Okay so I know no one cares, but I did my first full surface run yesterday and made it to Olympus before dying. I don't have anything maxed out yet and barely had rank 2 on Mel Staff so I'm still proud of myself. Thank you @haelian for reigniting my desire to play this amazing game.
Erebus gates required you to skip out on door rewards to attempt them. For basically just an extra option, the risk of getting an onion instead was too high. And the requirement to be on high heat for them to be accessible means taking risks was even worse. Like were you ever gonna take an Erebus gate on Elysium with +40% enemy speed? This redesign seems a lot more fun.
this is practically it, i think last night I was playing a high fear surface run but I found a don't get hit shrine near the top. I just said "f it we ball' since i can indeed just bail out and get the next room that I KNOW what is, if I get nicked. erebus gates move you into a new room and you 'reroll' every exit out. and sometimes you'd rather take the definitely a god/minor find room than reroll something random again
Hestia + Hera is such a nice combo. I miss the old Hera run, spreading Hitch like a plague combined with Hestia cast would just melt hordes. Now you have to spread Hitch more honestly, but otherwise it works just as well.
Favorite run on this weapon so far is Heph on the attack and aphro on the dash for love handles. If you wanna reverse it you can get the triple dash hammer and get Hestia duo . Four gods: Heph- attack or dash Aphro- attack or dash Hestia- special (to get Heph duo) Apollo- cast(for Heph duo)
@@devonklipp49 it's really fun I can barely see anything if you do it on the surface and you meet dio try to get that bottle thing where if you pick it up you get more damage
You could also aim for Exceptional Talent or Nervous Wreck with this build as well! This is my favorite Blast duo setup. Attack/Special: Heph (pom priority), Apol/Aphro (for Exceptional Talent or Nervous Wreck) Cast: Apol (for Back Burner and Rude Awakening) Sprint: Hestia (for Chain Reaction and Slow Cooker) Magick: Glamour Gain (for Love Handles, Sunny, and Damage modifier)
30:50 i think extreme measures will be saved for 1.0, right now all the EA players are getting super used to the game so 1.0 is gonna be kinda boring for a lot of them just because they've already spent dozens or hundreds of hours with a very similar game. Dropping extreme measures as part of 1.0 means EA players get a fresh and exciting experience alongside the new full release players because all the bosses are new on their first 1.0 run
@koonowax2241 Fear is the new name for Heat. EM was one possible option to increase Heat, but there was a broader Heat system with other options outside EM. Similarly, if EM returns it will be one of many Vows available to increase Fear. In other words, EM is a type of Heat/Fear not the other way around Also in all likelihood if EM returns it probably won't be called "Extreme Measures" anymore. Similar to how Heat became Fear, Benefits Package became Vow of Fangs, Privaledged Status became Origination, etc, it is likely that EM will get a new rebranded name as well
The only time I remember really taking Erebus gates was if they were right before the final shop of a zone. At that point, it didn't matter if I got an onion. Otherwise, it rarely felt worth the risk, especially at higher heat runs, which you needed to unlock many of the gates anyway.
Poor choice of words, as soon as you enter the chamber both heracles and nemesis instantly take the boon, like i can't dash fast enough to see what it was
I did a Slip/Scorch/Steam/Hitch build with these, using the omega special to spread Hitch around and then hitting them with the triple-S curses. Cheesed Prometheus (clumsily), but I'm kinda into it.
11:47 yeah I've felt that sometimes as well. sometimes I can really REALLY spam the omega specials. like, hold-boom-hold-boom-hold-boom, other times i have to wait quite a long while. hold-wait until all rockets hit-hold-wait-- repeat not really sure why
The build I accidentally discovered for this weapon is zeus special, hestia cast and demeter attack. This trifecta activates 3 super synergistic damage oriented duo boons
Poseidon for special + Hestia for omega cast + Vapor + Zeus/hestia to throw cast further + Apollo for cast expansion - extremely nasty combo, great aoe and single target dot, melts both surface and chronos
Was gonna say I just got the bird but yeah... The bird offered me to bond with it the second time I found it. I've seen the dog in fields three times, no bond option and now I have not seen it in 4 runs
Hey, TheXeypht! The same thing happened to me, I was equally confused. Turns out the dog, Hecuba, is actually Hecate's familiar, so you won't be able to bond with it until she gives you permission, which will happen once you get close to maxing your bonds with all three existing familiars. She'll have a special dialogue in the crossroads, and then you'll be able to find Hecuba in Echo's chamber again and finally tame it.
I honestly really agree with the hammer criticism, but not so much for hammers in hades 2 I think they're like OKAY still. For me it's duo boons. Almost every single hades 2 duo boon just combines the two status effects of the gods or makes one clear the other for damage: Hail Storm, Thermal Dynamics, Killer Current, Scalding Vapor, Freezer Burn, Room Temperature, Rude Awakening, Hot Flash... and most of the rest just boost damage for how much gold/hp/max hp/etc you have. They're extremely boring. I don't know if there's a single hades 2 boon I get excited to see at all, and there's really no interesting synergistic builds in this game that are super fun like hades 1. You just kinda keep stacking more damage/attack speed/status effects until you do big numbers and win. Almost EVERY hades 1 duo boon completely fundamentally changed the playstyle you were going to use and how you'd have to actually play the game itself if you wanted to get damage out of it, and then because it changed the playstyle it would then have a ton of certain other boons that would naturally combo with it super well you'd aim for too. There's obviously the crazy ones like Hunting Blades Merciful End and Sea Storm, but Crystal Clarity and Cold Embrace change how you position yourself for a beam build, Smoldering air you can spam your call but it's a way weaker version, Curse of drowning makes you use a cast in melee as a spell-sword type build, parting shot makes you aim your cast for backstabs, Mirage shot/blizzard shot/ice wine/scintillating feast let you turbo boost a crazy cast build, Low tolerance let you stack up status like crazy so you could go for a high attack speed build or weapon. The only hades 1 duo boon that felt like just a boost and that's it like all the hades 2 ones are is Heartrend as far as I can remember, and even that opened up more synergies because at leas then you'd be trying to stack as many crit related boons as possible and maybe run a big damage slow weapon like aspect of arthur to try and one shot everything. Idk, I don't really feel like I have a super cool build in mind and all the fun synergies I'd like to try and get on my run to make it as crazy as possible along the way in hades 2 like I did in 1. If anyone disagrees or knows any super fun hades 2 builds let me know though.
to me it seems that they section the game into 3 builds 1) Hit-on (Poseidon attack, Zeus static shock) 2) raw damage (Appolo or Hera with King ransom) 3) Status effect build-up (Hestia, Heph with Vent and his blasts). the offence in the game isn't too creative. I think it is because god boon are designed in such a way that they work on every single weapon aspect and the change in play-style is suppose come from weapons themselves. the problem is that all weapons feel the same. Like i can't tell difference between using staff or dagger. axe or torch, skull or black coat. the aspect all play so similarly that it is probably biggest point that is making hade 2 feel like low replay ability.
Okay so I know no one cares, but I did my first full surface run yesterday and made it to Olympus before dying. I don't have anything maxed out yet and barely had rank 2 on Mel Staff so I'm still proud of myself. Thank you @haelian for reigniting my desire to play this amazing game.
Nice job! Eris is no Joke, easily the third hardest boss in the game (behind Second phase Chronos and Prometheus)
@@VivBrodock Thanks! I lost two death defiances to Eris alone, so I completely feel the sentiment that she's one of the hardest.
eris is hard a cheese i found is Hestia's sprint, it deletes all the bullets eris shoots and applies scorch to her
i always pick Frinos for surface runs because i need to hide behind him during the Eris fight or i die for sure 😂
What’s was ur build if you don’t mind me asking? Got some suggestions that might help u out but I need to know ur choices so I know how u play
25:25 talk to hecate; she needs to give you permission to get her dog.

I hope they take the upgraded rocket speed hammer out and make it base. Tried it out last night and it didn't make the rockets busted, just viable.
I actually loved Erebus gates - btw. They made things spicy or kept pushing my limits at higher heat.
You really have to consider Raki or Hecuba for future runs. Base crit chance or Max magick might be neat
