Great vid! Thank you. It took me months to finally buy this knife for EXACTLY what you said about the materials. At this price it really should be 14c or nitro-v. I did finally buy it for $77 off White Mountain knives, so I didn't pay $85, but it still should be constructed of higher quality materials. That being said, I really like this knife!
This supposed to be an upgrade from the sencut glide strike? I have the sencut which I do like. I do like the looks of this one though. Thanks for sharing brother 🤜🏼💥🤛🏼
It’s far from bad or unacceptable. I just didn’t think the value was there unless you really wanted a superb button lock action (better than the Conspirator or Chevalier, also both from CIVIVI) for under $100.
I agree it's overpriced on paper, but I think the design is what raised the price. The intgral esque backspacer isn't something Civivi had much experience making. If they made an aluminum, g10, nitro v version it'd be $110. Lot's of companies are selling d2 knives at significantly higher than $80. Begg, Brous, Medford, Boker all come to mind. Plus the Bohler k110 costs considerably more than Chinese d2. It's $70 cheaper than a k110 FRN Demko Ad20.5 and a heck of a lot slicier. Before the haters start I personally love the Ad20.5 but if the Civivi is overpriced then the Ad20.5 is as well, and it sells very well. Any knife is worth what we're willing to pay. If it's not worth it to you that's fine, don't buy it.
Honestly, if they did a G-10/Nitro-V version, I think there would be more demand. Ferrum Forge gets away with using Nitro-V and charging more simply because of great design, to give one example. Regarding the companies charging a lot for D2, Medford’s D2 heat treat is honestly a step below Bob Dozier, but I can think of literally nobody else who does a better D2 heat treat. Todd Begg is right behind Medford. Brous and Boker, though, also repeatedly face accusations of being overpriced. Fixed blades are different-I understand why you’d want D2 in a fixed blade-but a folder should have something better at this price unless as with Medford or Begg, you get a truly special heat treat. K110 is a poor value all-around, unfortunately. I also think the K110 AD20.5 aged terribly in price, and Demko recognized it, switching the base steel to S35VN (the 3V and 20CV versions are priced fine). CIVIVI hasn’t used K110 on anything else, and I’m guessing they realize it, too, though I’d like to see the Sentinel Strike with 14C28N and would pay extra to get it.

The design DNA is definitely there. I think they may have thought them to be sister models.
Got to get it
