I think this is the best version of this on TH-cam. It seems it's very difficult to make it sound like the original by Vangelis because you must get so many things right, the pace, the timing, raising and lowering the volume, playing slowly and speeding it up. That's part of what makes it so evocative and so sad, what stirs our emotions, not just the melody. What a beautiful piece he wrote and how beautifully you play it.
I've been listening to this for years and I feel like you're the only person on TH-cam who has covered this so accurately; with such emotion, desire and devotion with every note you play. Beautiful.
It’s been 9 years since I last posted on this, and wow, how beautiful still. This will always be in my heart as well as us alls heart. You find peace with your playing. I hope you know how significant you are
Deckard became the machine & Rachel, more human than human. The poetic irony is what’s enduring about both this piece & the masterpiece - Blade Runner.
How very sweet. I watched. blade runner with my first husband. This transcendent. Piece of music captivated my attention right away. I am now in my early sixties and I still am swept away... ✋
Some years ago I have listened to this cover a lot while I have worked. I have said some years ago "Thank you" to the pianist because this cover is so special to me. Today I need to listen to this cover again to relax my soul and to work in my room. My dog is now older and has cancer, but he is still by me and listening again like in the past. I needed the peace that this cover gives to me today to do my work. I have to say thank you again for sharing. Art makes life better. No doubt.
Watching these 10 masterful fingers transmuting this writing into this wonderful sound just makes me cry and think, “I need to get closer to God while there is still time”!
This is the best version on TH-cam. I've watched and listened to a few versions and I always keep coming back to this one. Beautifully emotive sound and just beautifully played. It inspires me to want to learn this fantastic piece of music but also a tune to just be loft away on some sonic clouds and drift away into a blissful chilled out mood.
I just watched Blade Runner for the first time a couple days ago. All I can say is what a masterpiece it was. But In particular this piece of music stuck out for me. How melancholic it sounded in such a dreary dystopian world. Especially from 1:00 to 2:05. You played this so beautifully
I have listened to the Blade Runner soundtrack for decades as my bedtime soothing music. And yet somehow I’ve never stumbled upon this incredible cover until tonight?!. How is that possible?. 🤩 This is simply perfection. 💖🙏🏼
It's as if im listening to the master himself. You're not just playing but also feeling the music. Beautiful. The best word I can use to describe this piece and many others of Vangelis is saudade.
wow. Beautiful and timeless. the subtlety and timing is perfect. i love Blade Runner and Vangelis, but this came out before the film and i love what you've done with it
this is my favorite movie ever made & this is one of my favorite songs from it. you’ve brought tears to my eyes, this is so incredibly beautiful ❤️ Thank you for sharing this
Jon Tisdall Thank you for bringing me back here! I didn’t know it but this is exactly what I needed to hear again. There is something really special in the way he coaxes more magic out of this song. I don’t know how to explain it but I think everyone here commenting understands it. It’s like it’s been stripped down to the heartbreaking beauty of its essence. Or something like that.
This is one of the most hauntingly beautiful pieces of music ever written and this Gentleman's performance of it . . . well I find so very inspiring. After a 15 year hiatus from learning piano I find myself at age 60, wanting t dive back into it. This video may have done more to motivate me than any other stimulus. Thank you so much for this "Gift" you may not even begin to know just how much it has affected the world. I would give most anything to play this well and as I say . . . you have inspired me !
What gets me about this piece is that the timing of the notes is like one of Bach's arias married to Satie's Gymnopedies with some soulful Debussy thrown in to boot. Its as unique as Vangelis was.
This music will be listened to all the people that reach the Beyond. When we stay with the Divine, withe the Father, Son and The HOLY Spirit will hear some music like that.
A beautiful piece played beautifully. My crush for more than two years and a half now (so more than a crush I guess) recently played it to me, so expressively and delicately that I just fell deeper in love. Tears came up so naturally…nothing like music and love can make us feel so magically alive and free, out of space and time. It was a beautiful moment. I will treasure it to remind me, when things get hard, how much life is worth it, even if my feelings are only one-sided and I know I shouldn’t think of him. I’ve tried not to but I just can’t help it. I sometimes feel we’re close and similar, but I guess it’s only me feeling that way. I often despise myself for being too shy to muster the courage to tell him how I like everything about him. You only live once and our time is so precious and too short. On the other hand I know I shouldn’t and it makes me feel so depressed, torn apart and lost… He seems to be already so happy and that’s all I can wish for him. If he ever reads this, I just hope that he won’t get offended, feel embarrassed or avoid me, but will keep smiling to me as openly and warmly as usual because it makes my day, and helps me recharge so much. I’m just grateful that we’ve met and would peacefully watch and listen to him play this wonderful music again and again, even on a sinking boat.
@@mateovalentine1 yes I did. The part at 2:58 is still a bit sloppy but I really enjoyed it. I meant to upload it but I can't seem to get it all the way through with no mistakes on camera. It's harder than it looks!
Agreed. I cheated and cut away to film clips to hide edits - I couldn’t get through it mistake free either. Love to hear your version! Happy practicing
I listen to this song at least once a day and sometimes many times. My job (though less difficult, perhaps, than a poor fit) stresses me out and this song helps take away my cares. Thank you.
AnotherSchmoe?? Amateur??! You've freed this exquisite piece from all the studio- added background racket and brought all of the poignant intensity back - thank you, and PLEASE take credit where credit is due -Mr. Vangelis would be tres pleased!

You played this song so perfectly it seems like you had imagine it yourself. The emotion you give with is Incredible. I wish I learn piano just to be able to play this one. Respect dude
ive listened to this album for two decades and this is the best rendition of this song I've ever heard. So accurate, not overdramatic, even the wooden piano and look of the video fits, I can just hear someone playing this in the abandoned lobby of the Bradbury Hotel.
I keep coming back to this piece every few months. The more I hear it the more I like it. It's the best piano version on TH-cam. Thanks for the upload and please don't take it down.
I've been listening to you playing this for years now, and it never ceases to evoke for me the blissful, haunting melancholy of the movie itself. I can't thank you enough for your beautiful rendition of it.
I love Vangelis his music and love your version. Without the synths you bring us to the core of the songs beauty: Piano. Thank you for sharing this with us.
So glad I found this (10 years later). I loved this song, and most of the others on the original soundtrack, but I really wanted to listen to only the piano music, and most YT versions all have the synth stuff. I was looking up Chariots of Fire, so I "accidentally" found this song! I played the first page of the sheet music - I can't stop playing it! I like all the cool arpeggios and chords. Definitely one I'm planning to finish learning. Great performance!

Even though the movie is years back the piano in Memories of green make me sit and think and it is pure Fantastic. It also make it's tribute in Some one to watch over me. I love it, especially when i need to just calm down from a stressful day
Such a great job brother! I listened to your version a million times and learned to play it myself (just posted on YT) - I'm a novice but the music speaks for itself and nourishes the soul. Especially your version - Cheers.
