I believe Jari created a new genre called "Winter Metal" and this is a great example of this genre.

When that first scream came, i got goosebumps... This song is a masterpiece, plain and simple. This song, and the other single - TTHRE, makes the debut album seem like a Demo tape. The musical evolution here is massive.

Wintersun`s last two full lengths come not even close to Atavistia`s two full lengths. Hundreds of tracks in a song (like Wintersun has done) doesn`t make the music itself better. There`s a point when it`s reversing and makes the music even worse.

What i get from this is Wintersun, obviously, but also some inspiration from Carach Angren's early work, Lammendam. Definitely more Carach Angren than Dimmu Borgir. Dimmu Borgir has evolved into a different direction after Mustis left. Mustis was the soul of Dimmu Borgir imo.

Serious question, why the Jari worship? This is practifcally a The Forest Seasons ripoff. Why would you want to copy that album? Way too much to just be conincidence. Even the credits section is copy paste of Jari's. Vocal styles are 100% copy of Jari, down to the deep spoken vocals. You're talented enough to do your own thing.
I don't think think this Track is as close as the one they released before to Wintersuns Forest Season. It has a lot Black Metal Elements in it. Sure i agree its a similar Sound but to my Ears Atavistia Sound more like Wintersuns first release. And thats a fine thing because i still think the Debut is Jaris best Album together with the Ensiferum Debut he was included. There is not enough Music in that Style existing and i never would complain about it.
Sure these Guys here could do other Music but i don't know if i could like that the same.
Nearly all Bands are copying Bands they listen to and trying to make their own Version of that. The own Identity comes later.
Even Metallicas Debut was a 80% Rip off from the English Dogs.

Sure it has its own structure, original riffs, original orchestrations, and creative segments, but sure apart from that, its seems inspired from the forest seasons. God damn wintersun is my favorite band, but the Jari worship is kinda crazy, jari has basically created his own genre, and Mattias is the ONLY one i have heard that manages to make a similar style of music which wintersun fans should enjoy since their album cycle is kinda slow (lol). This song is original, and it is a masterpiece at that
the way i think it is if you like a style just make the music.. who cares if it sounds similar because if that's the kinda tunes you like then why the fuck wouldnt you want to make the songs that you enjoy to listen to.. i LOVE children of bodom.. if i could write like alexi I would in a heartbeat because the world needs more of riffs like bodoms first 3 albums

idk, i liked the first atavistia album, and was excited to hear that theres a new album out, but so far im not so into this song. theres some good bits here and there, but overall i find it doesnt flow well, it sounds disjointed. maybe itll grow on me...

That was my first thought too. You can pretty much connect every part of this song to some part of Eternal darkness.
This is waay musically more diverse than Eternal Darkness. Its more like Sons of Winter and Stars meets Eternal Darkness meets...Gollum? 😂
The WInter Way album is basically Walmart Forest Seasons and this song is shameless plagiarism of Eternal Darkness
