‘The Lonely One’ was released on september 2nd 2000, as one of the tracks on the album "Who Needs Guitars Anyway?". The song hit the #16 spot in the Official UK Top 40, #19 in the Official Dutch Top 40 and Top 10 in Scandinavia.
This video was shot in Moscow and made by the then still unknown director Olaf van Gerwen who is also responsible for the Alice Deejay “Better Off Alone” video. Olaf since then has won numerous awards and has shot over 500+ commercials in 30+ countries, for companies like McDonalds, Pepsi and Nike.

That carefree, optimistic spirit of the 90s will stay as a poignant reminder of a lost zeitgeist, one where the world felt smaller, simpler, and overwhelmingly more hopeful.
While I couldn't agree more about those feelings, it might be good to notice that it is mostly all about feelings and the situation of personal life - very little about anything factual about the world.
World had at least as much problems in those times, and has bettered very, very, very much ever since. It was just the time when we, personally, were young, with limitless life and possibilities seeming to be ahead and without too much personal responsibilities, health issues, daily life challenges, etc. and the "world problems" not personally applying to our lives, just like they are nowadays not applying most of the today's youth (sure there are suffering young as there were in our youth, they are and were just minority, majority not affected in significant scale, and even those affected tend to remember old times as better).
And no, I'm not implying there wouldn't be lots, lots of things gone worse since those times. Just about overall picture, and that our feelings are based on the situation of personal lives and basically everyone of every age and era do feel the same golden nostalgia. Especially I do, at least 😂

In my opinion, the most trance oriented song Alice deejay ever did, very underrated. Less pop more deep emotional trance with uplifting beats, shame she disappeared. I imagine she would be similar to how ABOVE AND BEYOND are today.

I don't know about "best song of the 2000's" but I have listened to A LOT of electronic/dance music and I consider this to be one the best songs of the genre.

Theres something about Alice Deejay that makes her different from all the other female artists I listen to, yes while its a different style than what I usually listen to, she makes a catchy beat, beautiful herself and dang that voice she got, its so hypnotizing I love it!

Alice DeeJay is the name of the group. The singer's name is actually Judith Pronk. But the people who actually wrote the music were..... Wessel van Diepen, Dennis van den Driesschen, Sebastiaan Molijn and Eelke Kalberg (whew!)

I remember when this album dropped a friend got it and was playing it while we were driving around. This song just blew me away. I got the cd and listened to it non-stop. One time my then-gf and I drove back from her home town back to mine and I must have had this song on repeat for 3 hours or so while she slept. 😄It's still amazing as ever.

Classic euro/trance. I remember when Alice Deejay first came out - massive.... for many years before, it was all grunge in North America. Then the synths and drum machines came back. This song is amazing :)

If they re-released all the late 90's early 2000 danse tracks they would beat the rubbish out at the moment.
Honestly? I think some of the longer tracks would bore most people out, I've played Energy 52's Cafe Del Mar (Three'n'One remix) one time at my former voluntary job and some of the younger volunteers (and even some people may age back then, when I was 26) where constantly "waiting for the drop" and basically every 8th set of kicks they were like "Oh this is it" and after 5 or 6 times missing it completely and being way to early they lost interest. For some people the modern music really has programmed them to be satisfied as quickly as possible.
That said: I really get your point :).

Потрясно, Элис Диджей в Москве. Ленинская библиотека, метро. Но скорее всего сцены в метро сняты с использованием спецэффектов, люди отдельно как и метро на заднем плане а потом при монтаже всё совместили. Видимо руководство метрополитена не дало разрешение на съёмку.
Солистка Джудит Пронк очень похожа на Жанну Фриске.
Еще как дало. То ли 2000, еще свобода. Снимали на кольцевой на Курской. Есть видео самого процесса съемок. И сцена прилета солистки в Шереметьево ))
