  • Join me on my journey to a remote Ukrainian village, located 250 km away from Kyiv, during a time of war. I'll share with you the unique stories I've heard from the friendly locals and take you on a tour of many households. But that's not all - I was also on a mission to find a house within a tight budget of 2,000USD. With over 10 houses visited, ranging from 700$ to 20,000$ USD, you won't believe the stunning properties I discovered. So, come along on this adventure and discover the beauty and challenges of life in a Ukrainian village during wartime, and learn how to buy a house for a bargain price!

    In the US we often offer less than what the owner is asking. They settle for a little less. Can you imagine getting water from the well and using the toilet in winter? In addition to the purchase price, you will have many repair expenses too.

    When my parents grew up in my village 50 years ago some houses looked similar like this (in Bavaria/Germany). But now it has developed very much and there are no houses without water anymore. Most houses, streets etc are new and comfortable. Now a house costs 800.000 Euro, because its in the Munich area. If you invest now in the Kyiv region, in 10 years it will be worth much more.

    If the well water and piping that do not freeze you can install an electric water pump at the well to pump the water to your pipes. I would look for a home with a good roof and no sign of leaks in the ceiling and walls. Also no cracked walls. Different heat sources (Gas +Wood burning stove+Electricity) + good neighbours. In my past experiences with wars it is not unusal to see the prices and rents going up multiple times in the countryside. Although Putin has been bombing the Ukrainian cities and power infrastructure, because of good Ukrainian air defences he has not been able to send his airplanes to do more damage than his missiles can do. Missiles are typically used as psychological weapons and for "Point destruction" as opposed to leveling multiple blocks of cities that airplanes can do. If the air war gets more serious you will see the price of these country homes going even higher. I am sorry you and the rest Ukrainians are experiencing these things. Slava Ukraini

    Vita.....ZDRASTE or hello😄😃....The prices are not expensive and they are suitable....even that $700 house has a reasonable price....even if it doesn't have any facilities.....that $2000 house at the end of the video is suitable for you...only As long as you don't have a neighbor who is a fan of Lenin and the Soviet Union... Of course, a good neighbor is important and you must have electricity....
    These houses are suitable for the summer season and in the winter it is unbearable for the new generation. ...but still, in my opinion, the prices are not expensive at all....

    • @ThinkUkraine
      @ThinkUkraine  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey, Vita and family! To me, these houses are charming with plenty of potential. It would be nice if someone could create a nonprofit organization (tax deductible official charity group) to rehabilitate these old houses with no water or indoor toilet and ancient plumbing and no internet or cell phone service, add off-grid features like solar panels, small wind turbines, rain gutters & barrels, hiring Ukrainians to do the work, then offering to Ukrainians as affordable homes, along the lines of Habitat for Humanity and Homes for Heroes (disabled military veterans) in the US, but without the burden of a mortgage that those programs include. Instead just have the new owners take on the utilities or if successfully off-grid, just to pay property taxes and volunteer regularly in the local community somehow. So the people and animals of Ukraine can have safe places to live and be comfortable, and the locals can have good neighbors. I don't know how it would all work, but it's pieces of an idea that came to me. Bright blessings and Slav Ukraine! 💖

      Hey, Belinda♥️ It’s a great idea! Honestly once I thought about a possibility of buying neighboring houses, repairing them and making rehabilitation area for military veterans there. But it needs investments. Maybe in future videos I will suggest this idea to our friends abroad.

    At least no busts of Lening. I guess the streetnames come from soviet era times. Well, they lived all their life under the communist rule from russia. i would be scared a bit too. who was the man and the 2 children? I love red Krimsekt, before the russians occupied the Krim. I dont want to sound mean, but the houses looked......not in the best shape, i say. It could be served as a museum village. Nearby my livingplace is a museums village with older houses. These are in better conditions then those. Of course diffrent interrieurand repaired. Oh, i think that painting with face of the old lady is the famous ukrainian lady who missinterpreted ukrainian soldiers as russians soldiers and welcome them with the red flag of the CCCP.

My great grandparents all on my mom's side are from Sweden. My great grandparents on my fathers side are from Wales, and the rest were Mormon pioneers. Cherkasy is not so far from Kyiv or Boryspil, so i may go up to Cherkasy and start looking again )
