  • Nancy shows how to put a facing on a quilt in this video tutorial. A facing may be just what a quilt needs instead of a binding. Perfect for art and wall quilts.

    That was really fun to watch!! Thank you. I really couldn't see in advance what you were going to do with the raccoon quilt top but it really did look a lot more interesting when you were finished. Just like you said a piece of art. Enjoyed this video.

    I have Frog's Fine Day pieced and ready for the backing. I think this technique will be perfect for the frog scene.

    • @QuiltingWithNancy
      @QuiltingWithNancy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually instead of a sleeve I take the easy way out - I just cut a small slit on the facing and put my rod though that way.

    • @QuiltingWithNancy

      Good Question :) - I did stitch one down by hand after I finished the facing.

    Is a facing a reasonable choice for a lap quilt, even if it doesn't have curved edges? I am making a panel-type quilt with a multi-color piano key border, and I'd love for it not to have the binding at the edge of the piano key border. Will the facing show too much, since it will be a solid color like the backing (requested by the person it is for). I'm a beginner quilter, by the way. My bindings are always wonky, and I like the clean look of the facing.

    • @QuiltingWithNancy
      @QuiltingWithNancy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you can do a facing on any quilt, curved or straight edge :)

    Love this, but I am confused about how close to the edge do I do the second stitching after I turn it to the back?
