One of the best dropshot videos I’ve seen without banging on about you need this top of the range gear or that top of the range gear thank you for time in doing these videos
Excellent instruction on Drop Shot fishing for Perch. The respect for the Perch is exemplary. I wish more anglers would thank the fish for allowing it to be caught.
This is easily one of the very best videos on the dropshot method I’ve ever seen. Clear, concise information and no nonsense. Literally cannot find fault with it 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hi Andrew I'm disabled but still enjoy going fishing. This video has given me the confidence to give drop shotting a go . Many thanks and kind regards.
Good video very helpful.how ever this vid did not help me tried everything you said and no luck finding the perch down the canal. And your 20 cm thing would be only work better in winter I think not in October
What a great and helpful video for absolute drop shot beginners like myself 👌thank you so much for all the small details and thinking/reasoning behind your tips 🙏👏
Good evening Andrew, I was a bit sceptical about the 2 rig , but I did give a go today .... and I must say what a game changer was almost 100% hook up ratio 👏 😳 👌 is from now on my go to rig thank you so much
What a great introduction to drop shotting! I've been thinking about trying this but never actually never found such an in depth video. Thank you so much for taking your time to create this awesome content!
I loved your comprehensive explanation of the topic! One thing I am still wondering is what weights to fish. I am currently looking at a MajorCraft N-One Mebaru Solid Tip 0-5g and I am a bit unsure if 5g is enough to dropshot effectively for small perch in quiet water or if a 10g rod (like you use in the video) is the minimum really.. thank you.. please keep up the great work 🙏🏽
Thank you Andrew!! Such an informative blog! Really enjoyed all the knowledge you've shared and I'll be trying to put it into action this Sunday. Stay safe and keep up the great work. Aaron UK
hi Andy, thanks for your videos! For me you explain things just right, which is even better considering English is not your first language. Well done, keep it up mate!
Could you add timestamps for the topics in video description? Just makes it easier to go back and watch certain topics! Thanks Andrew, awesome video, and I learned a lot on top of what I know! :)
Superb Andrew, so much information, and presented in such an understanding way. I have yet to get out and do some serious dropshotting, but I feel now, after watching and listening to this upload, I will be so much more confident and better equipped to catch the target species. Thank you for sharing your valuable knowledge and experience. ✅ Phil.
Great video Andrew, the loop on the rig for the hook looks a gamechanger, haven't seen or heard anyone else mention it. cant wait to try it. Great channel and great videos.
Great videos Andrew, love them. What leader are you using when pikes are around. Strong FC can ruind lure presentation i think. Thank you and exuse my english ✌️
Awesome vid on drop shooting, im from Australia and we don't seem to use it here. Id love to give it a go in the salt for flounder and flathead. I think hook choice would perhaps need to change to a worm hook to thread through the larger lures.
Great video learned a lot new to dropshotting first time out today i did not manage to catch on a small pond that i know contains lots of perch ,i did get one definate pull that I am certain was a bite but I have learned loads for next time I go out i will be more confident using your tips thankyou. What size hook were you using for the minature creature bait on the video it looked like a gold coloured lure.
Hi Sir, the perch you caught at the 7 minute mark, how did you unhook it so easily? I catch a lot of perch deep hooked like this and always really struggle to get the hook out. Can you help me please?
I use barbless hooks and in most cases by close inspection I can see where the hook's point is and then I push the hook back slightly to free the hook..
Thank you sir, I use barbless too. I guess its just I need to practice more! I caught so many perches on my local river using your techniques, Thank you my friend.
I would love to show you how to fish with a diving minnow set up,but as live baiting is now illegal in Scotland it doesn't really work with artificials as smell was part of the attraction. It could be deadly for perch and trout especially with the odd pike showing up.
Dedicated rods do have a small advantage over an non dropshot rod. Abeit a little advantage. I do think its 1 of the best techniques for lure fishing on perch. Tight lines people
@@AndrewsKnots not in imho. They do tend to have the action you described in your video. Can you dropshot with a rod thats design for shad/jig fishing yes. But a the one with your mentioned action is better. Abeit marketing is also a strong force
Good video, but I wish you would talk about why you do certain things more. For example you talk about how 20cm is the best distance for the lure to the weight, but you don't say why.
@@TheFishingNomad ok, I won't be able to explain that as I can't get into fishes heads; if you are asking for my opinion, I think it will be to do with lure ending up at similar distance from the bottom as fishes eyes (as in difficult for them to miss the lure)..
@@AndrewsKnots Gotcha. That makes sense. So basically you think the fish are most often suspended around 20cm from the ground and this puts the lure right in front of the fishes face? Thank you.

One of the best and most detailed treatise on the drop-shot technique.
Glad you think so! 👍
Good channel Andrew,no annoying loud music and good information about different styles of fishing👍
Glad you enjoyed it 👍

I’ve never seen that knot for dropshot fishing but I’m definitely going to learn it!
Good luck.
I have been dropshoting for a couple of years quite successfully - but yes I picked up 3 very good new wrinkles from your excellent presentation.
Great to hear!

Great work Andrew. You are pointing out the exact mistakes I am making while dropshoting. Can't wait to try it properly this time.

Great video, best I've found so far, thanks Andrew. Great to learn from as I try to teach my boys to appreciate fishing in the great outdoors.

Thank you Andrew ! Very helpful video . Subbed !🙂👍🐳🐳
Thanks for the sub!
Nice and informative thanks 👍

Great video...im out drop shotting tomorrow
You think a very small snap link in the loop would be a good idea, to change hook size and lure size ?
Maybe.
Great video as always 👌question, typically what length of fluorocarbon hook lengths do you use with your braided mainline?
Usually, 60-80 cm.
Very good video Andrew! What hook size you regularly use for perch?
Hook size depends on the lure I use. 👌
Great video learned a lot new to dropshotting first time out today i did not manage to catch on a small pond that i know contains lots of perch ,i did get one definate pull that I am certain was a bite but I have learned loads for next time I go out i will be more confident using your tips thankyou. Very informative 👋

Awesome video just getting into dropshoting , where did you get the lures in the video or what are they named , mainly the bugs , thanks
Thanks. Check description for lures. 👍
Really good video Andrew just a question what rod would you recommend and what casting weight thanks.
Plenty of info in the description. So, it makes little sense for me go into detail once again as obviously I use what I like/rate 👌
Thanks

hi andrew great video could you tell me what the gold coloured creature bait is and where could i get some please
I have this cray reviewed. Look for the video.
Great video

Very Good Video !!!
Thank you very much!

Yes, in general, they will have an advantage by having a print "dropshot" on them.
@@AndrewsKnots not in imho. They do tend to have the action you described in your video. Can you dropshot with a rod thats design for shad/jig fishing yes. But a the one with your mentioned action is better.

WHAT WAS THE BRAND OF PINK LURE YOU HAD ON THE HOOK? IT HAD A LOT OF ACTION!!!
Which one?
Brilliant, thank you :)
No worries!
What size of hooks work best for you Andrew ?
Hook size always depends on the lure size. Very rough rule is hook's lenght should be half of lure lenght.
@@AndrewsKnots Thank you Andrew! 😊
I know a lot of enthusiast anglers who are missing out on a lot of perch catches by using too big lures. Small is really the key.
Yes, very true 👌
What sort of weights are these and what are they called please?
In the description.
@@AndrewsKnots I click on description and there is nothing there!
do i need drag loose on drop shot great video andrew
Same as for any other type of fishing.
@@AndrewsKnots thank you

No problem
Good video, but I wish you would talk about why you do certain things more. For example you talk about how 20cm is the best distance for the lure to the weight, but you don't say why.
Because it catches most fish most days 👌
@@AndrewsKnots Thank you for replying. That explains why you use it, but doesn't explain why it catches the most fish the most days.

@@AndrewsKnots which PE you are using ? Is it 0.6 enough for perch fishing?
Pike without wire trace ???
Yes.

Thanks 😎
I use 20cm for trout also
