It takes a great bit of technology to make this X5M handle the way it does. The only downside as you said, it never lets you forget that it is a sport suv. As a previous owner, I don’t know of many other sport SUVs that would give you the same performance experience. It is a joy to drive.

I wasn't always a big SUV fan but always loved the mid 2000s Caddy Escalades and Lincoln Navigator but the new BMW's in the past 6 years had me grow a passion and love for. This BMW X5 M got my attention 100% ❤️
It has a McLaren boost delivery and exhaust note to it in this generation S63tu. It's goofy quick
I'd like to see a 'depreciation' gauge somewhere on the instrument cluster...
Goes down faster than the fuel gauge!
Way less depreciation then EVs. WAY LESS. U honestly have atleast 4 years until a new gen refresh when it starts depreciating.
People that talk like u guys buy a 3 series and then wonder why it depreciates. The high end M Comp models like this car... the x6m , m3C,m4C,etc.. hold value very well if u look at the market. Depending on the spec it could even go up in pricing. M3 cs and m4 csl dont depreciate at all. U just gotta buy the shit other people will want to pay a premium for

There's always that guy in any nice car's comments talking about depreciation. Let's just enjoy great cars with amazing engines please. The people buying these new can afford the depreciation in exchange for everything you get with a car like this.

Wow what a beauty. Imagine this thing with GMs magnetic suspension or with Acura's air + active suspension. It might be the perfect SUV!!
This looks pretty awesome, as most X5M's tend to, interestingly. I also don't really love SUV's but if I were to get one, I would probably be looking at this. It's insane how fast and unreasonably sporty these things have become lol.
I also ADORE those door panels and really the hex stitching throughout. It's my favorite part of the Audi Sport seats but it just loooks that much more awesome on the doors as well. BMW continues to kill it with their interiors.
I said this when the XM came out, and I'll say it again - when the X5M exists, there is no reason to buy an XM.

The x3m base may be 80, but it easily gets to 90-93k. I think thats a more realistic number of most x3ms

Is it just me or colors like Santorini blue don’t become options when building a car on bmws website; or any other website brand.
I'm a fan of all gen x5m's. They look great and handle pretty well. This new gen is no exception for me. The interior is amazing and the colors, especially the Marina Bay blue, are out of this world. They're just way too expensive in my opinion considering how resale values plummet on all gen x5's. I mean, obviously people are still buying these, but at 140k, I'd rather much step into the high end sports car segment or used exotic category. That's just me. I feel like these are trying to be more of a status symbol nowadays than performance vehicle. I bet you anything more mom's are driving these as daily's, driving the kids around to soccer practice, shopping, running errands, than there are people buying these to actually drive them hard. I feel the same goes for the Mercedes GLE 63. Nonetheless, still an awesome suv. Anything with the M badge, in which they're a true M vehicle, is a badass vehicle.

Couldn't decide between the x6m and this one.. Wow. Still can't decide if this would be a good daily driver? MPG scares me lollll . I come from toyota and kia.. and I want to jo in the bmw fam. I love the style of this model, the tech and everything . What other models should I be looking at if this is a bad daily driver?

I'm so curious what the market is for these types of performance SUVs. If you're a car person, you would much rather spend the $140k on an actual performance car and not a ... performance SUV. My assumption is that these are marketed towards a very niche 1% market where folks who burp money buy these as grocery getters for their wives/partners.
I wish you would mention how the seat pan bolsters are super tight and rockhard and force you to keep your legs straight and almost together all the time this is an SUV not a race car.
Cars like these don’t do it for me. Regular cars nowadays looks exactly like this inside and have same features for less $

What's wild is the normal X5, if you get the M sport and option the bigger wheels like most of them have, also come with those 315 rear tires. And that's a common soccer mom vehicle, I always wonder if those people know what they're getting into when they get those lol. Probably why I see tons of X5's on summer tires in winter cuz they can't afford/find winter tires in 315 width.
This car doesn't look better than the 2009-14 Cadillac CTS Coupes. Those cars look SO good and unlike anything out here currently.
Save your $$$ and just buy the sweet spot X3 M40I. It's really all you need.
Three years from now you can cross shop this with a new Corolla,.
That push to park nonsense on the shifter keeps me from even entertaining one of these. I had one in Denver for a week and wanted to smash the living hell out of the shifter every time I had to drive it.
As good as this car looks, it does not make sense to get a powerful engine fit in an overweight chassis with high cog. I guess people just have too much money to care and just want a straight line practical suv?

I would say X5 M60i is enough.
m60i is fast enough 99% of the time and it leaves you enough money to buy an 86 or miata as the proper fun car

Is it just me or transmission sucks in this car? I don't remember it being this bad? Maybve they're trying to make XM look better by making current X5M and X6M drive a little lazy?
for a carmaker that takes pride in building the "ultimate driving machines", it's ironic that they stopped manufacturing manual gearboxes. cars are getting more and more automated, because people hate driving, and, ideally, would like cars to drive themselves while watching tv, and bmw are more than happy to satisfy that kind of customer. on one hand, it's understandable, on the other hand -🖕them. there's a parallel between what's happening now in the automotive industry and what happened in watchmaking during the quartz crisis in the 70s. the only thing one can hope for is the emergence of a niche market, where manual combustion cars will be sold to enthusiasts at a premium. otherwise it'll be a sad world to live in, and driving a mindless affair. /rant
bmw doesnt use that slogan anymore because its customers care more about interior lighting in the xM more than the driving experience of an m3 or anything for that matter
with the new m5 coming in as a wagon this seems even more pointless than it already was
It’s crazy how bad so many cars sound now. Engineers do their damndest with tricks and gimmicks to no avail.

Audi/Porsche and Mercedes V8s sound like what you’d think a V8 sounds like. Even the N63 in the X5/6 M50i and M550/850i sounds like a real V8 compared to the M models’ V8s
It's because they designed the V8s cross bank manifolds differently in the M cars which helps spool the turbos better, but it does cause the engine to sound a lot different from a typical V8, the M60i doesn't have that tune so it sounds more like a traditional V8, and it sounds better honestly.

@@Jdm_fl5 It's kind of a strange thing, cause you would think that the X5M would sound more aggressive than the M60i version, but the M60i is much better sounding than the M series, the M60i sounds like a V8 it's got a very refined deep rumble to it. The X5M doesn't really sound like a V8 it's got a high pitched unrefined burble and it honestly doesnt sound great imo.
It's a synthesized V8 noise, same problem the M5 had. For nice sounding V8, AMG's can't be beat.
XM and the new 7 series are their worst designs by far. the XM is also just a pointless buy when the X7M60i and X5M already exist...

There is zero chance that this ride is comfortable. This thing is stiff as hell. 2023 X5 M felt like driving stiff sports car.

The BMW X5 is so expensive that non of the Westlife members can afford one.
At $140K, the 2024 RSQ8 is the pick over this. Looks better, sounds better, and the interior is the usual Audi class act. BMW designers have lost it in the past few years. Polarising exterior looks while their interior is just a slab of uninspiring digital screen to pass off for a dashboard. It's like they couldn't be bothered with designing a traditional cockpit/dashboard. Just stick a massive rectangular screen and call it a day. Pathetic.
