My manager who is also like a mentor, always tells me "in life/work, you win some and you learn some" and this sharing of yours is such a great reminder!! Love your positive outlook on this and i know that this experience will now anchor your leadership style. Of course like you said, you dont have wait until you become a Senior Exec to extend this philosophy. This kindness and empathy should be extended to all working levels, human to human. Thanks for being so raw and open with this ❤
it's kinda interesting to see this side of you haha, but honestly this conversation taught me a lot about how we should behave or respond when we make mistakes bcs at the end we're all human
Lillian I am so glad you share this with us, imagining be a perfectionist type A is so hard to share own mistakes to public. Truely appreciated and very inspiring ❤
I just applied for a job at Spotify! I've watched a lot of your videos about your role and the company culture; it seems like a great place to work! I love how your managers are very understanding and they help you grow, even in situations like this.
Hi Lilian, I was the same situation with you today and I felt the same way you feel. Thank you so much for sharing and doing this podcast. It feels like I am not alone having this feeling. Thank you also to Rodolfo, I was comforted with his wisdom and thoughts! Continue to be amazing. Thank you for all the things that you share ❤
If it was your first meeting with her and it was her first impression of you, then maybe it wouldn't have worked out the same way. Since you had talked to her a few times before and she knew you were doing great work, then it became a small mistake that you can learn from. I like everything your friend said as "learning lessons" for you in this situation. It's great that you learned from your mistake and it showed you how valuable you are as an employee. The way she responded to you missing the meeting allowed you to continue putting in great work, instead of feeling demotivated after making one mistake.
Thank you for sharing. It really inspired me a lot about how to deal with our own mistakes and to be a good leader. "The bond of love and kindness and empathy is stronger than the bond of fear." I truely love it! I'm genuinely grateful for watching this video when I was stucked in the bad treatment from my ex and I don't want to be like him. Your executive is a good model for me to improve myself, even though I don't work at Spotify. Thank you so much. ❤
Lillian, thank you for sharing this with us. It’s always hard for me to face failures at work, especially when they affect other colleagues and take valuable time from managers. After watching the videos made by you and Julia, I realized that Spotify is really good at choosing its employees! Thanks again for sharing this experience with us. It really helps me develop a positive mindset to view my mistakes in the future.❤
Lillian, thanks for sharing your story. Please take it easy on yourself. This wasn't some big f up or failure (even though our brains would like to tell us it is). Be kind to yourself. - (from a girly who's worked in consulting for 8 years)
This coffee chat is really inspiring. Especially 13:32 onwards Thank you Lilian for being so honest and sharing a mistake that probably felt extremely uncomfortable for you. You’ve definitely inspired me to become a better person at work
Hello, Lillian, this is my first time to see your video. Your reaction was totally like mine. I always blame myself for every mistakes and feel soooo sorry to everyone who I work with. But I see the difference between western and eastern culture. Maybe it's because I always work in Taiwan, once anyone makes a mistake, it's easily to be blamed terribly and even be fired. Anyway, I like your friend, Rodolfo's suggestions.😊
I’m so glad for this insight! I would have never expected any corporate execs and managers to actually be kind and compassionate. Even in non profit I had leaders with mistrust from the very first moment onwards who followed approaches such as ‚no complaint is praise enough‘ Can you elaborate on the work culture at Spotify? Is your relationship with your manager typical for what you experience at the company? Any insights from European offices as well?
Super inspiring! I’m curious though, how do top managers deal with people who don’t really value the opportunities they get? Like those who figure the boss won’t get mad no matter what, so they don’t bother to reflect or improve. Do manager just let it slide, or handle it differently?
If manager is not motivates or appreciate your work then it's difficult to stay in the company recently happened with me like manager always she demotivate my work so resigned
Lillian your new profile picture looks so so pretty and please please don't change your profile picture and I am watching your vlogs since years and years ago 💖✨
I think she may have missed out also lol as she didnt ping you either It is a bit over-reacting to write such email 😂 dont worry too much I mean the executive wont blame you for such small thing as long as you have informed her that you have missed the meeting out At the end of day, human makes mistake…being too fear is not a good thing
Haha isn't the email a lil too serious. Ok so you missed the meeting. So what. I bet your manager misses meetings too haha 😛. A simple apology will suffice haha
@@benedictpang637 missing a meeting is not something to be taken lightly. It can say a lot about someone such as being disorganized or not valuing the other persons time. I think Lilian’s email to her senior director was great!
Having a great manager MATTERS so much. It really makes or breaks how u are at work. Love the relatable expierience.
so true… love > fear

很謝謝你們誠實的說出自己失敗的經歷,和之後馬上承認不掩蓋錯誤的示範
也從你們的主管身上看見有同理心的領導的價值❤❤
I think you overthink too much, you are human and you will make lots of mistakes in life. Be gracious with yourself Lilian! love xx

I like the slice of life videos more than podcast style tbh, but I can see how a podcast is helpful to others
Thank you for sharing this ❤❤❤ I'm really inspired to be a better leader.
Thank you for this video! I also learn a lot from your sharing.
Ahora queremos todos trabajar en Spotify
I totally feel you as an INFJ-A. But Lilian, you’re more amazing than you realize. Stay loose about being not perfect sometimes.

Rodolfo is hilarious. I admire you have such great leader and coworker. Awesome work! Thanks for sharing the experience and reflections.❣

If manager is not motivates or appreciate your work then it's difficult to stay in the company recently happened with me like manager always she demotivate my work so resigned
So this is all about a missed meeting? Things happen all the time
I guess not in some big companies with a professional working culture.
but honestly, as long as it's not missing a customer call, everything is managable... people will understand
I honestly think that the manager did the same mistake before and they grew from it.
