I bought this tent a few days ago from 4wheelparts they had Black Friday pricing at $720 which seemed reasonable for a tent like this. Honestly after watching your video pushed me to pull the trigger. Awesome video - I’ll be pulling it up again at install

I’d recommend getting a 2inch memory foam mattress topper in full size It makes that mattress way more comfortable especially if you sleep on your side

my parrents had a thing like this back in the 60's on there vw bug it was called a camp hotel and it was awsome it had a bathroom and kitchen that you could set up.
You would love Australia, The 4wd and camping scene is huge here, every second vehicle houses a rooftop tent. I prefer just throwing a swag in the back of the wagon because id probably crush my roof getting in to a roof top lol

That would also be an ideal setup for camp with your car style music festivals, cause no need to set up your tent on the ground, just pop it up and as an added perk, you're well above the crowd so your tent is always easy to find, just gotta close up the ladder when you're not there and ideally some locking bins underneath the tent for food and other valuables.
This is a very sweet mod for those who love camping. The only bad part is you're reducing the already bad MPG anywhere from 2-5mpg. Although that's probably not your biggest concern if you have a Toyota Tacoma.

Great video! I'm picking up the same bed bars. Did you guys mount the bed bars the wrong way? It looks like they should have been installed the other way around to give you the ability to mount the gear plates.

This was great. I did notice what is probably a manufacturer DEFECT on the support bars... you mentioned the little triangle things on the bars that go from the bed to the tent could be used to sturdy up the whole thing, but I noticed on the right or passenger side they face each other while on the left driver side they face out. I don't know what they are for exactly but the asymmetry bothered me, especially since whatever the function it won't work the same on both sides. Also I'm picky and like a symmetrical aesthetic. Thanks for the video.
Hey Zack, question. Can the tent be setup to open towards the back of the truck rather than to the side? I think it means bottom to holders rails rotate 90 deg. Thanks

I don't think I would wanna have a tent mounted to my truck full-time. Mike at Last Line of Defense has a pretty cool set-up where he can take the tent off for daily use and keep the bed functional. I'm also considering just getting a tent that fits over and straps onto the bed when the tailgate is open. I'm only 5'7" so it would be plenty of room. I may get a rooftop tent someday, but I'm gonna have to drive my truck a little while longer and figure out what I like/dislike. Plus they're a ton of money.

Doesn’t the Tacoma have a composite bed? I think it needs to be reinforced with bed stiffeners. I’m not sure though.

I like my truck-bed-tent, works well and stows easily under the tonneau cover while driving.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to spray the tent support bars with an anti rust black paint either! I know a lot of them will rust out fairly fast.
