Open shelves in a wood tone/stain would look great in that open space between the stove and sink, plus you could match the feature you plan to do around the peninsula. It would tie together nicely. I can't wait to see the finished house!

Wow it's coming together. It is amazing how you can add more space without a larger area. I never liked the corner cabinets your right they are tough to get anything out of them. I also love the bank of drawers. You seem to have considered every angle. I love the floor color as well. Can't wait to see the finished place. Great Job Emily!

Unbelievable! I’ve watched you hang Sheetrock, mud walls, build cabinets and lay floors. All of this in one short video. You must be so incredibly proud of yourself! Next up…your own Contractor’s License? Everything is looking really beautiful. We retired into a small 1949 home. It has a really small isle kitchen. It does have a corner cabinet but the previous owners inset a two level lazy Susan. Since it’s just the two of us now. That cabinet alone works for pantry really well. That keeps all of our other cabinets for dishes, drinkware, pot & pans (pull out drawers) baking, serving,etc. It is amazing what you can do in a small kitchen. I do miss large countertops though.

Just my experience with a new build I would have put the floor down first then cabinet over top. It makes things alot easier as your not doing all the cut outs. It is coming along good though. You have nice design ideas.

My parents did the same thing opting not to have the corner cabinet, and the cabinet facing the kitchen table was storage and had a drawer, too. It was very handy, tablecloths, napkins, candles, etc.

I was surprised when I seen your cabinet choice I am one step before you my reno is basicly completed which sucks cause your ideas would have helped with some of my stress lol. I went with valleywood cabinetry ideal gray from lowes and they are all wood and we had to put them together they are not as dark as the picture which i was pleased with they have the dove tail soft close drawers and were so affordable too i priced them out and they were cheaper than ikea by far plus ikea didnt have 18inch drawers in stock and i needed that beside the dishwasher. I also went with a really nice extra large single sink with cup washer, cutting board, waterfall (for washing veggies and fruits) it even had a basket for that, a pull out modern faucet in black, self drain with the cutiest barbie sized basket to catch stuff before it falls into your septic and a smaller wash basin that was removable all black stainless steel i bought it from amazon and it was delayed in shipment so i ended up finding the same sink on wayfair and it was cheaper and faster on the shipping it was only like $239 it is amazing noway to find that size with all the extras at lowes under $1000 so score! we too had to start from scratch in our kitchen it was tiny now it is bigger and functions so nicely we love it! i went with a pale yellow for the walls which is so not like me at all but with the cabinets it looks amazing oh we splurged and got the glass hood for the range and the samsung bespoke appliance package in glass as well since we saved on the cabinets and doing it ourselves the applainces including the washer and dryer were around $6500 but omgosh they are sleek and so nice and the glass from fridge and dishwasher are so nice and the stove has an airfryer never thought i needed one now i cant believe i lived without it lol

I would love to know what you saved in the things you did compared to a 3rd party doing it. That way, we can see the savings on all your great work.
I was trying to tell if you put flooring down in the area where the dishwasher will go. Seems like you need to so you'd be able to pull out appliances (DW or stove) if you needed to make a repair, etc. Otherwise you'll have a lip from the flooring in front of the appliance if it would need to be pulled out of it's space. The house we bought had parquet flooring in the kitchen & they stopped it in front of the DW. When we had to replace the old DW, it wouldn't come out because of the crazy way they installed the wood parquet & the flooring was damaged trying to pull out the old DW.😢
We went under every appliance so it would be seamless and easy I stall

Can store placemats or party supplies from the dining table.
We did that with our corner cabinet. Our kitchen table was on the other side of the kitchen peninsula & a cabinet on the table side made so much sense. I stored placemats, tablecloths, etc. in it. It was 1 of the smartest decisions we made when we built our house. & I loved the convenience of having table linens so close at hand when setting the table or making seasonal changes for the table.
