish I could read it again for the first time. I don’t store stories in my brain. I've actually heard that too, but I think it's just a little too intimidating for those starting the anime to power through so much content even if the filler content is well done. If I enjoy the manga, I'll power through that and maybe go and watch filler arcs if they are of interest! 🫶🏻

it's like i broke out of a trance and realised i now had piles of books, like i didn't choose this, this happened TO me 😂 I hope so honestly, i mean i guess the good thing about being a mood reader is usually one of them will call to me depending on what i feel like reading so im hoping for the best! It's a Master of Interpreting and Translation!! My language pair is Korean into English, but I also chose the Translation-only stream because interpreting as a job would be living my worst fear (public speaking) every day of my life haha

@@ellenmadebookclub it genuinely is such a passion for me, i felt so lucky to do the internship i did because i did a lot of quality assurance for multilingual projects and even though it was mainly formatting because i don't speak all 11-20 of those languages (of course haha) i picked up so many little things about languages i dont know much about! Like that Punjabi uses a | vertical line as a period, and that Thai doesn't use punctuation markers! Thank you!!! It is the end of an era truly, I don't think im ready to NOT be a student 😭🥲 Honestly I'm a yapper at heart so always send any number of questions my way and I'll answer every single one (with some tangents weaved in between hahaha)

I've mostly studied Spanish, and then a little German and Latin, and that went well enough, but then I tried learning Arabic, and that was a whole different experience. I didn't get very far, because I had a lot going on at work at the time, but yeah, an extra challenge for sure. I still have my little flashcards though, with the Arabic letters and how to pronounce them ^^ One day, maybe... How are you finding that with Korean? What do you translate? Do you have a job in translation already or looking? What are your plans and dreams, like is it novels you want to translate or manhwas or someting else? Why Korean? Tell me everything!!! XD I get the feeling of wanting to stay a student, but you'll never not be learning and evolving. Either just from the work that you do, or people you meet, and you can still take classes and keep exploring.

I have a better grasp of Asian scripts because my primary school did Chinese Mandarin as our LOTE and then i self studied Japanese and Korean before learning them formally, and French in high school was fine because it was roman script for the most part, but when I attempted Arabic I just got unmotivated when I wasn't making much progress (due to being busy like you!) but I definitely want to attempt it again! Korean is, interestingly, considered to be the easiest alphabet to learn for westerners(because it is alphabetic like English and not pictorial character-based) and it is even being implemented as the writing system for a lot of islands and small language communities that only have spoken language with no writing system! It is super fascinating to elarn about how Korean Hangul is being used to preserve these languages! So in Australia, you need to sit and pass the NAATI exam (to accredit/certify you as a translator/interpreter) before you can undertake most big projects in Australia, but if you're doing remote translation work for overseas clients then you can do that whenever! I'm planning to sit my test in a few months, but I don't know if I will try and start doing some freelance work or if I should apply for a grad job at a Language Service Provider (LSP) like the one I interned at, too many options ahhhhh I would LOVE to translate novels or hard-copy manhwa, or even video game localisation, those would be the DREAM!! But the most money is in more technical work or healthcare/law translations etc. so most translators have to balance the work they do. I chose Korean because out of Korean and Japanese, the Korean writing (and hence reading) system is FAR easier, I think if was doing interpreting i would have picked japanese because it's easier to speak, but since im working with text then Korean is easier, and it is also FAR less saturated in the market! There aren't many Korean>English translators, but Japanese>English translators are a dime a dozen and I liked both so this just made more sense :))

honestly im truly just starting out as well! ❤So it might be the blind leading the blind, but here goes! It might be counterintuitive to the algorithm but i just make the videos I WANT to make, with no real regard for views and hoping that my passion and personality come through! Every time I try to make videos that will get 'popular' or are trending, i just don't feel myself having as much fun and I end up scrapping them! If you're going for views or to grow quickly then I think watching lots of booktube videos that are popping off right now and then doing something similar with your own unique twist is the best way, but if you're doing it just as a creative outlet and hobby like me then make what makes you happy! ❤❤❤

That's exactly why i picked it up haha like i saw the hot couple and was like yes! but then saw the squiggly little dragon guy and was like YES!!! Honestly I think that's the perk of the library having their renovation, because they then got a better budget to order in lots of new books so a lot of them are in great condition, this is maybe the first or second book that hasn't been great in that regard! NO LITERALLY like one book that was really bent and a bit damaged when i borrowed it had me SO scared returning it, like i even took photos of it beforehand in case i had to prove to them it was like that before i borrowed it haha 😅i worry easily
if you want the tea, then........i hate to disappoint but it wasn't even THAT juicy, it was just weird af like it was VERY clearly an immature, young, highschool girl who is being ordered around and debased and 'mastered' by this ancient old ass demon lord, and then i got to a part where it turns out its HER JOB TO MELT HIS COLD HEART or something and there were so many borderline-lewd scenes (verryyy male gaze) of this underage girl who is clearly going to have to seduce this ancient being, like at least make her in college for gods sake 😭😭😭 so many scenes just made me wince and i eventually just closed it like 'nope! no thank you!!!'

That's absolutely my favorite thing about the library -- the money saved, especially when I hate the book 😂 Only downside is not having a collection but that's why I started making mini books. Yes!! I saw that edition a while back, and I thought it's definitely a really nice take while keeping the same vibes as the original. Sucks that they're regi-specific for some reason 😭 Like why only the UK??
Which size do you have A6 or A5? I personally feel like the reason I never stuck with the hobonichi is because neither of those sizes work for me (B6-vibes here). But definitely some ideas (1) using as a diary, (2) gluing random scraps from the day to junk journal, (3) tasks/notes with color coding system -- probably my favorite, (4) journal the latest book you just finished/immediate thoughts on a book, (5) daily agenda + tasks, (6) recipes. I think just using it AS a notebook that highly a something for that particular day is how I most often used it as... So every day is a little different when I used it. Some days it will just be all notes. Another day is JUST journaling about a specific book, then the next is me ranting about something that has happened. Though big warning... I'm hearing there's been a couple of bad batches of paper for the notebook so I'm hoping yours is good! Bad batch meaning more bleed through and feathering when using fountain pens.

Too many people forget about the library, and some don't want to use it because it's run down. Your feelings are valid!! I have no idea how people can do that with loaned books. no fr like i see so many creators do MASSIVE book hauls and i used to want to do that too but i think after a few book buying bans and some avid library use i have reframed my book buying to be a lot less consumeristic and a lot more wanting to curate a collection of books i love! but yeah region specific things SUCK and australia is SO foten not even included!! sometimes its only US or only UK, but on the occasion they DO ship to Australia it's like at least $55AUD shipping 😭😭😭

I have an A6 which I also have found in the past to not necessarily be the best (i think i prefer a B6 like you!) but I have found I never take my journals/planners anywhere because of the size being too big and I also want to practice making my handwriting a little smaller so I decided to just go for it and try it out! hopefully my batch turned out okay, but worse comes to worst ill use a mechanical pencil or something hahaha

Honestly, just go with the flow!! And don't go down the planning rabbit hole because it's... something. I found myself comparing my planning versus others. Yes, they're helpful in some aspect but there's also a lot of over consumption (that I definitely participated in) 😅Then ultimately realized that just a bare-bone planning works the best for me. I'm a HUGE pen snob LOL. And I don't think I've used pencils outside of mandatory high school work 😭 Even for math I used pens. Something something, JUST DON'T MAKE MISTAKES 🤡 A BIG selling point of the hobonichi is the paper though, because it works really well with fountain pens. If you wanna dabble into fountain pens, I can give you some good recs 😂

Toxic media was RAMPANT in mangas in the early 2000s. And we were... all just OK with it? Every time I go back and try to rewatch/reread some that I felt like I thoroughly enjoyed. oh god yep you GET me, i gave up on planning *aesthetically* or bullet journaling SO damn quick because that is just NOT what works for my brain, i get way too hung up on it and then just will opt to not use it at all, i need it to be simple and practical! I've actually heard that too, but I think it's just a little too intimidating for those starting the anime to power through so much content even if the filler content is well done. If I enjoy the manga, I'll power through that and maybe go and watch filler arcs if they are of interest! 🫶🏻

It's a Master of Interpreting and Translation!! My language pair is Korean into English, but I also chose the Translation-only stream because interpreting as a job would be living my worst fear (public speaking) every day of my life haha

@@ellenmadebookclub it genuinely is such a passion for me, i felt so lucky to do the internship i did because i did a lot of quality assurance for multilingual projects and even though it was mainly formatting because i don't speak all 11-20 of those languages (of course haha) i picked up so many little things about languages i dont know much about! Like that Punjabi uses a | vertical line as a period, and that Thai doesn't use punctuation markers!

@@love.lauren... I love that so much! I find it so hard to learn when there's a whole new alphabet. I've mostly studied Spanish, and then a little German and Latin, and that went well enough, but then I tried learning Arabic, and that was a whole different experience. I didn't get very far, because I had a lot going on at work at the time, but yeah, an extra challenge for sure. I still have my little flashcards though, with the Arabic letters and how to pronounce them ^^ One day, maybe...

I get the feeling of wanting to stay a student, but you'll never not be learning and evolving. Either just from the work that you do, or people you meet, and you can still take classes and keep exploring.

I have a better grasp of Asian scripts because my primary school did Chinese Mandarin as our LOTE and then i self studied Japanese and Korean before learning them formally, and French in high school was fine because it was roman script for the most part, but when I attempted Arabic I just got unmotivated when I wasn't making much progress (due to being busy like you!) but I definitely want to attempt it again!
Korean is, interestingly, considered to be the easiest alphabet to learn for westerners(because it is alphabetic like English and not pictorial character-based) and it is even being implemented as the writing system for a lot of islands and small language communities that only have spoken language with no writing system! It is super fascinating to elarn about how Korean Hangul is being used to preserve these languages!
So in Australia, you need to sit and pass the NAATI exam (to accredit/certify you as a translator/interpreter) before you can undertake most big projects in Australia, but if you're doing remote translation work for overseas clients then you can do that whenever! I'm planning to sit my test in a few months, but I don't know if I will try and start doing some freelance work or if I should apply for a grad job at a Language Service Provider (LSP) like the one I interned at, too many options ahhhhh
I would LOVE to translate novels or hard-copy manhwa, or even video game localisation, those would be the DREAM!! But the most money is in more technical work or healthcare/law translations etc. so most translators have to balance the work they do. I chose Korean because out of Korean and Japanese, the Korean writing (and hence reading) system is FAR easier, I think if was doing interpreting i would have picked japanese because it's easier to speak, but since im working with text then Korean is easier, and it is also FAR less saturated in the market! There aren't many Korean>English translators, but Japanese>English translators are a dime a dozen and I liked both so this just made more sense :))

honestly im truly just starting out as well! ❤So it might be the blind leading the blind, but here goes! It might be counterintuitive to the algorithm but i just make the videos I WANT to make, with no real regard for views and hoping that my passion and personality come through! Every time I try to make videos that will get 'popular' or are trending, i just don't feel myself having as much fun and I end up scrapping them! If you're going for views or to grow quickly then I think watching lots of booktube videos that are popping off right now and then doing something similar with your own unique twist is the best way, but if you're doing it just as a creative outlet and hobby like me then make what makes you happy! ❤❤❤
