Based is modern vernacular inspired by the artist Based God Lil B, where he used the term "Based" from the term for Crack Users called Freebasing, but in an ironic way. Based in this context basically means "being cool"
In the words of Chuggaaconroy "Zubat is utterly useless...until it learns wing attack". Blows my mind he didn't just have his zubat spam wing attack the entire time. Lol
8:50 - I mean even as an HM slave, the fact that it gets Stab means that Cut isn’t worthless, Strength and Rock Climb and Surf are even better, and more, so even if you only gave it HMs, it could use those HMs really well. Combining it with Infernape means you could actually foist Rock Smash onto Infernape, and combined with the fact you can very easily get a Gyrados for Waterfall, you can actually keeps HMs on your team the whole game without massively nerfing your team.
With Simple as the ability: Waterfall, Strength/Rock Climb, Curse (level 53 in platinum) then another HM like Rock Smash, maybe grab Double Team from Wayward Cave, or use a TM for a coverage physical move like Dig (TM28), Iron Tail (TM23), or Thief (TM46). Great mon. If you get unaware, then Toxic/Thunder Wave, Whirlpool, Swagger, Attract if yours is female, Protect/Substitute, Taunt, etc.

He is not cut out for hard fights in general. I watched some of his Pokémon Insurgence lets play and when he faced the air gym he ended up throwing his controller at the wall. A battle which he could have won if he had not made some key mistakes. If I remember correctly he switched to the easiest difficulty not to long after that.
Friendship evolutions make tons of sense for casual playthroughs. Many players will just have a Pokemon on their team, and it will evolve whenever it evolves. That's totally valid. It's really only in the context of hardcore playthroughs and deliberately grinding a Pokemon to evolve that it seems like a dumb mechanic, let alone a feature that should have never passed QA. But most people don't play the game that way.
True, which is why I’m happy they’re adding more ways to increase it rather than just walking. Cause in any context the walking only thing is dumb but luckily it doesn’t have to be like that.
I'm 25 minutes into this video and it feels more like a video of Michael complaining about dumb shit than an actual nuzlocke with pchal just coming along for the ride.
Lol. I'm rewatching this almost 4 years later and the complaining about "BS" in this nuzlocke is honestly really annoying. Sounds like he just wasn't taking it seriously enough.
@@MillyThe_Rat Not a good argument man. These are self imposed rules to make the game more challenging. It's honestly pretty funny seeing someone complain about something that can be controlled to a degree. If it's really just a children's game, why does complain constantly about critical hits and call his experience miserable? Clearly it's irritating to him.
I really appreciate the lack of judgement I feel from this channel. He makes it clear that the way he plays and enjoys Pokémon is not for everyone and that he wants everyone to enjoy themselves with their runs
Its crazy to see him be able to critique peoples strategies or mistakes as deeply as he does, while still maintaining that feeling. A LOT of people would need to either not be any kind of critical, OR fall into the trap of it ceasing to be critique, and starting to be tear-downs. But hes able to balance the two AMAZINGLY well

This was surprisingly... well, I wouldn't say "wholesome", but more civil than I was expecting after seeing MandJtTV's video on my own time. Figured there'd be more shaming over his frustration with the style of play, but you took his tantrums in stride and didn't mock his feelings towards Nuzlockes. Some jabs at his misplays and blaming of the game, sure, but who wouldn't? Also, apologies not being able to catch streams. My net is usually trash, so watching these vids are usually more convenient than watching a buffering Twitch.
MandJTV can be a bit much, but this is a good comment because no one should be judged on how they play a game And he does a good job tolerating the channel that is basically kid friendly with some adult jokes (MandJTV)
Thank you for defending Bidoof and Bibarel, I was a kid when I first played Diamond and fell in love with bidoof. Got me through some hard battles (for a 10yo). It kind of hurts when people shit on it constantly.
Pokèmon Legends Arceus changed my mind about Bidoof. You are forced to catch one (as well as a few other 'mon) as part of your first official mission. I had assumed they would be taken and not made apart of my team. Thought it was a fetch quest but I was wrong. I was going to release him but decided to give him a chance. I left him stay on my team. I normally name my Pokèmon but decided to let him earn it. "Prove to me you deserve a spot on this team. Show me your worth." He more than proved he deserved a shot. I named him Bucky cause of his buck teeth. I wonder if you saw the Bidoof short on the offical Pokèmon channel. It's called Bidoof's Stand or something to that effect.
Honestly, while I wouldn't sit there and wait out the 12 minutes of him being gone, him leaving that in is so fucking good. Sucks to hear that he got so much hate for what he (and I) thought was a funny gag. You're right though, the entitlement among fanbases is SO shitty and soul sucking lmao. I do a lot of writing for a relatively small (compared to youtubers') audience, and the amount of entitlement from that alone... 😬 I've hit that block button more times than I can count.

Hmm villain that uses pokemon as tools Giovanni Silver Maxie and Archie Cyrus Ghetsis Lysandre Literally every single evil team beside skull and aether foundation has a leader that has the trope of "I only use pokemon as tools to further my goals" it's not unique it's boring. It's what makes villains like N and Guzma good villains cos they actually have motivation and character to them besides the same trope over and over again
@Michael Fawcett Maxie and Archie share this line: My goals are none of your concern. My crew/team, my pokemon, they are but tools so I can create a new and better world. Top of mt chimney. Cyrus is described like this by his parents (I assume) in sunnyshore city: He was just like any young boy growing up around pokemon, he loved them and said that he wanted to be a strong trainer. As he grew older, Cyrus began to grow more cynical. You could see it with his pokemon, he was tougher, stricter, like he was treating them like tools. Truly awful. Silver's battle in Azalea town after you beat him he mentions that "my pokemon are so weak, all that matters is power and pokemon are a tool for that power, you hear me" then he mentions the slowpoke well and how he hates team rocket and heads off The only one that I was wrong with was Lysandre cos all he Blathers on about is beauty and life all that, he's able to use mega evolution with his gyarados so I should have guessed that he treats them well. All the others I was right with, I would rather that you look into what your talking about before correcting someone. I don't mean that maliciously I was just offering advice.

Looked it up and got two definitions
1: being yourself
2: addicted to crack cocaine
I did the same thing, but I like option 2 the most.
Lol, I literally spend the last hour researching about that whole Jubilee person and all possible meanings of being „based“
Based is modern vernacular inspired by the artist Based God Lil B, where he used the term "Based" from the term for Crack Users called Freebasing, but in an ironic way.
Based in this context basically means "being cool"
It also tends to be used in the sense of someone having political opinions you strongly agree with.
Fun Fact: The online username of the first person in Germany to serve jail time for swatting was „BasedGod“
Lmao his face when MandJ started to say:

You were supposed to push your glasses up on your nose like an anime character to complete the intro clip.
I remember my first successful, Shauntal’s Golurk was a two shot on my Clefable (I’d survive a crit if I was at full), but my Ice Beam was a three shot even with Life Orb (I was Magic Guard so I grinded BP to get a Life Orb), I knew I needed a clean switch, so with heavy heart I clicked Ice Beam for the last time…but Clefable was like “You’re not killing me that easily” and ice beam gets the 10% freeze chance letting me beat Shauntal deathless and probably saving the entire fricking run
Dude looks and sounds like he's on the verge of tears for a lot of this run. I'm not sure he's cut out for a Nuzlocke.
Dude did this in 2016. He did some other nuzlockes after this.
he actually did say that he isn't cut out for nuzlocke
He is not cut out for hard fights in general. I watched some of his Pokémon Insurgence lets play and when he faced the air gym he ended up throwing his controller at the wall. A battle which he could have won if he had not made some key mistakes. If I remember correctly he switched to the easiest difficulty not to long after that.
He also got very mad about ultra necrozma
Hes more about "comedy" & lore surrounding the Pokémon universe than he is skilled gameplay

Fax
There just pixels, grow up you fucking baby is the impression I got from Pokemon challenges
Trade evolutions and friendship evolutions are retarded
True, which is why I’m happy they’re adding more ways to increase it rather than just walking. Cause in any context the walking only thing is dumb but luckily it doesn’t have to be like that.
Never found it very hard to evolve them so I guess I don’t share the negative feeling to the friendship mechanics
@@catalyst1641 It's a... Children's game... Lmao "he's not taking it seriously!!!"
From what I've seen, a lot of people comment to correct your mistakes as soon as you make them, even if you've corrected them later in the same video
This is highly possible. I listen to the video commenting occasionally on different things which have been said in the video.
I guess thats fair because he does it to the people he reacts to
I really appreciate the lack of judgement I feel from this channel. He makes it clear that the way he plays and enjoys Pokémon is not for everyone and that he wants everyone to enjoy themselves with their runs
Yea agree it's great to see it considering most people would judge you for now playing like they do
Its crazy to see him be able to critique peoples strategies or mistakes as deeply as he does, while still maintaining that feeling. A LOT of people would need to either not be any kind of critical, OR fall into the trap of it ceasing to be critique, and starting to be tear-downs. But hes able to balance the two AMAZINGLY well
What lack of judgement? I see near constant judgement
@@NoThankUBeQuiet criticism is not the same as judgement.
@@NoThankUBeQuiet what the person above me said, but the sarcastic remarks are just humor and his personality. he always reiterates that of course he doesnt expect any random, esp a first timer, to be as good as him or anyone else who has put thousands of hours into these runs
MandJTV can be a bit much, but this is a good comment because no one should be judged on how they play a game

I've been saying Bidoof and Bibarel are fantastic since DPP was released, and not just as HM slaves. Glad to see I'm not the only one who loves them.

@Michael Fawcett
Maxie and Archie share this line: My goals are none of your concern.
Silver's battle in Azalea town after you beat him he mentions that "my pokemon are so weak, all that matters is power and pokemon are a tool for that power, you hear me" then he mentions the slowpoke well and how he hates team rocket and heads off
The only one that I was wrong with was Lysandre cos all he Blathers on about is beauty and life all that, he's able to use mega evolution with his gyarados so I should have guessed that he treats them well.
