@Dru Blué No they wouldn't, City is used to playing their high line and they couldn't do it this time around with just 3 upfront and maybe one player in the middle playing attack too, if they were gonna push Chelsea to play defensive and get shots on goal they had to delegate midfield players to attack which they wouldn't be able to do well with defensive midfielders and that tactic by itself is already risky because it leaves them open in the middle of the field where Chelsea can have anywhere from 2 to 6 players at any time. Either way City weren't gonna beat Chelsea in a game of who has the better defense when Chelsea is playing with 5 defenders whilst still having a good attack.

Pep took into account his previous two losses when he did have DMs. It seems to me that he wanted to overwhelm Chelsea midfield and open them up with runs from Mahrez, Fodden and Sterling into the box. What he couldn't account for is Kante. This guy is amazing and seems to be at his best on the most important games. He destroyed every attempt to play through the midfield and then even made two very dangerous attacking runs. What a player.
Perhaps but you're NEVER going to simply overrun Chelsea, period. I think it was ego, he didn't understand that a 70% change of winning how you've ALWAYS WON is much better than trying to an unknown change of winning, reinventing the wheel. Shocking.
@@CronoXpono what makes Pep a great coach/manager is his ability to try different tactics and not remain static by a single philosophy. He played Chelsea twice and got beaten twice should he have tried the same tactic again? Had Kante been injured or not performed on such a fantastic level it would have been a different story today. The simping for Pep, people say he had two losses but in those matches , he put his B team, this was an easy win for City if they played Rodri from start. The Mastermind Pep really put Gundogan to track runs of Havertz and Mount, no way Kdb or Foden were going to track back, and Kante was pocketing both of them, and 3 at the back from Chelsea meant that the runners were always running on to a brick wall Meanwhile A single through pass and Werner was stretching Dias and Stones leaving spaces for the runners. This just shows Pep is a cheque book manager, any manager can win the league with such a squad, reason why he never won UCL without Barca
Yea staring Zinkchenko was definitely wrong silva shouldve been on the left or right so Rodri could be there for in in midfield we needed his aggressiveness. Chelsea had plenty.....

Tuchel didn’t have City on the counter . He rather outplayed them tactically. Werner’s 2 chances were clear incisive play through the city back line, none were counter. The only counter was Pulisic which wasn’t in the real sense cause they played the usual high line and the possession was turned over at the half way life then came the ridiculous marking from city making it look like a counter. Harvetz goal came from one touch offensive football beating the funny high line press from city’s half heated press. They should be humble to accept that they weren’t good enough on the day and not for excuses.

Totally resonate with Craig's position. Redistributing defensive mid-fielder duties within the attacking players would only put a drag to the attack itself. I think it was a good technical selection. It's a chess match. Chelsea just managed better one on one. Kante negated everything with the high press which forced ManCity to clog the mid field and limit chances. This game was more technical than was realized. Two amazing coaches.
Do you know when you lose a chess game ? When you only react instead of going for a win. That was what Pep did. If you know your strengths - use them. Pep is doing the same mistakes since ten years. He lost every semifinal with Bayern against spanish teams because he for example used Rafinha only to cover Messi in a man to man marking- while Rafinha never had actually a place in the starting formation and through that he reacted - again - too much. Same with Sterling and the DMs. And so on and so on. After ten years you clearly have to say Guardiola is overrated if he only wins league titles with the most expensive team and isn't able to make progress as a coach.
First they didn't play their strongest side, now we saw Pep "overthink his starting line up". Or you could just say "Chelsea have beaten City 3 times in a few weeks well done Chelsea." It hurts a bit at first but you lot will get used to it. 🤣
Yeah. Look at Chelsea's record against City over the last 3-4 years. This is in no way an upset. City has never consistently dominated Chelsea. Even when City was at the peak of their powers Chelsea sometimes found the way to win. This City squad is very very good, but the Chelsea has head and shoulders the most talented lineup of young talent in the PL. Pep should have used the same lineup as used against PSG.
All of you saying pep should have used the same line up he has been using. Touchel would have studied city's recent lineup and map out a strategy against that. Pep might have wanted to avoid this by surprising him with a different package. So it is a 50/50 possibility. If they had used thier normal lineup, chelsea been used to that might have counted that easily. A new lineup might be a bit difficult to counter. But in this case the new lineup didn't work as expected.

It is easy to plan with the benefit of hindsight but given the previous two results he suffered against Chelsea, I can see why he'd try something different.

The simping for Pep, people say he had two losses but in those matches , he put his B team, this was an easy win for City if they played Rodri from start.
The Mastermind Pep really put Gundogan to track runs of Havertz and Mount, no way Kdb or Foden were going to track back, and Kante was pocketing both of them, and 3 at the back from Chelsea meant that the runners were always running on to a brick wall
Meanwhile A single through pass and Werner was stretching Dias and Stones leaving spaces for the runners.
This just shows Pep is a cheque book manager, any manager can win the league with such a squad, reason why he never won UCL without Barca
Rodri played 53 games this season. Playing any game without a holding midfielder is madness, let alone a CL-final. Congratulations to Tuchel and Kai
Yea staring Zinkchenko was definitely wrong silva shouldve been on the left or right so Rodri could be there for in in midfield we needed his aggressiveness. Chelsea had plenty.....
Ridiculous from Pep, there were only two ways Guardiola could come out of this final failing so miserably. When you saw the lineups, you knew Tuchel had him on the counter.

Nope, it doesn't.
Lol stop making excuses it happens
Worst managerial performance ever in a UCL final
Admit it. Chelsea were better on the night ffs. Even with a CDM City lost to chelsea twice. Tuchel and chelsea won
@@ze_abracadabra623 not taking anything away from Chelsea's performance but still pep's selection was horrendous
@@rohansrivastava7419 yes yes actually that I think about it, he might have over thinked due to his loses against chelsea and also to maybe over class Tuchel which backfired.
I can imagine how many people would call him divine and genius should they have won. They actually struggled going forward than defending, only 1 shot on target.
Maybe give Tuchel the due credit. He's beaten him in 3 consecutive meetings. That man is class and Chelsea looked more hungry and determined.
I like to think I'm a neutral.
Idk why these pundits are so bias and discredit Chelsea and tuchel so bad, before the game they said Chelsea is too weak for ManCity even the fact that they already won twice against mancity. Werner is a flop kai is too, tuchel can only win by miracle etc, then when Chelsea won the final they keep discredit Chelsea and Tuchel by saying pep has lost his mind and thinks too much like come on, give Chelsea amd Tuchel their credits, they won by their rights to.
When I saw the starting 11 I actually laughed. I just knew they would lose
Stop lying
@@TheWillog Nah dude, I also felt the same way. When I saw the XI, I was just like their midfielders in Foden (who's done really well as a winger in the CL this season) and their best goalscorer in Gundogan played too deep and they had no natural DM. And starting Sterling who's had a horrible season instead of Rodri or Fernandinho was just a bad decision. And they had no natural striker too so I was just like, "Not again pep 🤦♂️"
Exactly, when my brother told that the starting 11 is out, I just saw the Chelsea and thought City won’t change anything but then he told me that Sterling is playing and Fernandinho is not. I knew Pep is going for some big brain stuff which isn’t gonna work and that is what happened. Pep just needed to do the basics right!
It's become a norm
It was a recipe for disaster everyone could see, kante is like having two players and mount/Havertz like to drop into pockets of space. Not playing a dm and expecting to control the game against Chelsea is dumb, especially since they have just beat you twice and proved they can break your press.
Congratulations to Chelsea for a much deserved win. It’s Chelsea’s day!!!
Fernandinho should have started not Bernardo. It allows Gundogan to play higher up. Also no Sterling
Spends more money than a country's GDP yet has won no CL trophy without Lionel Messi 😭😭😭
Oof
He hasn't won and without Dani Alves or Iniesta either
Now y’all giving Messi credit lol.
I knew from the moment KDB left that City are done. He's the soul of this team, without him it's hard for them to get things done.
Iniesta and Xavi. Dont forget that
So the question on everybody’s lips here; Did Chelsea finally beat City’s A-team?
Did that look like city's T-team to you???
3x
Nope. City’s A team has rodri, cancelo at lb and Foden at Lw. Pep is an idiot
That was not the strongest team possible for city, just pep being an idiot again, just like last year
@@mihaidaniel1098 Those seem like excuses..
Excellent stuff craig
I love pep and don’t want him out like the plastic fans and sterling didn’t play bad but why play sterling over ferna come on pep you had one job not to overthink and you did
Sterling didn't play bad...he did literally nothing. Reece James dominated him.
True fans love pep but the truth is the truth he needed a defensive midfielder he was wrong...
Playing Sterling wasn’t a bad idea, he needed someone to be running behind Chelsea defender and the only person he could think of was Sterling but Jame got better of him. I thought he could have used Jesus, bcus he played it well against Chelsea in the 2nd leg premier league.
Espn will still find a way of down playing chelsea's victory
They doing this for views, trying to wind up pep and city haters lol
Nah they did another vid praising Chelsea.
Pep won 14 finals out of 16 name someone better with 10+ finals. But ye he made a mistake by playing Sterling
@@Attilabyro what finals??🤣he played 3 CL finals and won 2 of it
@@timbaktuu9845 i didn't said cl final i said finals.
Pep really made me mad with this mess man. I just don't get why you keep doing this dumb stuff bro.
You people talk too much . The 4-3-1-2 is a formation that doesn't not require a CDM . Chelsea players were just passionate to win that is all. Pep tried to exploit the spaces between the wing backs and the righ and left centre back, which could have worked if sterling had scored the first goal after getting the better of Reece James first half . Pep's tactical approach was brilliant . Teuchel just told James and chill well to close in on mahrez and sterling , which was tactically brilliant , that is all . People should stop whining that pep didn't play cdm. Chelsea beat man city 3 times with 2 cdm's .1 cdm and no cdm . It's a pathetic excuse from people
Ahhh Pep "Most expensive team in the world" guardiola bottles it again. But wait they play beautiful football so it's 👌 With the squad they have they probably win the league without him anyways
You guys should stop this overthinking stuff. He bottled it period!! For one manager the game has left him, for another he just overthinks, smh!!!
He bottled by overthinking
He's just cheque book manager ... if he take middle team to no.1 than I will consider him great coach
Name any such example.
@@faizsk864 Klopp comes to mind.
@@SIW808 did you know VVD is worlds most expensive defender, yet.
@@faizsk864 which middle table team he has taken upto now
@@motaygrg2697 tell me any example of such manager , I am asking you
I guess those who chose him as manager of the year didn't think his team could lose 3 times to Chelsea. Tuchel showed him how there is always a better game...
This guys up till now never believed in Chelsea, but we always come up to shut them up, up Chelsea 👍💪
I am a man city fan and I knew all along that Chelsea was going to win because I knew Pep was going to repeat the same stupid mistake once more.
Chelsea were lucky to meet brooking Madrid team, meaning if all starting Madrid team were fit
@@tamnadvardis7039 easy
I think he started his starting 11 to maintain a set pace for the first when Chelsea came in with their starting 11 to get the lead in the first half.
It was a bit passive for a lineup in such a competition but as expected from Pep
He’s a great manager, Chelsea was just hungrier in the short run and wanted to keep a lead, i think
Chelsea are one of those teams that at the end of the season look like 'the team to beat' for next year.
They'll finish behind city again guaranteed 😂😂😂
I have always known the 3 on Chelsea's T-shirt will some how mean something significant to Chelsea this season. That of cause Beating Man City 3 times to cap it off lol.
There was no wrong with team selection by Pep. He lost previous 2 games against Chelsea with players like Fernandinho and aguero. He wanted to shuffle the squad and try new but in the end it didn't work. Tuchel masterclass tactics beat Pep, no question about that. Pep couldn't do much. Even if they had Ronaldo or Messi or Harland or Lewandowski, I bet they would have still lost the game against Chelsea. Tuchel set up a team in such a way that city couldn't make a single attack, they barely made one shot in whole 90 min. Credits to the players of Chelsea who each one of them gave 200 %
When I saw de bruyne as striker I was shook. Kevin is crucial for the midfield to create opportunities.
I was thinking the same thing...
Yes he did over think
That Goal was a testament to Pep error
It's not over think it's ineptitude
@Swastik Barua nah pep has a better career
@@macro8236 what nonsense !!!
Bayern has been winning Bundesliga by default now..No Big Deal.. Any half-decent coach will do it.
With City, Give the same 1+ billion to Anybody's Granny and she can win same Trophies + A CL for sure by now.
You are a peabrain worshipper of FRAUDIOLA.
George Burley is 100% right. Lack of Fernandinho kept Gundogan as a defensive midfielder which he is not. Pep's selection was a disaster.
No defensive midfielders was stupid
Sterling has played his last game for Man City definitely.
I would definitely be very hpy to see that hpn...I never wanna see him play for us again
He was quite bad this season tbh
Defo back pocketing from Chelsea fc
Where was your wonderboy folden
Sterling should have been used as a winger in this game
Your boy pep fucked up dude
Didnt think it meant anything at the time, but both managers pitch side interviewed before the game.
Tuchel was chilled, seemed relaxed and joking with the reporter.
Pep, was sarcastic with the reporter, bit agitated, just didnt seem his normal self.
Obviously easy to say considering the game but think that must have translated through to the players.
ESPN let’s focus how not to give Chelsea credit.
I mean the video right before this was a video praising them. Im a chelsea fan and you expect this. We were massive under dogs obviously the main story is going to be City losing it.
Did you watch the other videos about chelsea tho
Tbf City were overwhelming favorites, so they’re going to focus more on what went wrong for City than what Chelsea did right
I had Chelsea to win by a goal, all these so called experts saying the last two Chelsea wins over city didn't mean much, city put out weak teams blah blah blah, you beat a team twice in a few weeks it's gonna have an impact and Kante again was immense. I don't support either team but the best team won today.
@@jhonestime2644 yea Burley heaped praise on Chelsea and Tuchel. Frank talked about Kante's greatness.
Reason I tell them every time Klopp is a better manager than Pepp. Doesn’t overthink things and always goes with what works BEST for the team. Pep tries to reinvent the game every time he sends a starting eleven to the pitch
I do believe Koop is better do how bring falling teams back to be title challengers with limited budgets and players
Klopp is way worse. Lost a UCl final too buddy. Now PEP has only lose a mere 2 cup finals in his career. This one and a Copa Del Rey
@Football Fan GGMU You know Liverpool wouldn't have won that UCL if Barcelona had a better defense right?
City has never been a traditional UCL competitor as it has never won the competition but Pep came close. Liverpool won it 5 times before klopp
Simple logics in determining a better coach than one who has LIMITLESS resources at his disposal ($$$) is looking at what that coach does with his limitations. Klopp does not have a blank check book to work with yet his sides challenge and beat some a those with unlimited resources. KLOPPP DOES MORE WITH LESS. This man has taken Liverpool to two champions league finals while competing with clubs like City Chelsea and United who all have more finances. FACTS !
Why can't they say pep got out thought and outmanoeuvred by Tuchel
please enough of all this 'overthinking' stuff. Pep got schooled by tuchel. Give chelsea the credit the deserve
He did overthink it tho all he had to do was play a dm
I agree bro. Complete tactical masterclass by tuchel. Only because it’s Pep they don’t accept Tuchel made Guardiolas tactics render useless. Completely annihilated city to 0 MAJOR chances. Guardiola hasn’t won a champions league with Bayern or City and with unlimited budgets as well. I think it’s time for ppl to start asking questions about Guardiola
